I thought that this thread was about whom among the P4P ranked boxers were the most/least aesthetically pleasing to watch. So I was scratching my head whyuy lie John Ruiz, Mayorga and other bums were mentioned.

Anyway from my above premise I never found Pernell Whitaker style pleasant to watch. It was plain boring. Among the most pleasing IMO prime Sugar Ray Leonard and a pre-Rosario Hector El Macho' Camacho were always a marvel to be admired.

Aesthetically, I dislike wasteful fighters. Guys who throw 1000 punches and land maybe 39, becoming more bedraggled and scruffy as the fight goes on, eventually vocalizing their shots as they wear down as the fight goes on.

Good example: Matthew Macklin. Great style, come forward, glory or death.....but he has no variety, does the same thing, round in, round out, no ideas, wide shots.

This still does not clarify anything... One of you says Calzaghe is aesthetically pleasing, the other says he is not

Pretty much. We all know what handspeed is.

    Who is faster...Khan or Judah.

You say Judah, I say Khan.

Therefore, we don't know what speed is, said Clegg

Likewise, I would say aesthetically, Judah is more pleasing as Khan is a button masher.

Again piss poor analogies... In order for it to be a true analogy, one of you would have to say khan or Judah is NOT FAST

    lol. I give up.

If you want to say that Joe Frazier's way of punching and moving is aesthetically pleasing, so be it. To each his own...

    I'm not contradicting you :l3:

I'm objecting to the idea that there's any such thing as a rigid definition of "aesthetically pleasing"

I think one of the things about Oscar was that he looked tense in the ring. I think he kind of was, which played a part in his inconsistent stamina.

After one of his fights, can't remember which one, sometime in the late 90s, maybe Quartey, when he said in the post-fight interview that he was "too tense". He said it with a faggoty lisp that made it less surprising that he went on to become a transvestite whom Tyrone Everett would have loved, and I think that's also part of the style you're talking out.

Plus, his "animal-like" shoulders made him even less relaxed in the ring.

Most= For me it was JCC. You see a guy who isn't chiseled. Doesn't look to have exceptional hand or foot speed. But it always able to land effectively to the body and head. A very balanced attack. His ability to land the lead right over and over always amazed me. And when you watch his fights you see him mixing it up with the opponent and look at the effect his punches have as compared to his opponents on him. That's what I like to see. So I'd say vintage Chavez '85-'91.

Jeff Fenech used to do this thing where he'd square up and throw these arm punches as fast as he could. It was just ugly.

Overall he wasn't that aesthetically unpleasing but that move I described that he'd do just looked ugly and gay.
