Some match this is. Wonder who would win between a fighter jet and a vulture.

You implying the outcome seriously hinges on that?

End result is the same but you might want to read the thread again.

Sincerely, how is that? I don't appear to see anything more than this being Michael Moorer vs. Marvis Frazier...?

    Cdogg would beat Marvis Frazier.

Marvis Frazier would have been a very solid fighter sub-200 pounds... he just wasn't a heavyweight, he didn't belong there

But he was not this tomato can he is often portrayed as... he had some decent skills, just wasn't meant to be in there with big guys... he would have made a fine cruiserweight

Couple that with the fact that Moorer wasn't the superhero he's constantly portrayed as sub-heavyweight and I'd say it's a fairly intriguing matchup

Marvis Frazier was like his dad but without the power, the toughness, the heart. You take power, toughness and heart from Joe Frazier and you're left with NOTHING.

Spoken like someone who only parrots the party line (or has only watched the Holmes and Tyson fights) about Marvis rather than actually having a handle on his career.

Frazier was a pretty good fighter and his career proves so. He was undersized for the heavies and probably should have moved down to Cruiser after the Holmes fight, but he still had some solid wins at heavy.

Not really, his style was a bit different from Dad's

he also had some nice wins on his resume for a guy whose supposed to be horrible... TIllis, Bonecrusher Smith... he just did not belong at heavyweight, he didn't have enough power or durability at that weight

I think he would made a pretty fair cruiserweight... Is it not conceivable that he could beat Carlos DeLeon for a title there??? I'd say he would have had a pretty good chance there

Moorer is not Mike Tyson or Larry Holmes

At heavyweight, I think you would have to pick Moorer

but Marvis could have been a much better fighter at a lower weight (sort of like Floyd Patterson, though obviously not THAT good) so yeah, it makes a difference

Perhaps. but Moorer was a formidable LHWT from from we could see....although largely unproven as he never fought the Virgil Hills and the Prince Charles Williams of the world. At Cruiser or LHWT you still have to make Moorer favourite IMO.

Naturally the Cdogg thing was a joke. The Holmes and Tyson fights were enough for me. I had seen him beat Joe Bugner before Holmes and thought he had some promise, but as it turns out he was just an illusion.

Moorer beats him up badly as does any half way decent heavyweigth titlist in recent history.

As I suspected. I know you are not fond of reassessing fighters once you have labeled them, but a good look at Frazier's career might make you think differently about him. I have that perspective because I watched many of his fights while he was active.

AND...Marvis did not lack heart and determination. He was dropped and hurt by Bonecrusher Smith and looked to be out of his feet against Quick Tillis and not only did not get stopped, but rallied back to win both fights. Marvis lacked the chin and power to compete at heavy using the style his Dad molded him into (he was much more of a boxer in the amateurs), but his courage and determination were there to be seen.

I dont disagree with making Moorer a favorite at all

I just disagree with Moorer automatically winning by first round stoppage, as if he ever did that to anybody worth a dman in his whole life
