It would've been nice to see a Mosley-Tszyu matchup in 2001-02, right?

We didn't get to see the top guy at 135 and 147 fight the best @ 140 there because he skipped it. Mayweather (more or less) skipped thru 140, but apparently we may see it now, which is a good thing.

if there's no bigger fight than Hatton and Floyd then Hatton needs to do his part in making it happen.

As it stands, Floyd's coming off the biggest fight in boxing history and is the owner of TWO legit belts, whereas Hatton's the owner of a fringe title one and two weight classes below.

Whether the fight is in England or Vegas, Hatton's side has to realize that.

Even with that said...Floyd "allegedly" made $8 million to fight Baldomir and Baldomir made $1.5 million or so.

Hatton may only own the IBO bauble due to the good ole' IBF with their stripping but Ricky is the true champ @ 140.

I don't think many if any folks miss Mosley and Tszyu not fighting.

One could say that about Oscar and Tszyu not fighting when Oscar made a two fight stop at 140...

    "However"

    Vince Phillips kinda wrecked that.

Plus, who cared about Mosley-Tszyu in 2001-2002 when Mosley had already beaten Oscar and had been at welter since 1999?

Tszyu-Judah was the biggest matchup at that time. Many look at Judah after the result of that fight completely forgetting about his status PRIOR to that match.

That's the problem of revisionist history...absolutely no idea on perspective and the lay of the land at the time.

Which is precisely why I said HBO's pretty much lining up Hatton-Malignaggi so Hatton can get his old title back.

Plus, the IBF stripped him for not fighting his mandatory.

I'm not saying it as "revisionist history" or that there was high demand at the time, I remember what was going on then.

I'm saying it would've still been an interesting and intriguing fight, right?

Same thing here, what's wrong with Mayweather and Hatton fighting?

    Again...revisionist history...

Kostya spent a bunch of that time out with various injuries so the "demand" for him to fight Mosley was nil.

Perhaps you were hoping for it while Kostya was rehabing, but again...that's NOT what the boxing world wanted to see.

There's nothing wrong with Mayweather and Hatton fighting. I'm just saying be realistic about it. Mayweather is a legit champ in TWO divisons. Hatton has a minor belt.

Tszyu's injuries didn't really make him inactive until after Mosley had lost to Forrest.

The lack of public demand for Mosley-Tszyu is not the point, and it never was.

I don't understand why you're downgrading Hatton and his accomplishments. It's like the same junk we've been hearing from Mayweather.

no one really gave a shit about tszyu vs. anyone.

only significant fight tszyu had lined up was the Mitchell rematch and he won that fight easily. after that, many including myself figured he would retire.

I always wondered how Tszyu commanded fairly high purses etc, it seemed not that many people outside Australia cared that much about watching him.

I'm not downgrading Hatton, I'm being realistic.

Who has the more impressive resume? Mayweather (BY FAR)

Who is the bigger draw? Hatton (BY FAR)

Anyone who can't see either point is a nuthugger on either side of the equation.

That's where the negotiation would start...Hatton brings more asses in seats, Mayweather brings a better legacy AND legit titles to the table.

How is that anything but honest?

hell, most people forget that Tszyu fought Tackie the same night of Gatti-Ward I.

Wasn't there a story out that the paid gate was less than 500 people?

World Boxing (I think) had an article talking about how the crowd was empty.

It said something like "Win or Lose, Kostya Can't Draw".

Well, Hatton-Malignaggi happens to be a pretty decent fight anyways. Not the preferred one, but a decent one at least.

Two guys feinting, waiting for the other to punch?

yeah, there'd be a lot less damage to both guys.

    And Marciano????

Well, one half of the equation is true. Kellerman hates Marciano. You know why? Cos shiny-shimmy-shimmy-yay Arnold got CREAMED.

How many Blacks love The Rock, and I'm talking Brockton, not Broke Town up in Balti.???

We know Larry didn't like him:laughing:

Interestingly, Roy was one of these fighters, I really didn't care what he was doing or against who. It partly has to do with DM in Germany, and them two not fighting, but mainly Roy just never caught my attention. Even when Tarver KO'd Roy...it didn't register.:dunno: :dunno:

    Dumbass.

What PPV of Hatton did more than Floyd-DLH, Floyd-Gatti, Floyd-Judah? When has Hatton earned anywhere close to what Floyd has won in those fights? Who's recognized as the best in the world coming from beating the biggest name in boxing? Hatton has no power here, he must take Floyd's terms UNLESS he's being absoluted raped.

First off, it used be the case that Ricky did a lot of fights on Cable, but they weren't PPV's. Thats just the way it was done back in England.

Second, with Ricky drawing HUGE live gates, the PPV figures went down somewhat. Thats to be expected.

Hatton has plenty of power here: especially given that Floyd has run his mouth. If Floyd offers a shitty contract he'll get laughed out of the business. He's forced to offer Ricky a proper contract, hell almost in SPITE of himself now.

Will Floyd MAN UP and come to London, like McClellan and Hagler, Tate and Winky did?? Probably not. He's too much of a self-centered self-serving fuck for that.

Well, if I was Ricky, I'd fight Cotto. In Michigan. See if that doesn't piss the little shit right off.

In honesty, Hatton has a lot of fans here, but precious few are "hugging his nuts". Even I am saying Hatton has to go for Cotto next. Most of the "nut hugging" is drawn from Floyds vitriol, rather than an innate desire to kiss Rickys ass.

Ricky needs to keep up the good work, and fight/beat Cotto.

When was the last time you heard a Roy Jones fan insist he took on Chad Dawson in his next fight??
