There were zero holding warnings when Margarito locked one arm and pounded away to the hip. Margarito's head was placed strategically directly underneath Williams chin every time they were in close, as well.
I don't subscribe so I didn't see the RBR scoring, but Fischer's article didn't seem off base to me. What's the problem?
how bout both guys giving the fight to margarito, when a 117-111 card wouldn't have bothered me at all
9-3 williams is more believable than 6-6 , in fact two scorers whose opinions i actually respect had it 9-3 and 8-4 williams
8-4 and 7-5 Williams are the two best scores IMO. Margarito should have started quicker. Maybe Williams wouldn't let him.
Like I said, Fischer's article didn't seem to reflect the outrage and defense of his scorecard like it did during DLH-Mosley II...and that was a much bigger shocker IMO. He seemd even-handed to me. If credibility simply laid with how you score every single fight, then there would be zero credibility left in boxing because it's way too subjective. His description of the flow and the roounds was accurate, even if his overall scoring wasn't the same. Then again, I guess some people already feel that there is no credibility in boxing so my point is moot :dunno:
The thing is, both Kim and Dougie basically called everyone who picked Williams an idiot on their show this week. It's really annoying to see they both scored it for Tony.
oh and btw, when I was ringside for Morales-Raheem, half of the "press" people there scored it close for Morales, so that'll give u an idea of how neutral the SoCal mexican lover reporters are when it comes to scoring.
williams won 1-6, 9, maybe 10 and 12. the guys at max have been on margarito's wagon far too long to see it fairly and unbiased. if margarito was so adamant about being robbed how come he let himself get bitchslapped in the final round. Had he won it, he wouldve (unfairly IMO) pulled off a draw. Williams imposed his gameplan, fought a better fight, and in the end wanted it more.

dsimon writes: I called it exact and more important and the point of this post... you didn't as far as I can recollect put in a prediction for this fight. If you want props for a record of predictions you have to put predictions in on all the fights. :dunno:
To me this fight was a lot like the first Hopkins-Taylor fight. While Taylor clearly won a bunch of early rounds, at the end of the fight it was Taylor that looked like he'd taking a beating. Unfortunately, without a couple knockdowns, it's tough to make up for losing so many early rounds. On top of that, unlike Taylor, Williams really closed the show in the 12th when the fight was literally still up for grabs..
dsimon writes: Thats a good point. Basically when all else was said and done that last round was huge for Williams it made a big statement.
Everyone knew that Williams style, stance, reach and height made him a tough opponent. What we clearly learned about Williams last night is that he's got the heart and desire to go along with the physical advantages. People always talk about young fighters finally answering tough questions in the ring. The knock on Williams going into last night was that he'd never been asked those questions. Last night, as the fight got heated down the stretch, he was asked and managed to properly answer every question.
:bears: Agreed. Both may have looked like losers to noobs in the end... but they both clearly won based on rounds.
