Ok let me ask this then..... What indications are there that Cotto wants to fight Mayweather?

Cause believe me if I am Cotto and think I can take Mayweather I am doing a Bernard Hopkins and saying I will not let any "black man" beat me!  or anything else to make Floyd say "Lets do this fight!"

:nono: Cotto NEVER calls out any opponents..shit they asking him who he thought would win the fight hat vs. may? I don't have a prediction...who do you prefer to fight? I let my team deal with that....:dunno:

Indications that Cotto might want to fight Mayweather?..I don't know he was in the arena last night....but maybe he was praying for Hatton to win...? :dunno:

    but don't matter...Mayweather is retired again...

24/7 "I have money, so i most be doing this cause i love it"

last night: "I don't love boxing"

    Floyd please fight Cotto!

This is the only fight left for Floyd and if he beats Cotto and retires, he will go down as one of the top 5 fighters in history IMO.

No chance of Floyd ever being a top 5 fighter. Top 20 maybe. Of all American fighters under 154. In the last 20 years.

See, this brings up a big question though...what COULD Mayweather (or ANYONE, for that matter) have done to earn that sort of distinction?

My answer is, at least based on the things I've heard throughout my relatively short life, NOTHING, simply because it's the modern era.

I don't think that's the way things should be considered, but I have yet to be shown otherwise.

    You don't believe that.

Inside, I bet you're damn glad Cotto's people ducked the fight years ago.

It's ok, Cotto is really good. I hope he has a nice career. :cheer:

Ohh years ago..at 140 Cotto wasn't ready..and would've lose to Mayweather..no doubt...but NOW at 147 where Cotto doesn't have to kill himself to make weight..he would fuck Mayweather up...and Pretty boy knows it...

He better retire.....or not fight in 08-09...:nono:

    I saw Cotto last night. He had that expression on his face. You know that "Yeah, and so fucking what" expression. Coolest dude in the joint. {but his tailor has an awful sense of humour}

    From fightnews:

    Cotto on Mayweather-Hatton!
By David Robinett / Photo: Chris Farina -- Top Rank
    [IMG]
"I don't have any prediction," said WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto today at Wolfgang Puck's Restaurant in Las Vegas. "I just want to see what Hatton and Mayweather bring tonight." As to his preference to meet in the ring. "I never choose my opponent. I leave that up to Bob [Arum]. I trust Top Rank to do what's best for my career. If I fight Mayweather or Hatton, I'm going to prepare for each one. The way I'll fight depends on the opponent." Cotto also presented a cake to Arum who is celebrating his 76th birthday

Honestly, you'd think Cotto could manage an opinion beyond the "I'll fight whomever uncle bob etc." rubbish at this stage in his career :nono:

Floyd needs to fight Cotto or Williams before he retires.

Cotto would meet the same fate as Hatton anyway.

i agree that Cotto is the guy Floyd needs to fight if there's to ever be any substance to his stay at 147

Cotto is a more acomplished welter than Floyd and is the man to beat

to follow his rapping career into the ground...and develop his boxing stable...and promote his own fights....

....or by becoming the first black owner of a multi-billion gambling empire. He actually said that. I wrote to him and told him that as dumb as bigdawg is, he doesn't have that much money and neither do his dumbass friends.

    Too bad.

    I'm interested in that development.

The only win I could see pointing to this was his win over Mosley? Is that what everyone is basing this on?

It certainly had nothing to do with the Judah fight, right?

    combination of both...IMO...the Quintana+Judah+Mosley victories..

    at 147 Mayweather fought..Mitchell+Judah+Bumdomir victories..

i give it to Cotto just by a bit...Mayweather victory over bumdomir was important cause he became linear champion...but the guy is a fucking BUM!!!

I agree completely. Its impossible. Its pretty much assured Sugar Ray Robinson is going to be thought of as the greatest of all time and the top 5 is pretty much set. I don't really agree with it either but at the same time its like that in a lot of sports.

Its like in the NBA you have Wilt, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem as top 5 ever. Future players are going to have to do A LOT to even be considered in that group.

Floyd would beat cotto, but he is having physical problems (back muscle and hands). Why should he bother.

I suppose Hatton was only a light welter a strong one at that but I don't think Cotto would give Floyd any trouble sure he is so good on the inside with his fore arms and elbows, and Joe Cortez (who probably wants lots of fights when Mayweather is promonting) will not warn Floyd when he drops his head or turns his back

I also think it's a given that Floyd beats Cotto. I also think Floyd needs to take his break from fighting then come back, beat Cotto and then he can retire without any questions asked.

I'd still love to see him fight Shane, but what's the point now?

This is typical Cotto talk, dude has to be the worst interview in every major sport there is. He has absolutely--or will give absolutely--no opinion whatsoever. Ask him if he thinks he'll beat a fighter and he'll say something like, I don't know, I'm going to just do my best.

If a fighter's personality meant a lot to me, I'd probably be a Cotto hater.
