Slowly, very slowly, back away from the BoxRec. Tillis and Thomas were once good fighters, but at the time they faced Morrison, they were nothing more than resume padding names.

And like Jake said, Ruddock was also done at the time he faced Morrison and Tommy barely got past him.

Tommy teed off on Ray Mercer and beat the crap out of him for a few rounds. Mercer was no slouch. Moorer doesn't survive the initial storm, imo. His chin at HW sucked, and if an old ass Foreman can tag it, so can the Duke.

How did that fight turn out for Morrison?

yeah, but for every Mercer fight reference, I find myself thinking of the Bentt-Morrison fight as well.

  5. Quietly and calmly, breathe in and close your eyes and just pretend for a second that I picked Moorer instead of Morrison. Let's say I picked Moorer definitively.

If you successfully complete this little exercise you will find that you would change your pick and choose Morrison and then say that I'm shilling for my favourites again, this time with the agenda of making Moorer look great so that Foreman looks great which makes Ali look like the GOAT. :giggle:

Already addressed. The better question is, how does that fight turn out for Moorer?

Holyfield kicked Mercer's ass and dropped him between the Moorer and Bowe fights, where he supposedly had health issues.

    Moorer > Mercer.

I am sometimes in awe of the foolishness you are willing to type just to have something to say.

Trying place any significance on Morrison-Thomas and Morrison-Tillis is just plain silly.

    As you were...

    I agree whole heartedly

Sly seems to be forgetting that Moorer boxed Holyfeield thus limiting the effectiveness of his main tatctic -- counterpunching

Morrison provides no such dilemma for Holyfield

    No way

its two totally different types of fighter

Morrison would not fight Holy the way MM did

he'd be aggressive and that is what Holyfield liked, and he'd get stopped

  11. true, but Morrison provides a different dilemma that Morrer didn't:

Heavyweight size and strength, more power, more speed in his combos.

Having said all of that...with Morrison's chin you never know.

With Moorer's chin, you usually know.

Moorer was knocked out when he was still a prime or close to prime fighter by Foreman and Holyfield

Morrison was annihlated in a round by Michael Bentt and nearly decapitated in the 5th by Ray Mercer

I fail to see how Morrison's chin isn't a factor here every bit as much as Moorer's

Not to mention that Morrison's power was never a factor in any fight he ever had against a ranked heavyweight.

agREED. I don't see how Moorer's chin is more of a liability than Morrsion's.

Morrison too often leaves himself unprotected. Once hurt, Moorer would all over him like a virus. Tommy is down for the full (T-cell) count.
