I agree with this. I just meant it'll be interesting to see who he's matched up with if he wins. 140 might be wide open for him. Cause I'm thinking if Taylor beats Ramirez (which he most likely will) that Taylor will move up to fight Bud either late 2021, or early 2022, UNLESS Covid changes everything. Meaning that, with Taylor gone, 140 would be wide open for Fimo.
If Loma lost this one and then retired, it would be difficult to define his worth in ATG, HoF sense, since his career has been so unique. Usually (not always) HoF has required long and successful career, whereas Loma has had mere fifteen fights. He seemed phenomenal at feather and super-feather, but is that time frame enough to define him as an ATG? I don't know. Rigondeaux is bit similar, although he had even fewer defining fights. Are his amateur achievements and unquestionable qualities enough for HoF?
On another point, I hate it when the surprise winner doesn't get his due while everybody is quick to yell how overrated the losing favorite was all along. Sometimes it just happens that a good fighter loses to an even better fighter
Indeed, but since we are talking about stupid fans and their reactions and how they rate people those terms are often used interchangeably. I can understand people comparing Lomachenko to other great fighters talent and skill wise. It's something you can see with your own eyes. Putting him up there with Jones/Whitaker or whomever based on that alone is wrong. The outstanding problem is at his age there is no possible way he can build up a resume comparable to past greats at this point, even if he ages as well as somebody like Hopkins. He's kind of in his own strange category.
Then we have to have a separate ATG debate, because HOF is already a lock for Loma. Fuckin Barry McGugian is in the HOF, and McGuigan's entire career is based off his one win over a washed up Pedroza (well, he also beat up Laporte). Loma's definitely getting in the Hall. ATG? Now, that remains to be seen.
if lopez knocks out lomachenko then he is bigger money opponent for taylor and/or ramirez. i think they'd both rather face him than go up to fight crawford.
Taylor doesn't strike me as a guy who's ALLLLLL about the money. Some guys are more than others, but Taylor gives me the vibes of a kid who's Hell bent on proving himself. Taylor's said numerous times that he considers Bud the P4P #1, and he wants to be the one to take his 0. I think he would target Crawford after he beats Ramirez - even if Fimo is more money. Now, that might not be what TR wants, but TR might also wanna give Lopez a few easy fights if he wins, because he'd now be their ace. Don't wanna risk their ace against Taylor just yet. We're talking about a BIG if though, cause there's an 80% chance Fimo's losing Saturday.
I think when Arum signed Josh, the long-term plan was always to make a Crawford-Taylor fight. TR knows Ramirez ain't that good. Arum knows the public wants Crawford-Spence, but he's hoping Taylor whups Ramirez, so he can make a big fight that doesn't involve him having to share the pot. I'm 100% sure that TR has Crawford-Taylor in mind for the future. I'm postulating it goes like this - Crawford beats Brook, then fights one more no hoper. Taylor beats Ramirez, then fights one gimme after that - then Crawford-Taylor.
if lopez KOs lomachenko a victory over him for taylor would get him more money, notoriety, credit than a win over crawford. crawford isnt universally respected. i talk to a lot of ppl who say he beat no one and is over rated.
We'll see - we can definitely revisit this post if Lopez wins, but I think it's gonna be moot. Loma's gonna whup Lopez's ass, and Fimo's gonna need 1-2 fights to build himself back up. Taylor can't make 140 too much longer. So if the expected outcome happens on Saturday, I think we will see Crawford-Taylor. If the unexpected outcome happens (Lopez win) it probably does change everything.
It'll Certainly Mean Something to REED, as his Post Fight Video Will Indicate, if Loma is Victorious... This is THE Most Dangerous Fight of Loma's Pro Career, in REED's Opinion... REED
It Would Be Like Floyd's Win Over Canelo, a Win that Fuuuuuurther Enhances Floyd's Legacy the More Canelo Accomplishes... Whatever Teofimo Did AFTER Losing to Loma Would Similarly ENHANCE Loma's Legacy, After the Fact... REED
TR might expect Taylor to beat Ramirez, but if Ramirez manages to win, you can bet they will try to sell Crawford/Ramirez as some kind of superfight to settle it all (it won't come close). You mentioned there are fighters more concerned with proving themself than money. Crawford is not one of them.
If Ramirez wins TR definitely will make Crawford-Ramirez. Hopefully Taylor wins though, because Crawford-Taylor is a compelling matchup. Crawford-Ramirez is a mismatch.
Teofimo is too static. Loma has perfected a style to beat orthodox fighters easily. He continuously does that slip to the outside away from the right hand and then clobbers them with power shots from a weird angle. Teofimo is going to get lit up all night. Coming in looking for one punch. Crying on a tv show about his dad. The boy is weak.
Surprised that so many see this as a competitive match. Teo has potential, but hes pretty much a kid who talked himself into a money fight
Reed, please change the swanky intro music. Something a little more upbeat. And wtf is the “Televizion!!” ?!?? Otherwise, I really enjoy your analysis’.
SMFH. Boxing in 2020:- Surprisingly, the bout is not being broadcast on a conventional UK TV channel. Promoter Bob Arum told iFL TV: “I don’t think any of the television networks in the UK have bothered to buy that fight. “Where’s Sky and where’s BT and where’s ITV? If it’s such a great fight, how come nobody’s bought it? “Meanwhile every bit of Eddie’s junk goes on Sky and they make the poor fans in the UK shell out money to watch all of this stuff… “A television network that is doing boxing should buy a Lomachenko vs Lopez fight, which is a classic lightweight championship for all four belts.” Instead, the action will be available to UK viewers through FITE TV which is an online pay-per-view streaming service. Their website states: “FITE streams a rich array of live pay-per-view events, subscription packages and thousands of hours of live and on demand free programs to millions of fans around the world. “The premium content you want, delivered how you want it – Online to Mobile to TV and OTT. We go where you go with amazing quality and value.” To watch Lomachenko vs Lopez, you’ll need to make a FITE TV account and buy the PPV. From there, you can watch the fight on various different smart devices including a phone, tablet, laptop, games console or smart TV. Lomachenko vs Lopez: PPV price Lomachenko vs Lopez is available through FITE TV for an online PPV price of £9.99."
I will put £5 on Lopez to get the win. I feel he will do it, or get it done for him, as is usually the case in these things.
I don’t know enough about these dudes to garner an accurate prediction, so I’m just gonna sit back and enjoy the fight - hope somebody gets put to sleep (other than me of course.. ).
Berlanga looks seriously heavy handed indeed. Opposition was nothing much but he'd never been stopped either.
Berlanga now being forced to do pushups by his trainer as penance for a mistake he made during a 79 second knockout. Dudes trainer is CLEARLY the greatest most astutest trainer of are times. Or a recidivist attention-seeker. I can't decide.
