Wow shocking. At least I made some money. Kessler looks shocked. That fight will be tough on him mentally going into the Froch fight.

I agree, Kessler looked shocked from the early rounds. He probably underestimated Ward a fair bit.

Well I can safely say Ward is a LOT better than I thought, I thought he looked decent, but not capable of giving Kessler a fierce beating.

Even before this fight I would have picked Ward for sure, now I have no doubt Dirrell stands almost no chance.

Kessler better seek out a better coach, as that basic, upright European style has come back to bite him on the arse once again. Nothing dooms a fighters career worse than being GERMAN BASED :crafty: . I never saw why people thought Ward was a dud leading up to this fight, I thought I saw a few things that I knew would trouble Kessler,.. and they sure did,.. what an arse-whipping...

I didn't think he was a dud at all. I knew he was better than Dirrell for example, he looked pretty good.

But I found it hard to pick him, because he was so unproven, and even went the distance with a shop worn Miranda etc.

well I think some questions have been answered about Ward. This fight had nothing to do with Kessler. Who thought that he would be an also-ran in this match-up.

 

Congrats to Ward, easy fight for him. Don't know if it was all Ward, but I thought Kessler looked pretty inneffective.

 

That wasn't posted in your direction, I've listenned to your wise opinions about Kessler ever since you said precisely what would happen in his fight against Calzaghe, but rather there was this typical hyped up consensus about Kessler being a MONSTER, and Ward being a bum on borrowed time who has NO CHANCE,..(Xplosive was part of that crowd ofcourse:crafty:) .......after a while I began to side with REED of all people, in that he was getting a bit overrated.

I got one out of three right in group stage one, Abraham-Taylor. Damn that's bad form. What are your guys picks for stage two?

 

Got to hand it to Ward.

However, Kessler can't have prepared well for this fight. He's usually so accurate, but his timing was SO off. Yes Ward is the quickest, slickest fighter he has ever fought, but he was still leaving openings which Kessler couldn't capitalise. Bernstein said in commentary that Kessler did no southpaw sparring.

Ward's aggressiveness surprised me, and i was impressed. He did a great job of evading the right hand, and surprising Kessler with attacks. He was lucky to get away with so much holding, and he was reckless with the head....the first cut was a standard, accidental headbutt....but the second one, that was worthy of a point deduction....it may or may not have been deliberate, but it was excessively reckless.

But on this, Ward is going to be hard to beat. I think Direll and Taylor could cause problems with their own speed. It'd be funny if Taylor can bounce back from two consecutive KOs, and win a belt.

Kessler needs to get his shit in gear. If he's to fight Dirrell or Ward again, he needs to find speedy, elusive sparring partners. I'd be surprised if he had any for this fight, such was his inaccuracy. He could do with getting hold of Anthony Small's number. Very quick british light middleweight...fights like Ward.

 

And Abraham could go 3-0 in the group stage and still be beltless, if Kessler beats Froch. ::

 

I gotta admit that I didn't make a prediction for this fight. However I've never been sold on Kessler and couldn't understand why so many crowned his ass after a lost. In the words of Denny Green "If you wonna crown their asses then crown em!" Well I guess those that picked Ward were right and all you other cats were WRONG! Hey I'm sporting the Kellermen curse as well. But yeah Kessler try to complain like a bitch but he got his ass handed to him. I'll Holla 5000
