He's a boxer, he follows what ever rules are in place.

As far as "clearing his name" that is some bullshit. If you're going to throw out serious accusations like PED's, you better have some fucking proof. It's fucked to say it's up to Pac to clear his name when there is nothing to clear. You can demand all the testing in the world, but calling someone out and saying they are on PED's is uncalled for. IMO

With that said, the fight needs to be made so take the fucking tests and get this done.

Except when he doesn't want to follow them. Then the rules don't matter. But in this case, all of a sudden the commission is holier than thou and must be adhered to at all costs.

Right. Now why does this matter? Did those accusations stop Manny from negotiating a fight? No. Do you remember what did? Oh yeah...the random drug tests. Correct me if I'm wrong but...I could've sworn that Manny had no issues with anything Floyd Sr said until he realized what the USADA testing entailed (remember, the testing he said he'd have no issues with?). Then all of a sudden those accusations were a problem and he realized it was better to sue for $75,000 then to take the tests and then get $40 mil to punch out the guy who slandered him.

    Amen!

It sounds like something the sport as a whole needs to be doing. That is the point right or is this just about FM v MP for you?

The fact that the tight tanked the first time exposed a serious issue with the way Peds are handled in boxing. Shouldn't we be asking for it to be fixed for good not just for this one fight?

Of course we should be asking - that's the problem! The commission isn't going to do sh*t unless the promoters and fighters are on board. So when we have one of the sport's biggest fighters and promoter taking a sh*t on it and then running off to Texas, why would Nevada want to continue to lose that kind of money? It starts from the ground up, man.

Manny has followed every rule of every commision, has he not? I don't see where he didn't want to follow a rule.

I'm not going to get into a guilty or not debate over manny's supposed PED use. My posts was in response to people demanding Manny "clear his name" as if he's guilty of something. Manny is guilty of nothing as far as ANYONE knows. Whether or not he wants to take the test.

Erik Morales and Oscar De La Hoya disagree. So does Floyd Mayweather, who was willing to pay $10m for every pound he weighed over 147.

Whatever. I'm not calling any man who has repeatedly tripped over his own lies and contradictions "innocent."

    Here is MY position:

Test the shit out of everybody! Make it public through an organizing body, out of the hands of individual FIGHTERS.

Mayweather is RIGHT but for him the world was a perfect place before Pacquaio became the best FIGHTER in the world.

If Pacquaio never became the FIGHTER of the decade, and became a THREAT not only to him but to his TITLE, this crusade would have never been started in the first place.

Well, haven't some posters here actually gotten to that point? FIGHTER used to be a good poster, but he has been reduced to misspelled platitudes and one-syllable words now. It's a joke.

People need to grow up and realize that this is far, far bigger than Pac or Floyd. I have my doubts about a number of other prominent fighters in terms of PED use, and the Klitschkos are at the top of the list. But of course there can never be any proof of this because they will never be required to take an accurate test.

I am not looking to prove PED use on a message board, which is impossible anyway. I am looking to have the commissions update their testing so the rats get caught, and the guys playing fair get an even break. If this is not going to happen any time soon, then true boxing fans need to marginalize and attach a stigma to boxers who refuse enhanced testing when it is asked of them. Absent action by commissions, that is the only way a true boxing fan can make some sort of small difference in cleaning things up.

Stop spouting "make da fight" like a bunch of uninformed morons. You sound like the part time boxing fans who think Mike Tyson should fight Oscar next. Until this issue is resolved in boxing in general, a lot of fights may end up jeapordized. It bodes ill and it needs to be fixed.

How exactly did McGwire get caught?

Holyfield's name was found among the list of those supplied in two separate steroid rings. One of which where he went by the name of Evan Fields, someone who happened to live in close proximity to Holyfield's mansion and also happened to have the same phone number.

Godfather, help me out here. One, are you privy to my conversations? Two...does it matter that no one was talking about it (according to you)? Does it? Why don't we forget what Floyd Sr said for a moment and start taking a look at the actions of the fighter in question. And be objective. Floyd's allegations didn't stop Manny from negotiating a fight with his son. And it didn't stop him from agreeing to stricter testing. So why is Floyd Sr the issue and not everything that transpired after?

You know I'm glad I decided to wait until I was home to reply to this. So rather than reply to your condescending and rambling post in kind, I will attempt to use reason.

Firstly, I have never stated that Floyd should have to retract the testing clause. I did say originally that the timing was convenient. I still think it was but FM does have that right. I also said that I find it hard to attribute altruism to FM's motives based on his own opinion of the sport and legacy in general. I did add the caveat that if he is really concerned about PEDs and that is why he wanted the testing the he deserves credit.

I think we can take it as gospel that FM v MP doesn't happen without USDA testing so let's leave that alone for now. The reason I talk about having it set at commission level is so it is no longer negotiable AT ALL.

I understand that this will take a long time to happen. In the meantime, the imperfect method of setting the condition in negotiations can and should continue. I just believe that should only be a temporary solution while we make it the rule.

I'm not going to address your 'murder' clarification as it is neither relevant nor required, nor your accusations of me condemning Floyd for demanding the testing when I have NEVER DONE IT.

In fact, outside of refusing to treat your opinion on Pacquiao's PED use as fact, you and I aren't very far apart on this issue at all. I think it's likely that MP is on PEDs and if he ducks this fight again over it will basically cement that opinion but that's all it is OPINION.

So what it all breaks down to is that my 'ilk' consists of guys like MWS, Feebles and a few others who think testing is a good thing for the sport and should be implemented. However because we don't like opinion being stated as fact, we're somehow the 'enemy' who needs you to swing in with an overly verbose response full of irrelevant examples that can be boiled down to: You think Manny is on PEDs and anyone who doesn't agree exactly with your opinion is an idiot.

Some of you guys really need to remove yourselves emotionally from this. I come here to debate boxing and this is an interesting topic. Sadly, it can't seem to be raised without the usual nuthugger/hater stuff.

I apologise for anything in this post that sounds harsh or angry. Believe me when I say it is not a personal thing directed at any of you. I'm just frustrated that this cannot be discussed rationally.

I further apologise for my own hypocrisy in typing this overly verbose post. I am aware of the irony.

This is an excellent post and I certainly understand your reasoning. The sport of boxing is bigger than any fighter and we can only hope that the commissions would man up and do the right thing. Waiting for that, however, is a pipe dream. I do know that had this issue not been brought to the light, they wouldn't have cared. Maybe things will change but this shows, once again, that it's the fighters and promoters who run the show, not the commissions. And as long as we have one major superstar (with a powerhouse promoter) with a real aversion to testing that should already be standard, the chances of seeing change are slim. Until then, no fighter should have to wait for a commission. And honestly, before Pacquiao bestowed upon them such high honor, when did anyone give a f*ck about commissions anyway? I'm not buying the diversion.

Finally, I agree that the nuthugger/hater thing needs to stop. Does anyone care about the facts? As a fighter, I think Pacquiao is an ATG. He is special. I was also pretty harsh on Floyd from the time he moved up to 147 until he signed to fight Mosley. None of that is going to stop me from calling it like I see it. And if you compiled the facts of the past few months, I think you can draw a solid opinion. Yes, an opinion - which is all we have right now. And who knows, maybe some of us are wrong. But looking at everything that's transpired, it's not hard to see that it's his fans (and Floyd haters) who are blinding themselves to the harsh reality that is slowly unfolding before their eyes. How quickly we forget. Perhaps we should go back and read the clippings from when Baseball's PED scandal first broke. And as true fans of the sport, learn from that. We can choose to stick our heads in the sand and wait for everything to implode or we can start holding some of these fighters accountable. I wouldn't worry about the commission if I were you. I'd worry about the guys who pay them to keep their heads in the dirt.
