just because Hatton doesn't train like PBF and eats like a pig between fights doesn't mean he's the bigger guy. he's not. he's clearly smaller.

I wouldn't say Hatton and Tszyu have tiny frames. They're thicker, and stocky, similar to Cotto. Fighters like De La Hoya and Mayweather had the ranginess, and the skills and styles, to excel in several weight classes.

Floyd is the smaller fighter...He weighs less every day of the year except the day before Hatton weighs in for a fight.

:nono: Nah Cotto's the very definition of THICK,.. Hatton's not thick, I still don't know how Hatton had this apparent size advantage over Castillo, checkout out ANY press conference photos, Castillo was CLEARLY the bigger fighter in every measureable direction,..Tszyu was a little stocky, but he was even shorter than Hatton. :crafty: By the way Fraud doesn't suceed in higher weights primarily due to his "ranginess",..he suceeds in higher weights because he's only fought one significantly bigger fighter than himself so far, but most importantly of all, he fights backwards<<,..when you move up in weight and fight forwards>>, that's when success really deserves the "amazing" merit :nono: ...running around the ring against heavier lumber can be an advantage,..especially with that shoulder roll shit to bail him out of trouble spots.

like i said - that doesn't mean sht. when duran was fighting at 160, and mccallum at 154. is duran is bigger than mccallum?

just because PBF is more disciplined, has a better diet, and trains more doesn't mean he's smaller than hatton.

Floyd started at 130lbs. And he was at that weight well into his mid twenties. Hatton since become an adult was NEVER able to fight at 130lbs.

That's all you need to know.

Yeah, Hatton's actually been fighting @ 140 or 147 since before then, back when he was a teenage amateur.

Oscar De La Hoya continues to solidify his position as one of the smartest men in boxing. According to Dan Rafael, Golden Boy may end up promoting the possible clash between WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Ricky Hatton - if it ever comes off.

Pursuant to the terms of the contract for the De La Hoya-Mayweather May 5 bout, Golden Boy Promotions claims to have an option on Mayweather.

The original target date for Mayweather-Hatton was November 10 in Las Vegas, but will likely move to December due to a conflict with a possible Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley bout, which falls on the same day.

Ok, so if the fight doesn't happen, it'll be because of ODLH.
I don't thnk Floyd should fight Hatton at all, if ODLH is the promoter.
Instead, Floyd should have a tune-up fight.....he deserves one after his last 3 championship fights.

Leonard Ellerbe, adviser to Mayweather, told USA TODAY that details will come with an official announcement as early as Monday.

"This is a great fight for the fans," Ellerbe said Friday. "We have two young unbeaten fighters, at the top of their game, from two different countries going against each other. It's what boxing needs."

Ellerbe applauded Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs) for taking the fight, which will be contested at the 147-pound welterweight limit, seven pounds more than Hatton's optimum weight as a junior welterweight.

"I never thought he would do it, but Ricky Hatton deserves credit for stepping up to the plate," Ellerbe said. "He asked for it and now he's going to get it. Floyd is a extremely excited. He wants to show Hatton that he's never fought at this level before. He's going to show him what it's like to step in the ring with the best fighter."

Mayweather (38-0, 24 KOs) defeated Oscar De La Hoya on May 5 in the highest-grossing fight in history to capture the WBC super welterweight title, but Mayweather vacated that title to allow Vernon Forrest and Carlos Baldomir to fight for the belt Saturday in Tacoma, Wash.. (HBO, 10:15 p.m.).

Mayweather still holds the WBC and Ring Magazine welterweight belts, but it hasn't been determined if the fight against Hatton will be a title or non-title 12-round bout.

"Floyd's bigger than any belt," Ellerbe said."He doesn't need it because he's universally known as boxing's best fighter."

Mayweather, 30, announced he was retiring following the De La Hoya fight but he became motivated to get back into the ring after Hatton beat Jose Luis Castillo in an HBO-televised bout and issued a direct challenge to him.

"You saw more excitement in those four rounds than you've seen in Floyd's whole career," said Hatton, 28, who stopped Castillo in the fourth round with a left hook to the liver to defend the IBO junior welterweight crown. The Manchester, England, native also briefly held the WBA welterweight belt before going back down to 140.

Mayweather said Hatton's derisive statement was enough to bring him out of retirement.

"He got in front of the media and called my name out," Mayweather said. "He didn't think I was going to respond, but it doesn't work like that. I've accomplished too much in the sport for him to disrespect me."

On Dec. 8, Mayweather and Hatton will get a chance to work things out.

Size will have nothing to do with determining the outcome of this fight..

All the Floyd-haters, like myself, will have to give credit to Mayweather if he actually fights and beats Ricky Hatton.

Hatton is a guy who has stepped up and dominated his opponents in big fights. If Mayweather beats him it will be because Floyd is a great fighter. It will have nothing to do with weight, size, ring, hurricanes, shoes, location, etc.

Hatton is slightly smaller then Floyd.
Though their respective size difference should not matter.

:eeeek: AHAAAA!!! where's "the fix was in!" bandwagon,...? ^^ this is the same way he recruited Hopkins!,..

 De La Hoya is a fucken scumbag. He can keep dragging his old bones out of retirement, and recruit any fighter he wants for his promotional company with a little extra curricular appeasing.

never happen....floyd hasn't humiliated anyone since corralles, hell he couldn't do anything with Gatti that a thousand bantamweights before him hadn't. In fact, after the Bumdomir debacle, I'd say the last person Floyd really embarassed was, uh, Flid.

And Dimidimmer, the only untermensch present on the night will be Floyd and his gaggle of yes men. Thats if the bitch makes it that far.

Dim pimple is going to laugh when Hatton is beaten into a froth by Floyd. What will you say then Ortho? It will be a sticky situation my Hibernian friend. Ricky may yet get to resease a sticky glue like substance on Floyd's leg as he humps away. But in the meantime Ricky will eat leather liberally and Caligula will not make his scheduled appearance to publickly suck Ricky's pasty nuts.

Dim Pimple is a troll but he will look like a knowledgable poster when this is over. Ricky will have to beat Margo,Cotto or Mosley to get back in the game Ortho.... He should be able to beat Margarito and Mosley but Cotto could be a problem.

On contrary, my friend! Hatton is a prime-example of an untermensh, being British and all......British are second only to Irish and Armenians, in terms of being less than humans.......In fact, I can see Ricky quitting around the 11-th......Do you see Ricky quitting, or just the fight being stopped on cuts?
