Doubt it... 1.2 PPV x $55 =66 Million plus Venue/Arena tickets, merchandise,etc..etc let say 100-120 MILLION.... if the fight generates 100-120 million I don't see Mayweather taking almost half the pie..... 40 Million seem to be the NEW number everyone throw around when talking about Mayweather...Mosley, Ortiz, Spadafora, Matthew Hatton....whoever Mayweather is making 40 million...:kick:
Many Floyd fans are disilussioned by his ducking behaviour. You can also see it on this site. I think his market value has gone down a bit. Hopefully he will be pressured for a Pac fight.
I wonder what Floyd thinks the future holds for him. I think he could be another Tyson-lite. A bit of infamy, a bit of jail, lost fortunes and tax issues.
Ortiz has just come out with a statement saying that he thinks floyd is quick, a great fighter, but is not impressed with his style.
They did after the first negotiation. Currently, Floyd turned the last fight down and seems to have conveniently waited for Manny to sign another fight before announcing his 'comeback'. Whether that's true or not, Floyd clearly has credibility issues at the moment.
Half the money goes to the ppv distributor, half to taxes, some to trainers and team members and promoter, etc. Floyd probably goes home with about $12-15 million or so.
Floyd is Sooooo IMMATURE & INSECURE that he Probably ASKS the Promoters to @ Least SAY he's Getting X Amount of Dollars, even when he Really ISN'T...Like when the WWE Said they Paid Floyd $25 Mil or whatever, for his Match vs. Big Show... Floyd Wants the PERCEPTION of Making $40 Mil & he'll even BRAG about Making $40 Mil, when in REALITY he'll B LUCKY to Bring Home $15 mil... REED
I like this fight. I think Floyd wins but Ortiz will make it interesting. It's hard to inmagine but Floyd is fighting somebody 10 years younger than him.
Has anybody considered that maybe the 40mil and 65mil numbers being thrown around are in regards to the total fight purse ? Seems to me that this is the typical item involved when the various promoters and 'money' people are in the early stages of negotiating a fight. Then from that purse it is split between the different fighters, trainers, teams etc..
Floyd HASN'T fought anyone. Remember that time when all the best most dangerous welterweights were all fighting each other? Clottey fought Cotto, Margarito, and Pacquiao. Did Clottey fight Floyd? No. Cotto fought Clottey, Margarito, Pacquiao and Mosley. Did Cotto fight Floyd? No. Margarito fought Mosley, Cotto, Clottey, Pacquiao, Williams and Mosley. Did Margarito fight Floyd? No. Mosley fought Cotto, Margarito, and Pacquiao. Did Mosley fight Floyd? Yes, I'll give you that one. I'm not even going to mention how old or over the hill Shane was. I'll give you that one. Pacquiao fought Mosley, Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito. Did Pacquiao fight Floyd? No, Floyd's running scared of Pacquiao. So when all these really dangerous welters were fighting each other where was Floyd? He was playing it safe and not taking chances which is all his career has been about. How can Floyd say he's the best welterweight? How can it even be an argument that Floyd is the better welterweight than Pacquiao is? Pac proved he was the best by beating the best. With Floyd everyone just assumes he would have beaten all those guys. Sorry but I'm not buying that and I am surprised and appalled with how easily everyone on here accepted the Ortiz matchup. I guess Floyd can do no wrong. I mean let's face it, the only reason Floyd is allowed a pass with Ortiz is because Pacquiao beat all the other opponents into borderline retirements. You almost can't blame Floyd for running scared from the guy.
Never said Clottey was great. All I'm saying is Floyd never ever would have fought him. Floyd will fight anyone...that he gets to pick and choose. Isn't it nice how we'll forever get to wonder if he was even good enough to dominate his own division? But hey let's all give Floyd a hand for fighting a guy who just went life and death with a fraud and before that was on his way out of the top ten whilst continually having his heart questioned. So the secret to fighting soft touches and getting away with it is to just fight every 15 months and call every fight a tune up? That's fucking brilliant.
When Mayweather was at 130lbs, who was considered the next best fighter? Corrales who was also undefeated. Did Mayweather fight him? Yes. When Mayweather moved up to 135lbs, who was considered the best fighter? Castillo. Did Mayweather fight him? Yes. When Mayweather moved up to 140lbs, who was considered the best fighter? Hatton. Did Mayweather fight him? Not at the time due to showtime/HBO conflicts etc but he fought him eventually (while Hatton was still undefeated) and fucked him up. When Mayweather moved up to 147lbs, who was the undisputed champion? Baldomir. Did Mayweather fight him? Yes. When Mayweather challenged for the 154lbs title, who was the champion? De la hoya. Did Mayweather fight him? Yes. After Floyd returned from hiatus # 2 and warmed up against top 3 P4Per, Marquez, who was considered the Welterweight champion and baddest man in that division? Mosley. Did Floyd fight him? Yes. So FUCK YOU to all of the Mayweather haters!!
Sly, Mayweather is losing support. For me, I don't care, I never rode his nuts or praised him to all hell, but even I can see he is depreciating in the eyes of most people. Pac is a conniving twat but Floyd needs to fight more often.
I agree completely. He's losing my support too to be honest. I just like to remind people here who seem to have forgotten, that Floyd has fought the best in his career. He's just an inactive refuse to fight pacquiao motherfucker over the last few years...
Baldomir was far from undisputed, he was lineal. De la Hoya was not the champion at 154, he was a titleist. The best at 140 when mayweather moved up was Kostya Tszyu, followed the following year by Ricky Hatton, neither of whom he fought at that weight.
It's true though. All you can ask of a challenger is to fight the defending Champ. Baldy was the champ. Should Louis be penalized for geeting the title from Braddock?
Baldomir was BOTH lineal and undisputed. Y'all must've forgot! :hammert: Tszyu had already signed to fight Hatton and was on showtime. Hatton got fucked up by Mayweather while he was STILL the 140lb champion. 7 pounds extra is immaterial considering that Floyd was a former 130lb champion to Hatton being a career 140lb fighter.
"Dangerous?!" LOL. All of the guys Pacquiao fought were either terrible or had taken career-altering beatings before he fought them. I can't believe you seriously tried to use Clottey as an example of a dangerous fighter.
Why didn't Mayweather fight Margarito, Cotto, or Williams during his reign at Welter? 2006-2009....How can you possibly avoid/duck the TOP Welters since Forrest, Mayorga, Spinks,etc..in the early 2000's..
