Leonard/Hearns 1!! Was it a good stoppage?

Apparently Hearns actually had to go around to Stewards house afterwards just to get Manny...Manny had been at home crying for a week, by his own admission.

 

I remember reading that Tommy did disagree with the stoppage. He didn't cry and whine about it, but he did say that he felt Pearl shouldn't have stopped it.

 

Don Dunphy doesn't help things when he said he couldn't believe they stopped it.

Tommy has pretty hurt and on the ropes, he took a left hook to the body, a left uppercut, the right hand missed I think, and then Pearl stops it.

Maybe he could've let it go on longer, I don't think it would've made any difference. Tommy was done.

I remember that also. From what I heard that's why he was so craven for the rematch.

 

He also busted his hand in the Hagler fight and said nothing. Manny brought it up years later when Tua cried off about a rib injury or something he carried into the Lewis fight. Manny said that TUA should STFU and let Lenny enjoy his moment as Tommy let Marvin enjoy his.

 

I spoke with Hearns two weeks ago at the Mirage, and he still didn't know where he was..

 

I heard Evander Holyfield speak even more recently than that and he spoke like he had Riddick Bowe's fist still lodged in his mouth. I believe he knew where he was though 'hewe on Earf'

exactly. Maybe a bit too soon, but Hearns was going to get stopped one way or the other, he had no legs and Leonard was relentless
