Really solid night of boxing. I'd still like to see any combination of Martinez, Williams and Pavlik. Those are all quality fights.

Don't get too carried away with Bute. He's looked excellent in his last two fights, but he's nowhere near proven enough to pick him over someone like Calzaghe.

I know Calzaghe isn't the most likeable fighter, in or out of the ring, but he is a very, very hard man to beat. The fact that you're laughing at the notion he'd beat Bute is, well, absurd really.

I'm wondering how Pavlik - Tall Paul would go actually. Stylistically, a completely different fight to tonight's.

It's still a great fight. I hope it happens no matter what happens in Martinez/Pavlik II

It's not that farfetched. Bute is good but nothing special.

Bro..... Joe is a coke fiend now. And his last career fight he went the distance with the corpse which was formely known as Roy Jones.

If he came outta retirement now I'd bet the farm on Bute to KO him cleanly.

Prime for prime at this point I'd still favor Joe. Though Bute is starting to prove that he wouldnt be an easy fight for ANY version of Joe.

I could see Joe come outta retirement and beat the mummy Froch.... but not Bute.

I agree. I like Bute....but, Andrade and Miranda....impressive as the knockouts were, they are just also-rans in the 168 picture.

Coming into this thread, i saw Calzaghe's name and before reading more closely i thought people were making comparisons with Martinez. Sergio's speed, timing, angles, hands-down southpaw style and in-and-out movements are Calzaghe-esque. I hope Sergio gets the p4p recognition he deserves now...it was a long time coming for Joe too.

I'd pick the huntsman. Pavlik probably takes a single shot better, but Paul is notoriously hard to discourage. I'd be leaning for Paul's sheer aggression to put Pavlik into his awkward one handed guard for too much of the fight. A fucking spectacular fight though, either way,..

Agreed. Pavlik-Williams is still a relevant fight. Barring him struggling big time with Cintron(which I doubt) I'd have to favor Tall Paul to beat Pav. However, Kelly would at least have a chance.

Vs Bute, Ward, and Dirrell at 168.... Kelly would have ZERO chance. I think Kess, Froch, and AA beat him also.

I don't think Pavlik wants it with the likes of Bute, Ward, or Dirrell. The only ones I'd give him a chance against are Abraham and Froch.

Anyway, what an ass whipping. Martinez took him to school.

I don't really see what Williams has to gain from fighting Pavlik now. Also, I think Pavlik will only stay at 160 to rematch Martinez.

If the clause isn't exercised, I think Williams-Martinez 2 is the fight to make....at which weight would be an interesting issue.

I dont think the Bobfather will let him fight Maravilla again.

I'm tellin ya.... Pav's comeback fight will be vs the winner of Chavez-Duddy.

Well Froch is hittable and thats the only reason I give Pavlik a chance, and Abraham takes alot of breaks, so that could hurt him.

But the rest of the guys tear him up, especially a Bute or a Dirrell.

But it doesn't matter because even if KP moves to 168, I doubt Arum puts him in with anyone who could seriously hurt him.

Froch would be his best chance, but even so... I think Frochy is stronger, and takes a better punch. I'm confident that AA would eventually land big, and Pav would go to sleep.

Much as a bitch as Dirrell is.... he'd look like Ray Leonard in there with Pav.

And I'd be pretty surprised if Pav lasted longer then 5 rounds with Bute.

Pav vs Bute will NEVER happen. That much I'm sure of.. No chance Pavlik would have there to even be competitive IMO.

Froch could very well out tough and eventually take out Pavlik because I don't see KP as being this huge puncher that he's cracked up to be. His power's overrated.

Abraham has the tools to KO him and it would be close I think. All depends on Abraham if he takes too many breaks.

Yeah Dirrell would pretty much cut Pavlik to pieces. I think he'd stop him late on cuts. Pavlik would be lost. lol.

Ward would do a similar job to what Dirrell would do but probably sooner.

Kessler I think would eventually KO him with his right cross or right uppercut.

Basically, Pavlik would have no chance at making a name for himself at 168.

Of course he is, but it's sad that it took another cheater, who was probably fed PED intravenously 24/7 in his training camp for the fight, that exposed him. In fact, Margarito probably loaded his gloves to level the playing field vs the known cheater:crying::crying:

Glad that Miranda had already broken my heart in the Abraham II fight or else I would be totally crushed tonight. While the stoppage was early as fuck, Miranda glass jaw and stupidity ( the taunting would have been badass if he could take a punch, but as it's not the case, it was retarded ) once again betrayed him when it seemed he was gonna fight an intelligent fight

Fuck off! It's pretty clear that you're anti-UK.

You never gave Hatton or Calzaghe an ounce of credit and even when you picked them to lose a fight you'd come back with reasons why somehow they stole the the fight.

I remember calling you and Alabama Man both out in the the betting forum when you both guaranteed that JL Castillo would give Hatton his first loss. Neither of you showed up but I made some money on some other people on that thread.

Martinez IS my favorite fighter at the moment with Morales making a comeback and Hatton still on hiatus and Calzaghe retired,Sergio Martinez is my favorite fighter right now.

I said prime for prime I'd pick Joe over Bute.

But Joe is an old coke fiend now, and in his last career fight he got dropped and went the distance with a shot to shit Jones.

Bute is a very good fighter, and very much in his prime. He'd fuck up the old coke fiend at this point.

I'll bet you on Kessler-Froch. I've got Froch and I'll bet anywhere from $20 -$100.

Sometimes he'd engage well,.. like that of a curious whiskery squid, the odd teasing swat and tickle, othertimes he exploded into full jet-ink repulsion,.. the latter is a no no,.. a displeasure to the spectacle,.. nobody wants an Arabham on wheels,.. unless the wheels are a stretcher into the ambulance post Miranda 1 :crafty:.

Bute deserves credit for several reasons, key amongst them are his willingness to rematch Bute, something he really didn't have to do, and then the manner in which he dispatched Bute with one shot to the guts.
