There isn't anyone near Duran's level in the game for the last 15 years and there probably never will be (in the eyes of the elitists).

But Corrales and Castillo were the best available opposition at their respective weight classes at the time Floyd signed to fight them.

When has Floyd shown a lack of toughness? Being a fighter that has the skills to move and evade punches for 12 rounds if he chooses doesn't automatically disqualify him from toughness. I'm talking about in the ring toughness not negotiation table stuff.

btw..I'm sure if Duran was getting purses of $20M a fight, he'd have been less active as well. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...there's a reason why Leonard only has 30 fights or so in an era when people had 50+.

    I didn't say Floyd wasn't tough.....but he isn't tougher than Duran....

Leonard only has 30 something fights...he was a big start of his time...just like Mayweather...but unlike Jr', Leonard fought the greatest fighters of his generation......while Mayweather is ducking his Thomas Hearns(Manny Pac)...

Mayweather's Thomas Hearns was Diego Corrales when they were both primes and undefeated. Manny Pac to Floyd is just icing on the cake.

Because there are only 3 fighters in the sport really worth watching and one of them just fought.

Only a terrible comparison if I'm comparing Corrales directly to Thomas Hearns in isolation. OBVIOUSLY you, being a smart boy, know that I'm not doing that. The CONTEXT of this point is whether Floyd manned up to fight the fellow rival champion in his division when both were in their primes...the way Leonard di with Hearns. the answer is YES...Diego Corrales.

Of course you realize that by groupie definition..you are also a groupie..a Duran groupie.

So my question is: why would you want to set yourself on fire? :scratcher:

    irrelevant.

I could say that Jake Lamotta took on Ray Robinson whereas Hagler took on Hearns as his best opponent. Robinson was more formidable than Hearns.

I could then say...like an ass, "Well Lamotta had more balls than Hagler because he fought Ray Robinson whereas Hagler only fought Hearns".

    See how stupid this is?

I'm not saying Leonard had "more balls" ... I'm saying Corrales isn't good enough to be Mayweather's Hearns

Dude.....when Floyd was in his prime at 130lbs, who was generally considered his most formidable opponent? Casamayor? Frietas? There was a great deal of noise surrounding Corrales who was himself undefeated and who had recently bombed out Manfredy in impressive fashion. In fact I seem to remember that mayweather was only a slight favourite going into that one.

Now that Wlad is in his prime who is considered his most formidable opponent? See - Alsander Povetkin = Tommy Hearns! It'll be the exact same thing, really.

But Wlad would still be an overwhelming favourite as no one is seen as anywhere near his equal. That's different.

Corrales was virtually even money with Floyd at the time of that fight...due to Floyd's tough fight with Burton and Corrales' known punching power and size.

Floyd and Corrales were both rising stars and seen as the top 2 dogs in that division (with Casa and Ace close behind). It's indeed a leonard-hearns scenario.

So please shove povetkin back up your scottish ass!!
