who knows, if you ask manny he is, he blames every lost on his shoulder, did you see the shot mosely took? cotto isnt nearly the boxer vernon is to land a shot like that to the jaw, which mosley survived, who knows like i said to sly, is it the style of fight which makes you think a tko is possible, if so i respect that, but i still dont see it happening

INCLUDING his Ammy Career, the ONLY Time Shane Mosley has EVER Been Dropped was the 1st Pro Fight w/Forrest...

The Dude has an INCREDIBLE Chin...That Uppercut that Forrest Clocked him w/Would have FINISHED 95% of Most Fighters...

While Cotto IS a CONSISTENT Puncher,he's NOT the Type of Banger that's Gonna STOP a Guy w/a GREAT Chin N REED's Opinion...

w/out Question,Miguel Cotto CAN WIN this Fight, but the LEAST Likely Scenario is a KO,N REED's Opinion...

I want to see how Cotto reacts to Mosleys body shots. I remember Quintana hurt Cotto several times to the body! Has Mosley ever fought a fighter with Cotto's body attack?

Cotto is just not a likeable guy to me. He's also been praised for his career thus far, something that's been carefully guided.

again, this is a more winnable fight for cotto taking on an aged fighter who was once elite. yea, i'll give him credit if he wins, but i certainly would not elevate his status as a top fighter.

i'd much rather see him take on more dangerous tasks against the likes of margarito, williams, or even cintron.

lol for real i thought the same thing...

I'm the biggest Shane fan in the world, but BOY does he suck...

As for the fight: Mosley might catch him and finish him off or outpoint him while trying to stay away with him - but anybody who says he wears him down to stop him late is retarded. That's Cotto's game. If there is an endurance war and someone has an advantage late due to better conditioning, that will be Cotto.

None of the guys you mentioned are as proven as Mosley. How are they more dangerous fights? I'd favor Mosley against all of them.

This fight reminds me of another one, but I just can't recall it at the moment.

It was about a proven champion, still very good but on a slight downside of his career against a relatively unproven but highly talented young fighter.

The latter stopped him brutally and unexpectedly.

    Pacquiao vs Barrera maybe?
    Tyson vs Spinks?
    Ali vs Liston?

I'm not sure....but I've seen this before and the result is always the same. That's why I'm picking Cotto to not only win, but stop him.

Accoridng to BS-Talk.com Cotto took a 40/60 split. What does that tell you? They know Cotto will win and it´s worth to take the short money. :stir:

no. it tells you that Mosley is the bigger star at this point, and Cotto and his people know it.

if they made a match-up with ODH, or even PBF, they'd make the same concession.

BS. Cotto is the bigger star. Cotto is selling out The Garden, Mosley was in The Theater with Forrest.

Pay Sly no mind when it comes to Shane. He once said that Mamadou Thiam would beat Shane.

Aint no way in hell Cotto is stopping Mosley! He was BARELY able to stop Zab's fragile ass.

    Mosley by UD.

Agreed, but I got Mosley stopping Cotto. I don't get where people think Mosley is shot. He may not be in his prime but he is not shot. He easily beat Collazo who just beat up a "prime" Hatton. Everyone is all high on Hatton but hates on Mosley.

Yeah, he easily beat an injured Luis Collazo. In the round prior to hurting his hand, Collazo was making Shane look silly, snapping his head back with straight lefts and right hooks, and clowning him to boot. In between rounds, Shane had that same discouraged look he had against Winky and Forrest. Unlike most, I wasn't impressed with Shane in that fight. He had a fighter right there for the taking, and never had him in any serious trouble. When Ricky Hatton damn near ran Collazo out of the ring in the first two rounds.

Mosley by decision. Mosley has to much experience. He's fought better guys, bigger guys, and Cotto hasn't. This is one of those fights were experience will work in Mosley's advantage. I didn't even name all the physical advatages he has on Cotto.

Big deal Cotto is the major star. It has nothing to do with Cotto and everything to do with his heritage and the fact that he's from puerto rico. If Mosley was from pr, he'd have been a star too.

Notice some of the most talented fighters were black americans and had trouble getting fans from day one unlike a guy like Cotto. All he needed was a little success and from day one everyone on the island and every other PR up in NY and other states hopped on the bandwagon.

I really struggle to see why you could see Cotto stopping one of the most durable fighters in the sport. I could see if Shane was fighting someone with Tito like power, but Cotto has never demonstrated the kind of one punch power Tito has. Cotto hits hard, but it takes him a few rds to really wear a guy down. I don't see Cotto stopping Shane at all.

Yeah, and Mosley was easily winning his fight w/Forrest until he got headbutted and had his rythm thrown off which Forrest immediately capitalized on by landing a straight right once the fight resumed that sent Shane to the ropes and led to the uppercut that basically put him out of the fight. You see how this works Antwuan? To can play that game. By the way, Cotto doesn't have near the footspeed/handspeed or boxing ability that Collazo does so that probably means Cotto won't be nearly as good at surviving and gets stopped.

If Shane loses it'll be the first time he loses to a hispanic and the first time he loses to a pressuring brawler.

Yeah, then Hatton went on to lose most of the remaining rounds while coming within a hair of getting stopped. Collazo didn't win but a round or two against shane and never came close to hurting him.

    I'm a Mosley fan.

I don't always pick guys I like to win because I try to pick objectively; BUT I picked him to beat Vargas both times, and I picked him to beat Collazo.

That being said, once again people are vastly underrating Cotto's performances and abilities - especially at 147 lbs.; where he is stronger, sturdier, shows a higher workrate and better stamina.

He dominates a sharp/focused Judah (finding him relatively easily); batters Malignaggi (that was easily an 8-4 or better win for Cotto); batters Quintana; consistently beats fighters with faster hands & feet than him even when he is fighting recklessly and with abandon (he has since stopped doing that, but anyway)...

And people still want to characterize him as a guy who will just plod forward, have trouble with any kind of speed; and let Mosley tee off on him at will.

Remember what Collazo was able to do early against Mosley by just coming forward and occasionally picking his spots and letting his hands go; remember what Vargas was able to do vs. Mosley in their first fight by doing exactly the same thing (with no jab); remember what slooow Cruz was able to do in alot of spots...

And Mosley, to beat Collazo, had to be on his toes, constantly moving and firing light combinations and flicking a jab....and tying up in the later rounds.

Shane isn't sitting down on his punches like he used to - because he can't/doesn't want to take that risk. He also needs to fight in bunches, and he's vulnerable to tight punching, a jab, and quick shots inside/down the middle.

Despite his strength, he can be pushed back and muscled because he doesn't like to fight on the inside or engage in trench/mauling warfare...and he stops fighting when it happens.

I think this is a great fight, and Mosley certainly has a big chance to win it.

He is NOT shot by any means, and is still a great fighter and must be considered a top welter.

But to easily pick it for Shane while characterizing Cotto per the above is a mistake, IMHO.

Mosley will not dance circles around Cotto...and Cotto will have ALOT of chances, especially as the fight wears on.

Mosley's best chance is to commit to the body early and often...but that carries alot of risk.

Remember DLH's body shots (esp. the left hook) on Shane and the effect they had...and Shane's vulnerability to the short straight right.

I think this is a fascinating fight.

    My early prediction? Cotto.

    Peace.
