Well that explains a lot. Thanks for the info AM, I was actually going to submit a response but now I see it isn't worth the effort. And before you get angry at me MIKE maybe you should look through this thread at how nobody seems to agree with the ridiculous statement you made. Mayorga really did well for himself, by having two fluke KO's and acting like a WWF wrestler during press conferences he's actually gone on to make himself some decent coin while fooling most of the general public and a handful of hardcore fans (Mike included) too. He'll likely go down in history as a top p4p entrant.....on the biggest farces in boxing list that is.
I don't believe Vargas was 264. He must have made that up. If he's been training for 6 or 7 months to get down to 183, that means he's lost 81 pounds thus far...that's believable... "However" He and MOsley fought last July at 154 which means Vargas must have gained 110 pounds in 5 months. Unless he was on a gravy and burrito IV, I don't see how that's possible.
If Vargas had understood what Mayorga was saying, his dumb fat ass would have reacted a lot faster. Instead, if you watch the tape, he clearly only perks up AFTER the translation. Now, I know Fatty is slow and all that....but if you're asking me, I think he needed to wait for the t-lation before making his mind up.
Well I remember after one of the Mosley-Vargas press conferences I saw a video of Mosley on his cell talking to somebody and he was like "did you see how big he (Vargas) was?" "Why would he do that?" So it's no surprise Vargas can't control his weight, he's got those fatty mexican genes. Besides his commitment and professionalism wanned years ago.
Vargas could conceivably balloon up to 400lbs when he retires. And he's always talking about "fat genes"....BULLSHIT...he EATS too much. Of the wrong shit. That lard laden junk.......
Let's see if I can come up with any posts that don't seem to agree with your claim that "Mayorga is easily miles a lesser fighter than Vargas ever was." Oh yeah, here's someone who disputes that: "He [Mayorga] loses a split decision". Guess who said that?
Mayorga is going to knock Vargas out. Nando cant take a good shot to the chin anymore. He is shot. Mayorga at this stage still has more in the tank than Vargas.
I've seem documentarys where women put on 100lbs in a couple months. Be real...once the metabolism drops, and the calories keep rolling in, and water retention starts, its real easy to get real heavy.
miKE, no one agrees with your stupid comment. To even suggest that Mayorga and Vargas are comparable in skills just makes you stupid and wrong. If that's the impression you want to give off, that's fine by me.
Try 10 donuts, lots of tea/coffee with sugar and milk, rich carb foods, lots of salt, no water, rich meats. No exercise. I used to box at around 144, and in the Summer I went from BONE THIN at 144 to quite fat at around 13 stone {180}, in the space of 3 months. Thats a fit strong guy laying off his roadwork and egg whites in exchange for his laptop and his lasagne/sweet teas. Its easily done. I promise you.
I still don't buy it. The guy in "Supersize Me" gained 25 pounds in a month and had liver damage and other health problems..that was after 1 month. In order for Vargas to have gained that much weight, he would have had to gain 22 pounds per month for five months. There's no way his body wouldn't have shutdown after such a rapid weight gain.
I think Vargas has a walk around weight of 200 pounds. But I heard with all his back problems and other health issues it's hard for him to exercise. So I could imagine him reaching 264.
The quote refers to their ability to fight, not their skill level. Read it. "a lesser fighter". There's no reason to infer that means skill level and only a fool would suggest that skill level solely determines the level of a fighter. Mayorga has arguably accomplished more than Vargas and his wins are comparable. There's no reason to believe that he's "easily miles a lesser fighter" than Vargas. And plenty of people in this thread are picking Mayorga, for whatever that is worth. Btw, if you aren't Rebel, he's your soul brother.
lb 4 lb explained what his comments meant, why are you trying to reinterpret them? He obviously was talking about skill. You're playing dumb because everyone was bagging on how stupid your comments were. ::
Vargas does have back problems and tends to gain weight alot. but alot has to do with his lack of dicipline. It's ridiculous the fact that he had most of his carreer at 154. hell he's been pretty honest about what he eats when not training. He said plenty of times he don't give a shit.
No, he didn't. If he obvioulsy was talking about skill, he should have said so. And if he obvioulsy was talking about skill, he obviously should have used a word that implies skill instead of 'fighter' which doesn't.
Dude you already lost. You got beat up on the ropes and the ref saved you. Stop claiming you had a hurt hand and walk out of the ring like a man. :dunno:
That smiley should be the only thing you are allowed to post. Why don't you try staying on point instead of drifting off into non sequitur land in 90% of your posts?
What the hell separates Vargas from Mayorga? I'll take the Forrest that Mayroga beat, over the Quartey that Vargas beat. Neither was a legit P4P entrant, but they both were. Rightly, or wrongly. Was Mayorga skilled? Erm...no. But that don't mean shit. As for who was better than the other? :dunno: Prime for Prime, there's no reason to think that Mayorga was somehow significantly lesser than Vargas. Fernando has this built in excuse that he was "ruined" by Trinidad. Well, besides Quartey, Trinidad was the first legit opponent that Fernando faced.
Dont forget the Wright fight. Vargas lost, but he manage to win 4, maybe 5 rounds. Mayorga would not have won a single round from a prime Winky. Hell, Mayorga is so limited he would have probably struggled with Campas. Theres no doubt whatever in my mind that the best version of Vargas beats the best version of Mayorga, and does so by late TKO. Hell, if the pre-Tito Vargas was around today, with no prime Tito around, he'd be the best fighter from 147-154, since Mosley and DLH are both wash ups at this point.
Mayorga couldn't have won a round vs. a "prime" Wright, but Soliman, Vargas, Vasquez, Simon, McKart, Candelo and Hernandez could? Please. Buy another ticket.
