if he was fighting ortiz in borneo and not las vegas i would eat some of that crow. you do also realize that ortiz is hardly getting paid shit in comparison to what pacquiao would also be demanding if that was a legitimate offer.

That's certainly a good point, but if they are guaranteeing Mayweather 40 million for a fight with Ortiz then 65 for a Pac fight seems about right.

A Pac - Mayweather fight would be enormous. I guess I just don't find it hard to believe that there would be enough in the pot for each guy to make at least 65mil.

    Maybe if Ortiz beats Mayweather

Why do Floyd nuthuggers insist that Pac only fights Mayweathers leftovers?

3 of Pacs last 5 opponents, Mayweather never faced. There are only so many top contenders hovering around the division so they're bound to fight some of the same guys.

In a 56 fight career Pac has fought 4 of the same guys as Mayweather. 3 of which Mayweather fought first. That hardly qualifies as a pattern. These guys are the two top WW's out there, why would they not face a few of the same guys?

it's not that as much as a counter to peoples argument that Floyd "hasn't fought anyone." when you look at his recent resume you see that he defeated DLH and Hatton before Pac and those are the two guys that Pac gained his rep from in the beginning of his superstardom. fighting mosley last month just made it kind of funny to bring up again

If Ortiz wins you can bet your ass that Manny takes the tests.

If Ortiz wins you can bet Ortiz won't give two shits if Manny tests or not. He'll be happy to take the payday.

Uuuuuh, Gatti WAS a BUM Compared to Ortiz, Dude...Ortiz is BIGGER, YOUNGER, STRONGER, More ATHLETIC, a HARDER Puncher, etc...AND he's a Southpaw...U Can Keep the "Fortitude", Because in & Of itself Fortitude DOESN'T Win Fights...

Mayweather ISN'T a PHYSICAL, Grinding Type of Fighter...He's NOT Marcos Maidana...So the Idea of Floyd having Ortiz All but Crawling Out of the Ring, by Round 5, Seems EXAGGERATED...

REED is Right There w/U in Being TIRED of Getting Strung Along by Floyd AND Pac, but there's NOfuckingWAY Floyd was Going to Come Off of 13 Month Layoff & Jump Right in there w/Pac...Moreso, Pac's ALREADY Signed to Fight Marquez...Given those Circumstances, Floyd vs. Ortiz is a CREDIBLE Matchup...

REED'l Enjoy THIS 1 & Save his Angst for 2012 When/If Floyd 1nce Again Decides to NOT Face Manny...

I'm no longer interested in Floyd fights unless he fights Pacquiao. People should boycott Floyd untill he fights Pacquiao.

    Word.

besides it appears to me that this is the fight he's using to prepare himself for Pacquiao...seeing as ortiz is a southpaw with some power.

Ali was offerered Joe Frazier in just his second fight after returning to the ring....he opted to fight the tough Bonavena before in order to shake off the ring rust befor ethe true challenge. Wise move. Fighting Frazier earlier than that could have been disaster.

    Same with Floyd re Pac.

Yeah, difference being, when Ali returned he fought Quarry, Bonavena and Frazier in the span of 6 months...............and that was after a 3 1/2 year layoff.

Please don't compare Mayweather to Ali. :shit:

Pac and his team can't get his fights quckily enough after each bs fight. The Mosley fight was signed a few hours after the Margarito fight was over.

    Strawman. :Ramonza:

I'm saying that Mayweather needs a tough tune up after a long layoff before facing the main man.

I wasn't talking about frequency of fights or whether or not he's as great as Ali.

    You know...

I thought I was at the forefront of the Pretty Boy Floyd Hate Machine...obviously I'm not. I can't figure out why/how Floyd gets shit for this. It's the best possible fight at welterweight for him. It's not like he lined up Berto.

But Right now it's Mayweather who waited until after Pac had a fight done to make his "come back"

    Which isn't saying much.

It would be different if this was a routine mandatory defense. Floyd hasn't been sidelined with a million injures, sent to prison or the military.

He could have been fighting all this time. The Pacquiao fight could have been done well over a year ago.

Instead there's another "comeback" fight against an opponent who's "respectable" because he's the best of the worst in a division that's been all but cleaned out.

For a guy who's been @ #1 or #2 P4P as far back as recent memory goes and may only have a handful of fights remaining? Sorry it just doesn't cut it.

Ortiz is not a bad opponent when upgrading from names such as Mathew Hatton or Spadafora (both were mentioned) but when all you want is for Floyd to fight Manny, it's a gigantic down grade.

By the time Pac is done with Marquez in October or November two years would have passed since the possibility of this was conceived...maybe three.

The world didn't stop in that timeframe. If anything waiting has had an adverse affect. Manny hasn't set the world on fire in his last few fights and Floyd has been M.I.A.

We could be in for a tremendous letdown...like let's say Floyd goes to jail. Or both look like shit or one looks like shit. Floyd will be 35 by the time he steps into the ring with Manny in 2012.

Manny's political career and icon/god-like status could have his head elsewhere.

I just have a feeling the fight was ripe earlier this year...tacking on an additional year will stale date the fight.

Like someone mentioned earlier...Ali was away almost four years then within six months of his return jumped in with Frazier. Under the floyd plan, he would have gotten to Frazier the first time by 1974...that's when he fought Foreman.
