I'm sorry to say this about my fellow Mexican-American...but Tito Ortiz sucks balls. Lennox Lewis EASILY destroys the boner, no matter what kinda match, simple as that. Ortiz was NEVER the best MMA boner to begin with, that title belongs to Frank Shamrock...yes...he's Mexican-American adopted by an Irish-American family. opcorn:
Bullshit. WinnerByChoke: "In the boxing ring Lewis 100 of 100, in MMA Tito 90 of 100 (at least) but in a street fight who knows...and who cares really??" Arben: I agree that in a streetfight, an MMA fighter would win a majority of the time, but EVERY time? I'm not so sure about that...I think Lennox would beat Ortiz 6 out of 10 times in an octagon and 9 out of 10 in a streetfight. [he doesn't pick tito over lennox, but concedes in mma it would be pretty close] Lok: Lemmon would either land a shot or be on his back. He simply does not know how to defend a takedown Hut*Hut: In a fair one on one fight Tito would probably win, IMO. 7/10 or so. And I didn't go to the end of the thread so i don't know if this is all.
You CANNOT include LOK because of his history with Lewis :: The others admit he can win, that leaves you and lok......you are really by yourself
Reading comprehension problems seem to be rampant on your side of the argument. What about Hut*Hut's reply puts him on the Lennox side?
Lewis has about as much of a chance of beating Tito in the octogon as Tito does in beating Lewis in a boxing match. None. TFK
How do you know TFK? :: Lewis = deadly striker with world class stand up. Are you forgetting just how dangerous the strikers in mma are, even those who have shown or needed no takedown defense up to this point ala Houston Alexander? I think the chances of Lewis beating Tito under mma rules just based on his striking alone are a lot greater than Tito beating Lewis or any decent boxer in a boxing match. Now imagine a Lewis training mma under Bas Rutten or Team Quest and learning takedown defense. Then suddenly the chances of Lewis beating Tito in the octagon just elevate tenfold. Tito can learn boxing for the next 10 years and he'll still never amount to sh*t as a striker.
Sure, in a boxing match, Lewis is a deadly striker with world class standup. But in an MMA match, he's a deadly striker who is ridiculously susecptable to takedowns and leg kicks, and who would have no idea how to handle someone who tied him up on the inside, or how to defend knees, foot stomps, elbows, etc. Comparing Lewis to Alexander isn't a good comparison because Alexander has been trained to prevent takedowns, block and avoid kicks, wrestle on the inside, etc, whereas Lewis hasn't, so any MMA fighter worth his salt would easily expose those weaknesses. Boxing is not the same as MMA standup fighting. They are very different. What works in boxing isn't what works in MMA, and vice versa. Now, if Lewis trained in MMA, and became an overall skilled MMA fighter, that would make this pointless argument even more pointless, because it would no longer be a boxer vs MMA fighter match, it would be two MMA fighters fighting.
