There's a difference between disliking and liking fighters and still being able to look past it. Double L don't do that. If he hates a fighter, no credit is given prediod. Even if they beat up his favorites. Seriously, it's not that complicated to understand.

uh, a considerably older Castillo, and at 140 pounds, where Castillo was never proven.

plus, it's not like Hatton wasn't able to fight his fight against Collazo. he just couldn't hurt or discourage Collazo. and wasn't strong enough to neutralize Collazo with his holding. you see where I'm going?

i gave PBF credit for not getting KTFO by ODH. what else do you want from me? doesn't change the fact that i want to see him get beat. and it doesn't change the fact that ODH fought stupid.

Regarding PBF and his success against taller/shorter fighters, mainly it's more of the styles and strengths of the opponents rather than their heights.

Castillo is listed as the same height as PBF, it was mainly his pressure and strength that gave PBF the most trouble. Where as in Floyd's 2nd hardest fight, against the bigger/taller DLH, it was DLH's jab and parrying skills that troubled PBF the most. The 3rd toughest fight for PBF was against the shorter Judah, it was mainly Judah's speed, sneaky left uppercuts and the straight left that troubled PBF. The southpaw stance helped too.

It's been a mixed bag of who PBF beats with greater/lesser difficulty. Diego Corrales and Genaro Hernandez were tall, but Corrales rarely jabbed though and his ring-cutting skills are weak. Jesus Chavez (the 2nd one PBF faced), who is short, made things uncomfortable for Floyd with his activity and made him work harder than usual, but he still had a tough time landing and was countered silly. Among Floyd's list of opponents, he probably is the closet thing stylistically to Hatton. You can argue Castillo if you want, and that gives an better argument for those supporting Ricky.

in short (no pun intended) Floyd does better against taller opponents than shorter ones

Yeah, Oscar's the only tall opponent who's been competitive with him. The others (Ndou, G. Hernandez, Chico) were dominated.

Which makes me think that Floyd would beat Paul Williams with his leaky defence and the way he leans in. If that argentinian that Kermit starched could touch PW chin than Floyd would with ease.

I like the supposedly "unintended" pun.

In any event...I tend to agree. As a Floyd fan I'd MUCH RATHER he fought Margarito than Hatton. That would be an easy fight to predict. Floyd would potshot him with relative ease winning at least 8 rounds. He'd never be in difficulty.

Against Hatton, however, he has to deal with a swarming, roughouse, stamina daddy...who seemingly has a great chin. Also Hatton's height makes it more likely that Floyd misses with teh left hook lead and hurts hit hands by grazing the top of his head.

Double L should be HAPPY Floyd is fighting Hatton.

    BULLSHIT...

    The TRUE "Consensus" (Brian Kinney,ESPN2,HBO,RING Magazine,MOST Websites,etc.)Harped on Floyd NOT Being LINEAR @ 140 & 147...

There was MUCH MORE Talk about Floyd Fighting BALDOMIR than Margarito...Margarito Was,Is & WILL ALWAYS B a Mere FOOTNOTE on the OUTSKIRTS of what the MAJOR PLAYERS R Doing,N the Division...

There is NOTHING wrong with this fight. Floyd is not the bigger fighter and Hatton is no pushover.

Both guys deserve huge respect if this fight gets made. This is the kind of thing boxing needs. :bears:

Yep. Same thing happened with LL - Vitali. When Byrd was looked at as the next fight, LL is ducking VK. Once it went the other way...

    You know the rest.

:nono: Uh, in the case of Brian Kinney, there's a clear BI-POLAR difference that you are well aware of, ^ between demanding Fraud fight Carlos Baldomir and CORRECTING Fraud's self-serving ''retribution ritual'' upon the subject of the legitimacy of the 'IBF' title that remained in Zab's clutches despite the humiliating loss,..(somewhere around this point Kinney actually PUT DOWN Baldomir as a journeyman who couldn't afford to pay all the sanctioning fees).

ALSO, if those extensive scribes you mention were harping on Fraud not being the linear junior-welterweight champion :notallthere: then obviously they TOO,.. must be "correcting" something???,..who in thier right mind would say that Fraud WAS the linear champion of 140 aside from Fraud himself?......

Brian Kinney was quick to address, Fraud's narrcisstic ramblings centred around his bout being for WELTERWEIGHT SUPREMECY, and address he certainly did, to the RAGE and shock of Fraud's groupies who retorted, (amongst claims of racism and using athletes to boost thier own profiles) that "Had Floyd chosen to fight a SCRUB like Bumdomir, he would have, and should have, recieved even more hatred and criticism, so we can think ourselves lucky"....in other words,.."It's the best of two evils"....and this is good for boxing Reed?...funnily enough, Fraud fought them BOTH...lol

Now also in the context of my original point,...Baldomir might be "linear" for beating that glass chinned-mental midget, but to say he was the most dangerous and most compelling opponent for Fraud to fight, is a HYPOCRITICAL^^ load of bullshit,...and THIS seems to be the model subject of most of my battles....I'm fighting for the integrity of the sport, usually AGAINST hardcore groupies, whom, if it suits thier idols agenda, will clearly lend in your case, ^^^^ arbitrary support for sanctioning bodies, and corperate enterprizes who have no hesitations preying off peoples apathy to keep thier contractually obligated boxers cozey(One of the probable reasons Larry Merchant was threatenned with the axe, for blowing the whistle in interviews),..there are a few forms of blowing the whistle you know, Bob Arum blew the whistle :crafty:, and speaking of which, those media sources you list, did NOT complain in unison for Fraud to challenge Baldomir ABOVE ALL OTHERS, NOR are they activists for Fraud's dictatorship in refusing to acknowledge Margarito's existence, MORE were documenting Fraud's flustered and hissey-fitted entailments at press conferences by HEADLINING his bizarre emotional refusal to face Antonio Margarito,..you especially, are still showing the after effects of this frenzy in mid 2006....

One of the voices for your apparent sources by the way, ^ HBO's Jim Lampley, while discussing Floyd's future opponents after the Sharmba fight,..said..

"Let's make it specific, should Floyd fight Antonio Margarito who's the strongest of the welterweights I think", ..."Yes he should, yes he should" Roy Jones replied. ..........WTF!?... WHO? Reed, WHO?....:eeeek: How does Jim Lampley and your beloved Roy know who Margarito is?...and DARE to suggest that Fraud fight him?,...that's obviously not in sync with the reality of your Margarito-hating properghanda,.......how extraordinary,.....^ and scariest thing of all is to reaise that Lampley said this, before ANY of your scribes, and you, and me, and Fightbeat, had the faintest fucking idea of who 'Bumdomir' was,..

    "Who?".....

:nono: Reed please, it's been a long journey, but you've been "worthy" of the effort, I'm looking forward to your reply, that I imagine will be FILLED with concessions..

I'm a massive Floyd hater, but i'll be the first to give him credit if this fight is made.

I CAN'T believe people are complaining about this.

Hatton is undefeated, and a PFP guy. 140 pounds is probably still Mayweathers optimal fighting weight.

I'm pissed about his 'reigns' at 140 and 147, but he can now go back and make up for it.

I rag on Mayweather all the time because of the fact that he takes the easy route, but this definately is not.

If this fight gets made, it makes perfect sense. It gives the Welterweight division some time to establish a serious number 1, who if Mayweather wins this, i would expect him to fight.

The key to all this is Floyd taking the fight at 140, and not 142 or 144 or whatever.

Then he REALLY will be the undisputed 140 champ. Hopefully we can get a Williams-Mosley fight signed for around the same time, and the 2 winners can face each other.

Beating Hatton and the top guy at 147 after, would be Floyds 2 BIGGEST WINS OF HIS CAREER in my opinion.

I understand why so many people hate on Floyd, i feel the same way. But you can't deny his talent and if he finally grows some balls everyone should be excited about it.

I'm pretty sure Castillo-Coralles II was at nowhere near 135 for either man. That fight was at Welter.:nono: :nono: And Castillo looked kinda like a puncher at 140+

ridiculous conclusion to draw. and what about Sosa? PBF didn't have an easy time with him. and he wasn't short.

and so what if PBF "could" touch PW's chin? he's not hurtin him. that's for sure.

Mosley is by far a better fighter with a better resume than Hatton. There is no doubt about that.

    So,if Floyd DOESN'T Concede to Hatton's PREFERRED Weight,it WON'T Count???:dunno:

N a Floyd-Hatton Fight,Hatton's Lb 4 Lb Status & his Undefeated Record R MORE IMPORTANT than a Jr. Welterweight Title...Floyd's ALREADY Got Enough Titles,he just Needs to Add 3-4 More SIGNIFICANT Names to his Resume...

Doesn't Matter if Hatton's Title is on the Line OR if they Fight @ 140:nono: ...Floyd Can LITERALLY Say he Beat the LINEAR Guys @ 130,135,140 AND 147...

HONESTLY,do U Think it's MORE Important to Hatton to Win Another Welterweight Title or to B the 1st Man to BEAT Floyd Mayweather???...Hatton COULDN'T & SHOULDN'T Care Less about Floyd's Title...

142,143,144 would B MORE than Fair...

You don't think it would be more impressive if Floyd fought Hatton at his best weight? I doubt he will, but it would certainly be more impressive if he did.

Exactamundo. And weight is a complete non-issue on this one. They both weighed 148 in their last fight despite being two divisions apart, so they are clearly the same size, regardless of what division they're fighting in.

    Hatton UD Floyd.

I don't want to here shit about weight. Hatton has been at the higher weight the majority of his career. Not to mention Floyd has never walked into the ring weighing 160 pounds like Hatton has.

Exactly, this is how boxing should be. The best should always fight the best. It just happens so infrequently that it's become the exception rather than the rule and that sucks for the fans.

Meaning how often to top guys like this face each other anymore? Especially while they're both on top.

This is today's version of Leonard - Duran. Stature-wise, neither of these guys could be much bigger in the sport than they are right now.

De La Hoya also started at a lighter weight than Hatton, same with Mosely, same with Castillo,..but they are all CLEARLY bigger than him.
Some people just start at thier legitimate career weight, Tszyu and Hatton both have tiny frames,..:nono: UH,..never mind the walk around weight of '160', that would only be valid if he struggles at the scales, he OBVIOUSLY blows up into a beach ball and has been the butt of many parodies because of it.

Is Fraud bigger than Hatton?.. I'd say height to frame to thickness ratio, he is slightly, Fraud is about as tall as Collazo, and he's a LEGITIMATE junior welterweight, he admitted it himself that he outgrew 135, but the sizes are still relatively similar, definitely NOT the type of difference for people to suggest "Fraud won because of his size"....I agree with you there, it's not an excuse.
