Manny is just a freak of nature. Just like Usian Bolt for athletics.
People will presume that they are taking something to help them become more superior than their opponent when what it is, is that they are just a class above the rest!
Manny will prove to be one of the greats when he beats Mayweather. :kidcool:

Really. Do you have a study to support this? They certainly make people run faster, but they can have no possible effect on handspeed, as shown by the slowness of proven offenders like Roy Jones and Shane Mosley? :crafty:

yes they do. Not in combination sense, but the biggest profit you can get out of steroids is the increase of explosive power (which is why sprinters and weightlifters take them) and speed of punch means exactly that

It's possible that Pacquiao is a freak of nature, but it's not hard to be suspicious of him. I'm not sure how much trust can be put into official heights and weights, but Pac has gained a large amount of lean muscle weight as an adult. Officially, Barry Bonds put 35 to 40 pounds onto a much larger frame over his career compared to Pacs 25 to 30 pounds.

Mosley looked the slowest he's ever looked when he allegedly took steroids. He looked slower, stiffer, and less fluid, but perhaps physically stronger.

I think he had trained wrong, he had gained too much mass instead of staying sharp. Btw hasn't Mosley been suspected for roiding for longer than the Hoya rematch?

Steroids help in all physically demanding sports and few sports are physically harder than boxing. Boxers are not tested during their training periods and that is when steroids are useful, not at the fight time. So steroids potentially help you get rich and succesful and it is near impossible to get caught for them. Whether you believe fighters take them or not, that is for you to decide (not directed to MWS)

You mentioned that before, but traces of most drugs stay in your body for a long time.

Do traces of steroids really disappear that easily?

They do. According to professional trainers (from other sports) when you know the dates you are tested, it is very easy not to get caught. I don't know how long it is accurately, but the time is short enough to get full profit for your conditioning and strength training.

It's also my understanding that in many sports athletes do the heavy training during the preseason, and lay off once the season starts, which would make timing of testing a very big issue. A boxer could easily do his own routine before training camp, and both benefit and test clean during training.

I don´t think there is any testing in training, which makes boxing one of the easiest sports to cheat. You have to be a totally idiot to get caught in boxing. Olympic endurance sports like swimming, athletics, cycling, winter sports all have rigorous training testing and almost nobody is caught unless their doping gets totally out of hand, like when Landis needed to make up five minutes on one Tour stage and overdosed. Amazingly he drove alone for 150 kilometres and was still faster than the group behind him, which shows what an amazing effect doping can have. Most stuff is undetectable anyway. The biggest busts of the last years weren´t positive tests, but drug lab busts like Balco and Fuentes.

I see steroids as a GREAT benefit for fighters who are moving up in weight classes.

When it comes to world class fighters, five pounds in weight makes such a difference. Junior welters just punch harder than lightweights. Their chins are used to taking harder shots. It has what has made it such an accomplishment when boxers move up in weight and win titles. I'm not making any accusations but now you have a lightweight (Mosley) jump straight into welterweight and seems to lose nothing. You have a guy who was fighting at 126 six years ago tearing through welterweights. It just makes you wonder.

I think Pacquiao is just a freak of nature, for one.

Second of all, he's a gym rat, probably eats right and takes good care of himself.

He doesn't go into training camps battling weight like most guys do these days.

I think its alot of things. Could he be on some PED???... Maybe but most guys are these days. At the gym I work out at, I've heard people say that its well known in boxing circles that Mosley takes HGH. Ditto with PBF.

Its all speculation honestly. Show me some proof first. Not just the words of a guy who lost to two fighters that Pacquiao convincingly beat.

Depends what kind. Toney took Deca which stays in your system for over a year. Others leave the body quickly, so you can stop after a certain period and come up clean.

Some drugs aren't tested for, chemists are ahead of the curve, athletes like Shane Mosley can pass drug tests after taking steroids and EPO and Marion Jones passed the tests at the 2000 Olympics. Which is one reason why I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a huge number of people in all pro sports were on some form of illegal PED.

I think cutting lots of weight and rehydrating plays a part in this, as well. Mosley was a big weight-cutter at LW who unofficially weighed like 150 for LW fights on fight night, and outweighed DLH on fight night at WW. Pacquiao was in the mid to high 140s for JLW and LW bouts.

:crafty: As if your beloved Hopkins isn't on them, there is really nothing that Hopkins doesn't exploit in boxing, I honestly cant think of any other boxer who exploits the sport worse than Hopkins, he breaks every rule in the ring, wraps his own hands and hardens his tape in ice-water, and juices up.. yet Mosely is your boogie man?..

Well, if Manny takes steroids, they must be in very low doses because IMO he isn't big enough and I know the guy, and he is a great man and fighter, but a small man, I'd say 5'5 with shoes on, and his muscles are not ripping through his shirt, either.

I'm kind of over Mosley's PED use, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Hopkins were on some shit either.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but again, I don't know if there's any athlete in pro sports that I'd really be surprised if they were on some illegal PED. I have little faith in the "honesty and integrity" of competitive sports at a high level.
