Another Factor is Marquez's AGE, Doub...What is he, 35-36???...Even Technically Profficient Fighters Become MORE Hittable as they Age...Marquez is NO Exception... "Save for the 1st Round", where Marquez was DROPPED 3 Times & Had his Nose Broken, U Think his Defense was Alright Against Pac???::...He was Dropped AGAIN & Took his Fair Share N the RE as Well (Even Though REED had Marquez Winning that 1)... Compare How Much Diaz Hit Marquez to How Much Diaz Hit Nate Campbell???...Diaz Had MORE Moments Against Marquez & That was in 3 FEWER Rounds... REED CANNOT See Marquez "OutBoxing" Floyd from the Perimeter...w/Floyd's SIZE Advantage & EXCELLENT Jab, Marquez CANNOT Come Out "Defensive" & Expect to Win...He's Gonna have to RISK Something to WIN this Fight... REED:hammert:
In Addition to Having MORE Pop than Diaz, Floyd will Catch Marquez w/More Shots that he DOESN'T SEE Coming...Diaz has DECENT Handspeed, but his Delivery is PREDICTABLE...Floyd's Gonna Show Marquez a VARIETY of Shots... REED:mj:
How Many Times Did Diaz "Stumble" Nate Campbell???...Or Malignaggi for that Matter???... Manny Pac's Approach Against Marquez was ALOT More BASIC than Floyd's will B...Particularly in the 1st Fight, ALL Pac Did was Throw Southpaw Jabs & Left Crosses...It Took Marquez a Whole ROUND to Figure that Out & OFFSET It...No, Floyd DOESN'T Have Pac's 1 Shot Power, but the Thing is, He's Gonna Hit Marquez MORE than Pac EVER Did... Corley's a SOUTHPAW who Caught Floyd in his 1st Fight @ 140...WHAT Does that have to Do w/Marquez Moving Up TWO Weight Classes to Face Floyd???...Judah Punches HARDER than Marquez Does...Maybe Not in a Lb for Lb Sense, but CLEARLY, Judah is a MORE PROVEN Puncher @ 140-147 than Marquez is... It Seems like U're Trying to Convince YOURSELF that Marquez Can Win, Moreso than Actually BELIEVING he Can Win... REED:kidcool:
JMM's age has definitely become a factor in his style and his getting hit more. I agree. But honestly, I don't see how you can't be impressed with JMM's defense in the first Pacquiao fight. Yes he got dropped three times. But it was against Pacquiao!!! Just consider Pacquiao's ability to land cleanly on Hatton and ODH compared to PBF's. Also, I'm not so sure JMM can't have success countering the counter. Unlike a lot of fighters, JMM is able to throw and land punches when his opponent is throwing at him. It's concentration. He could get hurt this way, but like you said, he has to take chances.
Pacquiao is a MUCH More DIVERSE Fighter TODAY than he was in the 1st Marquez Fight...The Pac that WAXED Dela & Hatton ISN'T the Same Southpaw 1-2 Guy that Faced Marquez in the 1st Bout... REED:hammert:
Pacquiao's definitely improved since his fights with Marquez. But I still don't agree that PBF will necessarily be able to land more against JMM than Pacquiao did. Pacquiao's a south-paw, don't forget. And he has faster hands than PBF, especially at 126.
Not to mention...Floyd at 130 and even 135 was a DAMN good puncher. Marquez is less than 10 months removed from being a 135 pounder...that makes Floyd the puncher here. At some point JMM will get clipped harder than he's ever been and it'll be lights out.
:: You guys swear like PBF throws as much as diaz... He hit Marquez cuz he stood right in fron of him and traded, cuz Marquez didn't believe Juan had the power to KO him, and he didn't, he would have a different game plan against PBF and not just stand in front of him, and I very well doubt PBF is throwin more than 50 punches a round let alone 100 like Juan does, u do realise the difference right?
Floyd is going to tag JMM with shots he doesn't see coming. He's the most accurate puncher in the game, how many punches he throws isn't going to matter. It's when and how accurate. His timing and accuarcy is what is going to get him the KO.
No I believe he can win, but there is nothing I can say that will convince you, cuz you think Floyd is the best and blah blah blah, the fact that you think Floyd will hit JMM more than Pacman did is just ridiculous even when Floyd is on point and doesn't throw alot of punches and lets be assured he isn't goin against Gatti here, he is going against the smartest fighter he has ever faced in his whole career again, all he has over JMM is speed and weight, nothing else.
Actually I htink JMM is the most accurate that there is right now, plus when has PBF ever faced a fighter that threw the type of combinations that JMM can throw? To the body and head, PBF is gonna get hit more than he has been hit before, we will see how he takes it as we have never seen him in this position before.
YOUTH, JAB, POWER, STRENGTH, HANDSPEED, MOBILITY???:dunno:... By the END Of the Fight, U'll B Here Saying, "I KNEW Floyd would Win All Along, I just Got Caught Up in JM Marquez Fandom"... REED:mj:
No We will see about the power, we don't kow that yet, as Marquez went up in weight he did KO two guys that never were KO'd before so we can't say that, maybe he carries his power well again this is his first fight here so we can't say that just yet. Jab? Nah not really I don't think Floyd has that great of a jab to be honest with yu, well when he uses it yeah, but he likes to throw lead lefts and rights, work off reflexes and counter, not much of a jab, I give that to JMM. Youth he isn't too much younger but maybe experience in tough fights will help JMM here, unlike PBF who hasn't really been in too much trouble even if in a close fight. Hand speed and mobility is the only things u got on me, I can't deny that.
Marquez has about a 5% chance vs. Mayweather....and if it comes i see it coming from a magic body shot. I don't think Marquez has the punching power, combinations, accuracy to ko Mayweather with punches to the head...the way he was working the body during 24/7 it seem he wants to take the fight deep....
Hitting Floyd to the Body is TOUGHER than it Seems...For 1, his Shoulder Roll Defense BLOCKS the Left Side of his Body & for 2, Floyd is RARELY Stationary OR Laying on the Ropes Loooooooooooong Enough to Absorb a SUSTAINED Body Attack... & to Top it Off, is Marquez WILLING to Leave HIMSELF OPEN to Counters (& Can he TAKE Them), to Invest in Mayweather's Body???... REED:hammert:
Dude, Marquez is Moving Up 2 Weight Classes...He DOESN'T Punch as Hard as Floyd Does @ 147...Marquez's Body has LACKED the Definition that we're Accustomed to, @ the Higher Weight...He's NOT the Same Guy, in Other Words...KO'ing a GERIATRIC Casamayor who was BOUNCED Off the Canvas by Katsidis ISN'T Necessarily an Indicator of Power & Even if it Is, that was 2 Weight Classes LOWER than where this Fight is Taking Place.... Floyd Mayweather has an EXCELLENT Jab, which he Uses to the Head AND Body...If this Fight Becomes a JABBING Contest, Marquez is TOAST.... Floyd is YOUNGER & Has LESS Wear & Tear from his Actual Fights AND the 2 Year Layoff...He's FRESHER than Marquez... Put it This Way, if Marquez BEATS Floyd, it'll B 1 of the 5-10 Greatest SINGULAR Accomplishments in the HISTORY of Boxing... REED:hammert:
I was with you right up to this. It would be a substantial upset and nothing more. Marquez has already fought a top p4p guy very closely. Marquez is considered a top 5 p4p guy by most.
UNTIL Floyd Mayweather Retired, there was NOfuckingARGUMENT as to Who the BEST Fighter of this Era (& Current Best Lb for Lb) was... Marquez has Already Fought a Top p4p Guy @ his OPTIMAL Weight...NOW he's Facing an All Time Great 2 Divisions HIGHER than he's EVER Fought...That CAN'T B Underestimated Here:nono:... Beating Floyd would TRUMP the COMBINATION of Pac's Wins Over Hatton AND Dela, which is Precisely WHY Marquez is Taking the Risk... REED:hammert:
I'm a Marquez fan, but I just see NO CHANCE at all for him to win this fight. Even if Money May is rusty, he's still too big, too strong, too fast, and too skilled for Marquez to handle. I just hope that Marquez, for his pride, doesn't take too bad of a beating but he will. Mayweather will want to make a statement here to get a showdown with Pacquiao and knowing that this guy gave Pacquiao his 2 toughest fights and arguably beat him both times, he's not going to lay back too long. Mayweather KO 7. It will be brutal and ugly.
I agree Floyds jab is good when he uses it, but how often does that happen? And again you cant say anything about Marquez's power until we see him at this weight, he did well at moving up in weight every single time and has carried his power through out his whole career. I think you are thinking too much about how Marquez fights in his last fight rather than how he has fought in his whole career, the man is smart, can adapt, and has great defense when he chooses, and one hell of a counter puncher, combinations will be key here, Marquez will unlesh 3-5 punch combos, that Mayweather won't be able to defend against.
I think u hit the nail on the head that will be PBF's downfall, he wants to come at JMM to make a statement, KO a guy that hasn't been KO'd stop the man that Pacman couldn't stop, that will play right into what Marquez wants and give away Mayweather's best asset.
Marquez is a truely unique fighter. I just rewatched the Diaz fight and after the initial Diaz onslaught Marquez adapted and literaly slipped Diaz's punches for the rest of the night. Fantastic fighter. It will be facinating to see him try to unravel Floyd's style. I can't wait for this fight.
Pac couldn't stop him because he was too predictable and although Marquez kept getting hit he saw the punches coming after a while and braced for them. A punch he doesn't see coming like the one Barrera of Norwood landed is what will perhaps do him in.
