Unrelated to that matchup, but I feel a similar way about Taylor-Lopez. That's a fight Josh should jump on as soon as he beats Ramirez, assuming he beats Ramirez easily. By as early as 2021, Lopez figures to be too much for Taylor. I mean, he might already be.
Speaking of Arrogant Fans, Did You Read the Lyle Fitzsimmons Pre-Fight Article???...It's HILARIOUS After the Fact... Lomachenko's Weekend Dominance Will Leave a Historic Impression REED
I think he's a very rare class of fighter today, a man who only loses to guys who have obvious physical advantages and who demolishes anyone who doesn't. Even at that, his two losses are close points decisions. One of them he arguably never lost. Agreed he's not Roy but who is. As soon as Roys physical advantages went, he didn't look so hot. I think Lopez might well have KO'd anyone else the other night, never mind losing the 2nd half the fight, which he did.
Ohhh I read it! Reading it is what prompted me to say in my prediction, "I've never wanted to be wrong so bad." I knew Fimo had the physical talent to do, but I didn't think he was mentally ready. He proved me wrong. That and, Loma showed that he's not the God people think he is. "Ohhh, but he's so small!" "Ohhh, those 14 months off!" "He was downloading Fimo!" Nope! I don't wanna hear it. Lomachenko is simply not quite as good as his hype. With his 14-2 ass.
Nobody would care that he's not Roy if he was never compared to Roy. But he was. He was compared to Roy, to Floyd, to Ali, and to Whitaker. Crawford's never been compared to those guys, only Loma. But Loma is closer to Crawford level than either of them are to Roy or Floyd.
I never talked Loma up or was ever a groupie or believed he was better than Floyd etc. I read his results, moved on. Rarely got involved. All the time Algieiri was shiting on about "downloading" and shit.......I was laughing. He couldn't figure it out and then went for it and did very well. He just didn't deserve that 119 BS. That was vulgar.
I remember it wasn't long ago that Davis was looking like a sizable favorite over Shakur. Now, I think Stevenson would kick Tank's ass.
We all agree with the fact that 119 was corrupt. That's 11-1, which is ridiculous. But still, he lost 8-4... which is still a clear loss.
The Thing is, Fitzsimmons CAN Write and he's One of BoxingScene's Top Dogs... Don't Recall Him FanBoying Over Loma OR Any Other Fighter Quite Like THAT Before...Granted, REED's Got 15-20 Years of DOCUMENTED Journalistic Nuthuggery On His Resume, But Those Allegiances are Transparent, Worn on the Sleeves and Established from Day 1... And Presented Tongue in Cheek...Fitzsimmons was a Bit SMARMY In his Delivery...Can't Wait for his Follow-Up... I save my scoring outrage for when a guy who really WON gets fucked. Like when Lara won 10 or 11 rounds from Paul Williams and got fucked. Or when Ike Quartey won 7-8 of 10 rounds from Vernon Forrest and got fucked. I don't too outraged when a guy who clearly won, wins on the cards lopsidedly. And it was really only Julie Lederman's card that was outrageous.
When Loma was losing and trying to resort to bending the rules, I think Son of Judges got a hard on. Ward's regressing lately, I dunno what's going on with him. He was great at HBO, but now he's annoying me more and more. Bradley is complicated, because 75% of the time Braddles is an annoying Top Rank shill - but 25% of the time he'll call it like it is, and call out Ward on his bullshit.
Yeah, Bradley Put Dre on the SPOT for Sure, for NEVER Actually Giving a Prediction....REED Can't Say He'd Ever Noticed it Prior to Bradley Pointing it Out, But Tim was Correct... From There, Dre Spent the Rest of the Night WANTING His Prediction to Pan Out, vs. Simply Calling the Fight as it Played Out...Not One of Ward's Better Broadcasts, but he SHITS on Bradly, in REED's Opinion... Bradley's IMPROVING, But he's a CHOPPY Speaker...Not Smoooooooooth or WORDY at All...He BALANCES the Broadcast Team Though, Because Mark Kriegel Can Be ANNOYINGLY Wordy... REED
Dre-Bradley aren't perfect, but then you realize our only alternatives in terms of fighters are the Latin Fake on DAZN, and Abner Mares on Showtime. Dre-Bradley are all we have.
Bradley and Dre are GROWING on REED for Sure... Despite how AWKWARD Bradley Speaks at Times, He ISN'T Afraid to Criticize Anybody...Not Saying Dre IS, but Dre's More Diplomatic in his Criticizes, Whereas if Bradley Thinks you Suck He'll Bluntly Say "You Suck"... They have GOOD Chemistry Also... REED Likes Sergio Mora MORE than You Do, Clearly...Pretty Indifferent on Chris Mannix @ this Point...Looooove Brian Kinney Whenever he's Utilized... Abner Mares is GOOD on the PBC Studio Show w/Shawn Porter and Kate Abdo...But REED Just Ain't Feeling Abner as a Ringside Commentator...Different Skillsets... Paulie Malignaggi is SORELY Missed on Showtime Airwaves...Whether he's RACIST or Not, They Need to Bring Paulie Back... REED
I got no problem with people comparing Loma to Whitaker, Floyd and Roy. It’s pretty obvious they’re all on the same level talent wise. All four of those guys have done things on a level that I’ve never seen done before in the ring. You can try to downplay Loma’s talent for Crawford’s averageness all you want but tell me one thing Crawford does that is above average. I’ve seen Loma stand in the pocket in infighting range and consistently slip punches, and he did this to Lopez who is a pretty quick handed puncher himself. Loma’s defensive reflexes are amazing. Unlike Whitaker and Floyd he not only effectively and consistently slips and evades punches but he catches them on his gloves, not in a barrier type way like a Winky Wright. Loma actually catches those shots by moving his hands into the punches intended path. Loma also has very good and quick counter punching speed and reflexes. On top of all that he’s brought a level of cardio and endurance that I’ve never before witnessed in the ring. The guy can continuously throw punches on a level that no other fighter can compare to. Obviously Loma doesn’t have the resume’ of those other guys but when it comes to talent people act like it’s some kind of blasphemy to make that comparison and I completely disagree. Loma’s talent is on the same level as those guys but Crawford’s certainly isn’t.
Come on man, let's take nothing from Lopez but let's not rewrite history either........the only guy straying low and being warned repeatedly was Lopez........it was not a dirty fight but what bit of dirty it had, Lopez was more than contributing to. See what I am worried about is that people will remember this as some 120-108 for the ages paint-job where Loma was exposed as a dirty butting loser. In reality he fought the bigger man hard down the stretch and landed a lot of good clean leather.
I save my outrage for that too but it's worth pointing out that sometimes a guy was so badly fucked that even small changes which could have won him the fight, had he made them, would have been futile. Loma could have dropped Lopez two or three times in there and barely got a draw and that is truly not the fight I watched.
Agreed. I think it's an important point even if the final verdict was correct. It showed that for some reason one fighter seemingly couldn't have done enough to win. Sometimes judges seem to buy into a storyline of what's unfolding rather than scoring the actual rounds. Announcers are guilty of it all the time, but judges should be beyond that. Canelo-Mayweather being a draw by one judge is largely forgotten because the correct outcome occurred. It shouldn't be. The only terrible card that seems to get talked about is Leonard-Hagler but i think that's mainly because the decision was controversial.
A rematch in not in Loma's best interest. He'll start faster and will get hurt earlier. Lopez is clearly the better puncher and when Loma got home he (Lopez) never looked hurt. Winded, yes. Hurt, no. Lopez would sit down and wait to catch him coming in. Some of ya'll won't like this but I could see a Donaire-Darchinyan I type KO. Loma walks into a shot he never sees. (NOTE: not comparing skill sets of the fighters, only the KO)
Think it's premature to discount Loma in a re. Woud I pick him? No?. But he had enough succes that I could see making a few adjustments and winning the re
Anything's Possible, but Loma Would Be a HEAVY Underdog in a RE, in REED's Opinion... Short of Starting Faster and Some Advantageous Head Clashes, There's Really No Other Adjustments Loma Could Make... If Lopez JUST Had Power or JUST Had Speed or JUST Had a Good Jab, Loma Would Have a Stronger Case, But he was Troubled ON SEVERAL Levels by Teofimo...Size, Length, Footwork, Body Attack and the Ability to Rapidly CLOSE Distance, Among Other Things... Loma Would HAVE to Start Faster But Then He's in the Danger Zone w/a FRESH Teofimo Lopez, a Place He Didn't Want to Be this Past Saturday... REED
Well its not. Fimo Sr. confirmed that the target is now Josh Taylor. I fully expect Loma to return to 130.
