Not at 140 or 147. He had faster, more explosive feet and that’s what allowed him to pip pap, pip pap guys. It was more the constant, hard to time, in and out than pure hand speed that made him effective but he did have fast hands.
I watched a bit of 140 De La Hoya tonight actually just to refresh my memory, and whilst I admit he's got quicker hands than I remembered him having at that weight he still clearly isn't as fast as Pacquiao. Also if you put Khan on the list then you have to include Pac as we've seen them spar and there's no discernible difference.
Khan has lightning fast hands. It's literally the only thing the bum has ever had going for himself. In terms of pure handspeed, Khan is faster than Pac. But it matters for nothing because Pac reacted much quicker, and actually threw punches with a purpose. But if we return to the debate at hand, anybody who states that Oscar's handspeed was on par with Leonard's, probably hadn't watched young Leonard in awhile. The Andy Price finishing combo, the Dave Green finishing combo... Oscar ain't NEVER had handspeed that good.
Pretty much THIS! Plus Oscar would gassed out by the late rounds and Leonard would toy with him t that point. A clear UD for Sugar Ray.
