This is true....but though I don't agree with the spirit of it, Hex DOES have a point.

Floyd fought a brilliant fight and I was one of the first on here after the bout Saturday talking about how dominating, subtle and brilliant his performance was.

But that said....Hatton IS a small 147 lber.; did not look well at all in his first foray to welter; his style doesn't translate well to higher weights because it is so dependent on a strength advantage; and has shown some vulnerabilities before even at 140.

So the performance was a brilliant one for PBF, but there were folks on here gushing a bit too much - like if this one win suddenly made PBF the best fighter of the ages and the GOAT or some such.

I think it's just a natural reaction to how well he performed and the fact that he beat Hatton at his own game, so I understand it.

    Proper perspective is in order.

That said, the win - and the NATURE of the win - is a big feather in the cap for PBF and the fact is that Hatton was PxP rated.

    Peace.

You're exactly right, and the funny thing that I found a few weeks going into the fight was how much the press and media were giving Ricky such a huge chance of winning the fight. To me it all seemed like a big bullshit campaign just to sell the fight.

I'm not saying Ricky had no chance, but the way the media was portraying it was a bit much when you compare the 2 guys credentials. It was almost like Leonard-Hearns by comparison.

Yes Donny, Hatton is not a big Welter but neither is Floyd. It's like Barrera beating Morales at 130. These guys are about the same size so wherever they fought didn't matter IMO, the better fighter won. Had it been a Margarito, Baldomir or Williams the yeah, it's really not the same because they're natural big Welterweights and size would play a big role.

And no, I'm not saying this win makes him the GOAT. Jesusssss  It was just a brilliant performance by a great fighter, let's admire that.

Not saying it was you, bro. I just remember reading the overall tone of alot of posts and thinking it needed to be toned down a bit.

I was on here pointing out just how brilliant and dominating his performance was, make no mistake.

Oh, btw - PBF is clearly bigger than Hatton. People fixate on where fighters "started"....but that's not always relevant.

PBF has fought as high as 150 and has been at 147/154 for 2 years and 4 fights.

He is clearly bigger/stronger and that did play a part in the fight.

Manny Pacquiao is no less a natural FWT/SFWT because he started at flyweight....and RJJ was no less a 175 lber. because he started at 154.

PBF may be "small" at 147 relative to the other BIG WWTs there....but he's bigger than Hatton.

    Peace.

Size had little to do w/what happened Saturday. It had more to do with CLASS.

While this is true, too many are taking Floyd being larger for granted. I honestly thought Hatton was bigger until they started the fight. It was clear that Floyd was bigger.

Hatton doesn't belong any higher in weight and I think he's the same as Kostya in that respect. Floyd has the talent and the frame to complement his game at the higher weights, regardless of where he started.

</P>Hey this would would have happened 2 years ago at 140 if Hatton was ready. He turned down the fight a bunch of times when he was at 140. The size thing don't mean much anyways Floyd is a 140lber himself.

But the haters were saying he was gonna kill Floyd. At least im saying the same shit now as i was 1 week ago. The haters are the ones with the excuses after they picked him to loose.
