I think people are greatly exaggerating him being hurt by Larios AND Marquez.

I would say he was buzzed by both of them, briefly stunned.

When I was hurt, I mean HURT, ie on the verge of being knocked down or possible danger of a stoppage.

Since Pacman moved up to featherweight and above, he has never been properly hurt.

I agree that he was only hurt briefly that I won't take away, but hurt he definately was.
Each time he has been hurt he has came back very very well, it has alot to do with his heart as well as a good chin.

But to say he wasn't hurt by Marquez or Larios for that matter, is not true in anyway.

i'd used the word stunned. he never lost his legs against either of those guys (JMM or Larios). and that's particularly impressive through 24 rounds against JMM.

it occurred to me if anyone finds themselves wondering why Juarez fights with such hesitance, it's the same phenomenea we witnessed on saturday. he's just insistent on not being hit and his offense is compromised significantly as a result. Juarez thinks he's clever enough and has enough power and good enough timing that he doesn't need to risk getting hurt - he's counting on a few openings over the course of 12 rounds that will allow him to put his opponent away. and against B and even B+ competition the openings usually present themselves.

but among other things it's what will keep him from ever being great or even having the chance to be great (it's possible that his other deficiencies like his height could mean he'll never be great in any case but to address his anemic offense look no further than saturday's fight for an exaggerated version of what Juarez is looking to do - take no chances even if it means a guaranteed loss).

I htought he lost his legs for a brief second against Larios against the ropes...I could be mistaken.

    Marquez by split decision.

No, I don't put all of that on a hometown decision (although I think that may play a role). Diaz can throw in volume, even if he's not that hard a puncher, he can be accurate. Marquez is good defensively, but he takes chances. He leads with his head at times to sucker opponents into throwing leads rather than jab. I think this will backfire for him early.

The late part off the fight, however, when Marquez has Diaz timed properly, he'll potshot the hell out of him. Diaz won't quit, and he will still throw plenty, but they won't look as crisp as Marquez's punches. So I think Marquez will win a close fight, and the hometown buzz whenever Diaz "mounts a comeback" (but doesn't win the round) will lead to a judge giving a swing round to Diaz and making it split rather than unanimous.

I think JMM's accurate, fast and powerful counterpunching will reduce Diaz's output significantly, allowing JMM to set up the kill.

I actually think this will be one of JMM's easier fights. Diaz has never fought someone with the skills of JMM. I think he will quickly be spooked and subsequently stopped, if not dominated in a 9 to 3 type of a fight.

I think Diaz will win some rounds based on volume punching. Marquez will hurt him but wont' stop him.

Hopefully the judges will be fair:fightme:

Having a really tough time with this one. I think it's going to be razor close with a lot of debate over who won.

Marquez is a 7-5ish kind of fight that you can argue Diaz won.

    Me too, to be honest.

He is a solid enough fighter, but I've never thought he was that good really. I would be pretty amazed if he was able to beat a proven elite fighter in Gay Marquez.
