Calzaghe/Lacy, good one slice. Lacy was so cocky up to that fight, promising a KO, then gets a boxing lesson.

If Groves had let his hands go, he would have got KTFO.

dude...Boxing Monthly did an article after that fight about fighters who wouldn't let their hands go, and he was one of them. Not that that makes it gospel of course, but if Chunky had just moved his hands in he last 2 rounds they would have won.

PS if you or Slice have any old BM magazines you don't want, I will pay you half of what you paid for them.

The thing is, Groves fought at his maximum, Chunky was way below par, and there was a point in it. Trust me Georgie boy don't want no rematch.

Irish, I have a fair few old BMs at my folks house, next time I'm round there I'll let you know what I have.

Because I think his whole gameplan was built on Groves coming to bomb him out, he wasn't prepared at all for Groves running tactics. Which says more to me about McDonnell than anything, but he admitted as much that he hadn't been preparing to chase Groves down. The thing is as well, he nearly had GG out of there in the 9th and then for some inexplicable reason just stopped doing it and lost momentum. Chunky lost that fight more than Groves won it IMO. He can improve alot on his performance where as I don't think Georgie boy can fight any better than that, that's his max.

So he was out-thought and shown to have an inability to adapt to different tactics? That isn't 'below-par' mate: it means he is limited.

He did adapt to it and he hurt Groves, and then for some inexplicable reason backed off again. Groves didn't change anything, DeGale just...stopped

Again though mate, that points to his inflexibility and his limitedness (that isn't a word, I know :lol) rather than an off-colour chowing.

How? He DID adapt, it was working, Groves didn't "re-adapt" or change anything up, DeGale just stopped doing it. Dumb as fuck maybe but didn't show him as limited.

Regardless, I still thought he won the fight, as do many others

His adaption was to plod forward and throw no punches. That isn't very good IMO. And he legitimately lost that fight and I mean that literally- at the time I watched it, I honestly thought DeGale LOST the fight as opposed to Groves winning it.

I wouldn't include this one because Joppy ended up saving $50,000 (something like that) by going the distance that Hopkins would have won with a ko.

He got paid before the night was over.

Also, Kauki's example of Hopkins/Taylor is the worst in this thread.. How exactly do those fights qualify?

I'm so over the DeGale loss now lol. I know he'll achieve more than Groves.
