What is the big deal with Juanma? Even Arum seemed to like him more than he liked Gamboa. The kid has average speed, average power, and average skills. I was actually rooting for Mtagwa for two reasons. Just to see a nice upset and to get rid of a mediocre prospect.

Juanma is a poor mans Cotto and I'd pick the more talented Gamboa if they do fight next.

It's almost like you waited for a bad showing to be so insightful.

Definitely top 5 fight of the year.

JUanma clearly won the first six rounds plus the 11. That's 7 rounds to 5, plus the 10-8 for the fifth round. No controversy here, but Juanma needs to go back to the drawing board and learn more defense. His jab was mostly absent and barely attacked the body. His stamina was almost gone by the 10th.

Was it a bad showing or what the kid looks like with a step up in competition? You tell me.

Not a good performance by Lopez. Tried way too hard to look for the KO and didn't use his jab at all and was at times FLAILING with his shots. Very poor.

I still think he's better than the overrated Gamboa who's fought nothing but bums. Juanma has fought the better comp.

But Lopez does have work to do and he needs to learn that its not about looking for the KO everytime.

Yup. Trying to look for the KO since the opening bell with no apparent strategy or plan to fight this guy, that obviously was overlooking before the fight. Juanma is good, no doubt, but this kind of mistake put him in a life-or-death situation with a C level contender that costs him credibility among elite fighters. He cannot make these kind of mistakes anymore or his undefeated record and belt will go down the drain.

Agreed! Juanma is much better than he showed tonight. Like you pointed out he didnt seem to have no apparent STRATEGY and it almost cost him!

Well if everyone is in agreement it was just a bad showing I'll take it as such since I've never seen the kid fight before tonight. Still with all the hype he's been getting and me having just recently read a Ring Magazine article about him and his future I came away very unimpressed for now but I'll reserve my opinion on him until I've seen more.

Cotto was almost KTFO in 2 separate ocasions before the Margarito fight. Once against Corley and the other against Torres. To Juanma's credit he survived. I was almost sure he was going to get stopped at one point. THis fight will serve as a huge LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I'm sure they will go back to the basics and Tito will give Juanma a ear full. At this point Lopez needs to rest for the rest of the year. He fought a STUPID fight and almost paid the price!

</P>To Lopez credit not only he managed to remain on his feet while he was dizzy and had no more legs on that last round, but also he was able to land most of his very weak punches on Mtagwa's face, which tells how accurate Lopez punches were.

Juanma just needs to slow down....he doesn't have to go for the KO in every fucking second, minute of a round...

Say what you want to say about Tito but he has a shit load of experience that he can share with Juanma. They are very close friends so it cant hurt any. Juanma simply needs to go back to the basics including with DEFENSE.

Seems as though Lopez will keep active. After a fight like that I thought they would rest him a little more. It will be interesting to see how Lopez looks next time around.
