Exactly. If they did, they would all show various vulnerabilities at times rather than making it look like routine work. Now is everybody not only worried about the 'O' , but trying to do it in the easiest way possible. It seems you almost have to show some vulnerability before the promoters will chance their fighters against you.

When a fighter appears too dangerous any talk of a fight is "well we'll see/it depends/maybe next year". They get roughed up or stunned badly and all of a sudden you don't hear the same reluctance from potential rivals. "I've been demanding this fight for a long time"

He's only being put on a pedestal for what he's accomplished so far in so few fights and how impressive he's looked doing it. Only the most excitable of fans think he can beat the best of previous generations. I wouldn't pick him over most at the moment, especially not @ 135. Style wise naturally he'd fare worse for some than he would others.

Tbh I actually think Lomachenko is UNDERRATED on this forum.

I don't think any boxer in history is a clear level above Chenko.

I mean, he is the single greatest amateur boxer of all time with a record of 396-1 ffs. That's unfathomable. And a double olympic gold medalist.

Yeah I know pro boxing is a whole other kettle of fish, but IMO he's just as exceptional as a pro, when you look at what he's doing with like 10 fights.

I know X highlighted the Salido loss, but I don't pay it much more mind than Hopkins losing his pro debut. Doesn't mean much imo. It was a slightly nervous, uncertain looking Lomachenko who was a bit too ambitious for his own good, and should have at least got a couple of 12 rounders under the belt before taking on a solid and mean world level operator like Salido. Not to mention that cunt needed to foul and weight cheat his way to a close win.

Xplosive himself just marvelled at the way Lomachenko made little Gary look like a scrub in only his 3rd pro fight. That's exceptional, no one in history has come close to doing that with basically no pro fights, including Floyd. In Floyd's 4th pro fight he fought a guy making his debut, who would retire with a record of 0-4, lol.

So forgive me if I'm not ready to call him overrated based on him KOing Linares, but getting clipped and losing a couple of rounds in the process.

Everyone gets clipped and everyone loses rounds., even Floyd. Floyd is a defensive master who takes far less risks than Chenko, despite having basically an iron chin, yet even Floyd has been caught right on the button and dropped or hurt by Corley, Judah, and Mosley for example.

A big part is probably that we're used to Chenko being so insanely dominant and making even good fighters like Gondo look like heavybags, we hold him to an extremely high standard, so it's surprising and disappointing for him to even lose a couple of rounds to someone like Linares.

And Linares btw is also underrated on this forum. X talks about him like a total scrub, but that's actually not true. I remember early on, I actually thought the hype was warranted, he is fast and skilled and powerful, just a pretty good all round boxer. He is simply let down by a lack of durability as Ugo also pointed out. So it's not the biggest shock that he gave Chenko some trouble, especially in his first fight at 135.

Again let's not forget Castillo arguably beat Floyd (imo he did, clearly) in Floyd's first fight at 135.

I don’t think that Loma is a “clear underdog” against anyone 130 and below.

Does it not? I mean, Arguello was an amazing fighter but he's not having an easy time of it in there man.

Linares dropped Loma with a right hand. Arguello had a much harder right hand. Therefore Arguello kills him.

I think the fact that Loma is an aggressive technician doesn't bode well in the end for him against Arguello. You talk about UNDERRATED... Arguello has quickly become one of the more UNDERRATED greats. I think people have either forgotten, or don't know how masterful/devastating of an offensive technician the man was.

If there's LEGIT questions on this forum if Loma beats MIKEY GARCIA, then it's way fucking premature to speculate if he could beat the Explosive Thin Man. Unless, one of these biased ass "today is the golden age of boxing" posters wanna claim that Mikey is on Arguello's level.

Stop with the Loma hype, it really is kind of annoying. Jorge Linares is shit.

why does lomachenko have to fight the same way he did against linares if he were to face arguello? that is not his best strategy and not one he is married to

Arguello was fantastic, don't get me wrong. It's this whole thing where contemporary fighters are completely written off against boxers from the past that does my head in. Lomachenko is clearly good, very good. To say he is at least competitive with Arguello is not blasphemy at all, and it's not hyperbole. As Mex said, the guy is arguably the greatest amateur of all time, it's not like we're saying Khan beats Leonard or something like that. Loma can fight.

I already explained it. Loma lost rounds and was even (gasp) dropped by Linares. Arguello is much better and harder hitting than Linares so that means he completely butchers Lomachenko.

What would Loma’s chances be against Rosario?

Loma was knocked down against Linares. Rosario was better and hit harder.

Therefore. I like the way your mind works. You're able to see outcome A and know what it translates to for outcome B.

    I agree with X.

For me, Loma's chin is still a question mark. It's not made of glass, obviously. But he has yet to be hit by a legitimate knock out puncher. Mikey can hit. And with his timing and accuracy, he could potentially do some real damage.

Individualism has corrupted the mind of the average american to such an extent that they don't realise that what they personally think is irrelevant. All the judges and almost all unofficial scorecards had the fight pretty much even.

All Anyone’s Saying is We HAVE Seen Enough to NOT Completely Discount Lomachenko’s Chances, Bruh.

REED Damn Sure Ain’t Sitting Here Telling You Loma BEATS Arguello, But Knowing Arguello Struggled MIGHTILY w/the Speed and Unorthodoxy of Aaron Pryor, REED Doesn’t Get How You Sooooooo EASILY Dismiss Loma’s Chances.

Whether Fans Lean Towards Ol’ School or Contemporary, we Should ALL Assess Mythical Matchups on a Case by Case Basis.

That Said, Lomachenko is QUITE Capable of Giving Prime Arguello Problems, Based On STYLES Alone.

Just as Loma Fans CANT Rule Out Him Getting STRETCHED by Arguello, Based On the Linares Fight.

    Thank you.

Think of it the other way around. Lomachenko is a retired great fighter and you've just witnessed a prime Arguello lose (let alone struggle a bit) to Vilomar Fernandez.

"Imagine what Lomachenko would do to Arguello! In 12 fights Lomachenko won three world titles while Alexis was still fighting homeless guys in Managua lol!"

TO be honest to X, he never said Arguello would have a field day with Loma. Only that it wouldn't end well for him. And on that, I agree with him. I'm sure Loma would pocket a lot of rounds, but I'm also pretty sure he would eventually get caught with one of these unpredicable right hand bombs that Arguello was camoufling so well.

Lol. That is bonkers. You think we disagree about the particulars of a recent boxing match because I'm American and my mind is corrupted?

That is not the point. The point is that it is irrelevant whether me or you thought that Loma was winning rather comfortably (We both thought he was), since the vast majority thought it was pretty much an even fight. I'm not narcissistic enough to think my opinion supercede the aggregate one.

So it is narcissistic of me to express my opinion since it conflicts with the majority?

Exactly this. It is quite possible Arguello would stretch Loma, heck, with his ability to punch it is possible he would collect Floyd too.

However, Arguello fans (such as me) should remember better than anybody that struggling doesn't equal with losing. Outside kevinrooneys, Arguello hardly ever won easily, yet he is about as great as they become

No, but it is narcissistic of you to think that your opinion is a valid counterpoint to what is generally accepted
