Paul Williams is like...the new internet boxing forum superstar. This guy beats them all on the net. What a fighter!

I'm not saying that he has to fight Williams, just that it's illogical to fight Margarito or Cintron, and not fight Williams. Don't you agree?

Oh, WBO.....since when does it count? Did he beat anyone half-decent to claim that WBOgus trinklet?

I said he's a titlist, not a champion at welterweight. WBO belt is a title, the last time I checked.

And no matter what you think of him, Antonio Margarito is half-decent, at the very least. He's certainly better than the punching bag known as Carlos Baldomir. So should Mayweather get no credit as the linear WW champion, just because he didn't beat a great fighter for the title?

Williams is the only one I'd not want Floyd to fight..

that said.. I'd pick Floyd still.. but I'd be nervous.

I don't buy too much that it's cuz he's a south paw.. but he punches a lot and he is TALL.. I just think Style wise south paw or not Williams is a tough fight

Paul would kill the bastard! Nothing pot shotting little Pretty Boy could do. Too tall, too busy. Floyd is used to fighting guys his own size or slightly bigger guys who are too old or have no stamina. He don't want no big man who can throw that many punches.

So is WBU. It's a belt.
So is GBU. It's a belt.
So is IBC. It's a belt.
So is WWB. It's a belt.
If PBF had to fight every one of these bogus "titlists", he wouldn't have time to beat up real champs.

Based on what is that assumption made?

Not when you compare their resumes and accomplishments.

Mayweather should get all the credit in the world as linear WW champ....
    does anyone even argue that?
Had he defeated some IBC or WBO titlist, he shouldn't've even be called a "chump", let alone "champ".
But since he shut out undisputed, true, linear weltwerweight champion, he deserves all the credit.

Apparently if one were to confer with God, thy grand architect of all, to build the ultimate boxing machine, it would look like a stick bug, throw punches continually, and have long arms. Frankly not to critiscize God's work but while he was at it would it have been so difficult to give Williams a third arm coming out of his rib cage?

I still pick Floyd.. but this is the only fight I'd have concerns about

I was not worried about Hatton.. and I'm not worried about Cotto...

to say he shoudl fight Pavlik is just retarded..

Nobody is claiming Williams cleans out the division, just that he is indeed a top contender and a legit threat to the Champion Floyd.

Fuck it, Floyd should just retire if nobody is good enough to share the ring with his greatness.

I've always felt that Williams is a style nightmare for Mayweather.

I don't think Mayweather or the other big names will be too keen on fighting Williams, unless he is able to become a bigger name. Too much risk for too little reward.

Southpaws are stylistic nightmares to begin with....let alone tall volume punching ones.

Still...Williams has very limited power....so no threat of Floyd getting KOed. Floyd still has the faster hands, the better defense. Will judges score volumne over precision? I don't think so.

Floyd still wins....but it's a nasty styles matchup for him.

    Ghoster, seriously.

"All the belts at one time"? Are you 10? Do you not know why Roy gets shit on? Do you not know what 'all' means? Do you not know what 'the belt that mattered most in that weight class' means?

Who has Floyd avoided that is a southpaw? Casamayor? Wow. That's convincing. He's also avoided Brazilians--Freitas.

Fought guys 4 inches taller? Yee haw. Corrales and N'dou sky over Floyd, but they have one thing over Roy's taller comp except Tarver...they actually are really good fighters.

And where exactly has this 'Floyd is avoiding Williams' bullshit been all along? Floyd hasn't been ducking shit this past year. He fought a 154 lb de la hoya and a Hatton that most everyone would rather he fight than Williams. Williams has ALWAYS been an after-thought. He still is. Cotto is in the front of the line.

Do I think Floyd should fight Williams? Shit yeah. But is he ducking him? Of course not. He frickin just fought a week ago.

Will Floyd duck Williams? We'll see. But to act like he has or is ducking him is pretty myopic.

I think he has good power, and his ko % is good. But I don't see him knocking Mayweather out. If he wins, it would be on points. But I would still pick Mayweather.

    Thank you.

As a huge Williams fan, easily my favorite fighter right now, I definitely want that fight to happen.

I won't be upset ONE BIT if that fight doesn't happen, because there is NO reason for the fight to happen right now.

Cotto has done more at the contender level.
Cotto has a fanbase that has proven it is willing to buy his matches to a certain degree.

MAYWEATHER JUST FOUGHT A FIGHTER WITHIN ONE DIVISION WHO IS ON MOST P4P LISTS.

For crying out loud, if a fighter is going to be accused of avoiding fighters within the two weeks that he's fought, then I'd have Mayweather Jr's attitude too. We the fans are allegedly telling him that it's "better" if he does what we want. Yet HE'S the one who's making millions of dollars. I don't care how much you guys talk about legacy and such, but I doubt people think "I need to secure my legacy at my job" when they win the lottery (which he certainly did this year).

I had no idea that people who aren't even fans of a fighter could be bigger advocates than major fans themselves. I guess I should say thanks :dunno:

Williams don't bring the money Money May would want for fighting. Same reason Pac aint fighting Guzman or Valero.

i too think this is Mayweather's toughest fight at 147....however we have less answers about Williams than the other contenders at the weight....we've only seen him in the one big fight

for the time being, Mayweather can avoid him without causing too much fuss...Williams is perhaps one or two big wins away from making this fight a desirable one for the fans, HBO and most importantly Floyd himself

Hatton is neither 'my boy' (I presume this is who you are referring to) and he will NOT be fighter Williams or any other 147lb fighter. He will go back to his natural weight and clean up again. Or hug and cheat and whatever utter, utter bullshit you imagine he does. Like hugging Tzsyu to retirement. Or hugging Castillo to the same.... :dunno:
