Or you could just watch any number of factual documentaries on the subject without having it dumbed-down with melodramatic hogwash and historical revisionism:dunno:

The film was vintage James Cameron: An absurd screenplay that could have been written by a 5th grader used as an excuse for cutting edge special effects (which are now, ironically, outdated) ... PASS

When Hollywood does history, history is subjected to an outlandish pummeling. Titanic is as good an example as any. It is about as good a film as "Pearl Harbor"

"Pearl Harbor" is not one of the highest grossing films of all-time, Titanic is.

    WHO CARES?

Why is this type of information presented as a defense of a work of art?

Utterly meaningless. Most people are philistines.

I would EXPECT drivel like Titanic to be hugely successful. "OOOOH LOOK AT THE BIG PRETTY SHIP":clapagain:

Katy Perry sells millions of records. Kim Kardashian is the object of obsession and intrigue for millions of imbeciles.

"Titanic" was better then "Pearl Harbor" by a longshot, regardless of what they grossed.

    Pretty much.

Oh, you forgot Cuba Gooding Jr. going from short order chef to crazy bad-ass war hero we never heard of, shooting down half the Japanese Air Force from the deck of a sinking battleship.

If we only had 3 Cuba Goodings, 4 Ben Afflecks and 6 Josh Hartnett's during the War, we would have beat down the Japanese and been back home in Hawaii by the end of '42.

Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time. Titanic is a distant second.

And both of these movies are complete wank, whether they made $50mill or $900 mill at the box-office.

I've watched these movies..I watch so many movies, its not true...but people who actually like them and then claim: "it must be good - it made $x trillion at the box-office" are complete cunts.

    Cunts who need exterminating.

Where do you stand on the subject of people who watch videos of cute kitty cats on the internet? Stoning or Electric Chair?

What about cunts who think Brussel Sprouts are better then Celery? Burn at the stake or Firing squad?

How many offenses can we think of in which the death penalty would be a valid punishment?

    Cdogg probably hates Avatar also.

Maverick non-conformists like him always hate things that are popular. They have to like the "underrated" or virtually unknown stuff just to seem knowledgeable.

and it, too, has a story and script written by an elementary school student

I'd enjoy it more if it were in Cantonese with no subtitles... this way, I could just concentrate on the pretty pictures

Yeah, clearly, since my favorite movie is "The French Connection", a big hit at the box office that won a zillion academy awards

oh, I also love "The Godfather" films

"Maverick non-conformists" is a load of shite... I like films that are actually engrossing, not pretty CGI effects placed over an artless piece of dogshit

Agreed for the most part...it has very little rewatchability UNTIL it hits the iceberg. I always skip to that part. After that though it becomes GREAT...in my humble opinion.
