In the original terminator film, Reese didn't identify the terminator until it moved on Sarah Connor...simply because there was no Schwartzenneger terminator template. All of the terminators looked unique and were therefore indistinguishable from humans. only Dogs could tell them apart.

But they bring back Arnie...suggesting that there was a template...then they have to create a bigger badder terminator as the bad guy to make it interesting (liquid Metal)...which was a kind that the first flm didn't suggest existed at all.

For purists like myself that really get into these films....that kinda bullshit is intolerable.

I thought it as interesting how Connor came in contact with the first arnold before he was sent out. That alone would change the whole sequence of events.

I looked on IMDB and there's nothing about a new Terminator so I'll defer to you on that one.

One of the original ideas of Salvation was that JC dies and they use the Skynet tech to make Marcus look like John in order to keep the resistance going. This would have made more sense to me and when JC gets injured in this film, it looked like the setup for that. Instead, they perform open heart surgery in a wasteland: :pathetic:. Further, once that happened, Marcus was meant to go nuts and kill them all: machines win. Bale apparently liked that ending the best.

Btw, I may be coming off agressive here but it isn't meant as an attack on you. I was severely disappointed by this film. Not just the story but also the way it was filmed. Why did they try to make it a mystery that Marcus was a machine when the first bit of the film is Marcus being explained as being on death row? That really shouldn't have been shown until after Marcus enters Skynet IMO. Just a bad choice.

JC was not the focus of this film and he should have been. This should have been the film about Connor finally taking on the mantle of leadership and the beginning of the resistance. Instead they jump forward to a completely arbitrary time and focus on a new and ultimately superflurous character. I'll rescind this if they end up doing something else with Marcus but really if he is dead, what purpose did he serve in the grand scheme of things?

Like I said in my original take: If this film didn't have Terminator in the title, I wouldn't be so hard on it but it does so I am. It had alot to live up to and at least as far as I am concerned, came up smaller than mini-me.
