Reminds REED of a CLASSIC Tyson Quote, as he was Receiving 1 of those Bullshit, "Honorary" Degrees...

"I'm Not Sure what this Degree is In, but w/All these Beautiful Ladies I'm Seeing, Hopefully it's in GYNECOLOGY"

One thing you have to say about Lennox though, even though he is crappy as hell as a commentator, is that he has improved, and probably will continue to improve.

especially early on he was far too concerned with showing emotion and reacting passionately to the events in the ring, and it came off as so phony. but that shouldn't be his focus. if the fight is exciting, the fight is exciting. we don't need his fake and knee-jerk judgements as to whether or not a certain fighter is going to get up from a knock-down.

but in his last couple broadcasts, i've noticed his intellectual point of view coming through more, and that's really what we need from him - evaluations of the strategies being employed, the mention of subtle yet potentially fight determining events, and commentary on shifts in momentum. that's one thing i like about Steward is that he's cognizant of the fact that winning rounds isn't the end-all and be-all of winning fights. that's what i don't like about Lampley - he talks about fights like they're races to the bell to see who can win the most rounds. most fights aren't won that way. and it's nice when the commentators can weigh in on that matter, and provide insight that isn't simply echoing Lederman's insane scoring.

He calls Lampley on some of his b.s., that's about the only good thing I can say for Max.

The UFC commentators are somewhere between WWF commentators and Jim Lampley...and far closers to the former than the latter.

    Donald Trump disagrees.

He's glowed about him in interviews. :dunno:

Can't say, I've never watched the show.

Supposedly HBO gave a number of tryouts to some candidates (on non-televised HBO undercards) and it was after that process they chose Lennox.

Mesi might actually be someone they should look at, though.

There was an article in Russian newspaper, along with stenogram of one their games. The premise of the article was "The Brothers vowed to never fight each other, except at chess board". The level of play was ridiculously low. Basically, Quitkos know how to move pieces on the board, according to rules. That's all. I can claim to be a marathon runner, on the same premise, since I can run a few meters.
And Quitaly's PhD is bogus, of course. So is Wladimir's.
Getting a real PhD requires full-time commitment for YEARS.
There was basically a requirement in USSR, where any major sport figure was required to at least have a higher-education diploma (equivalent of Bachelor's in the US). Of course, their degrees was totally bogus, but the Soviets had to show to the world, that their sportsmen were pure "amateurs", whose main goal in life was education and career, and the sport achievements were just an addition to pursuit of those.
If you were a major sport figure, but too lazy even to pretend to attend college, you would "enlist in the Army", wear an uniform for a day or two,
and then never show up at barracks again.
Klitschko's took the same mentality with them to the pro ranks.
Plus, the brothers have a real inferiority complex.
Not only they "play chess" ( according to them), Wladimir once claimed to be a major Hollywood star (because he had like a 10-second cameo in Ocean's 11) and because Julia Roberts danced with him at some party.
The brothers are lying scumbags, plain and simple.

I meant to start a thread about this too.

Kellerman was explaining this crap while a fighter was getting KNOCKED OUT OF THE RING, something we only see on HBO about once every 5 years.

Don't get me wrong, I actually agree with Kellerman on that point... but how many friggin' times do you need to friggin' explain it?? Especially while the fight is going on (and an all action fight at that). That's something that should be said before the fight starts, and then left at that.

Kellerman should've been euthanized for that.

i'm imagining them and it wouldn't seem like a reason to marry her, unless she shoved em up his azz like they were cocks. i suppose that could've been his pleasure. a cock-handed broad bangin him in the azz. wow. in his wildest dreams he probably couldn't have imagined such novelty. but alas. he found it. and she sodomized him into oblivion.

God,Steve Albert is one of the absolute WORSE commentators in the game. Shit I think Bernstein is horrible, but he's the only that makes any fight commentating on Showtime bearable, though slightly:doh:

By Mentioning Emmanuel Steward, U've Made REED Think of the ONE Thing he Likes about Lennox Commentating (Other than his Accent)...

Whenever Manny is Training a Particular Fighter on HBO, Lennox DOES Provide GREAT Insight into How the Fighter was TRAINED or What Manny's Telling him N btwn Rounds...

But Other than When a Manny Steward Cat is Fighting, Lennox BLOWS...

Mesi is EXCELLENT, but he LACKS the "Name Recognition" to Back his Opinions...

When Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis or Roy Jones Make a STATEMENT about Boxing, it MEANS Something...

When Joe Mesi Does it, Sure, he Articulates his Point EXCELLENTLY, but Casual HBO Watchers will Wonder "Who's that?"...

    Don Dunphy...great
    Howard Cosell...sucked, I'm glad he's dead
    Tim Ryan...good
    Gil Clancy...great
    Marv Albert...you cannot be serious
    Ferdie Pacheco...sucked, I couldn't stand that fucker

Jimmy Lennon Sr....his son does a pretty good job (they look and sound alike), much better than that showbizzy fake-ass whore, Michael Buffer.

He also called out Lennox on it too.

After Bika did something dirty against Calzaghe, Lennox goes "I wouldn't have done that".

Max says "I think Michael Grant would disagree that you wouldn't do something like that".

After a long pause, Lennox says "no comment".

Max's good moments aren't too common, but that was one of them.

i enjoy watching whitaker fights more so than tommy hearns fights.

hearns was exciting, but at the same time, i've seen enough of his significant fights and dont really care to watch his later fights again.

Lennox is pretty poor as an analyst. I did get a kick out of him trying to pronounce the world "athleticism" during the Klitschko-Ibragimov fight.

Then DON'T Pretend that Merchant was GREAT @ his Job from Day One, Dog:lol: ...

N Fact, if U're Old Enough, U KNOW that Merchant PURPOSELY Altered his Commentating Style, Becoming More OVERTLY CONFRONTATIONAL Towards the End of Tyson's Reign...

Listen to Merchant During Duran-Palomino or Pryor-Arguello I...He's NO BETTER than Max Kellerman Currently Is...

Also, REED CAN'T See Max Becoming JADED w/the Sport of Boxing, as Merchant CLEARLY has Become...Max is an OPTIMIST, Merchant's a PESSIMIST...

As for Albert & Pacheco, they were THE VOICES of Boxing on NBC...When REED Reminisces on Frank "the Animal" Fletcher", John Mugabi, Bobby Czyz, Davey Moore, James Kinchen, etc., he HEARS Albert & Pacheco...

Albert had that Joe Tessitore Type of ENTHUSIASM, 25 Years Ago...
