Truth be told .......Munguia struggling with Dennis Whatever was always a bad sign. Canelo of a couple years ago probably stops him outright too. In fact there were strong Hagler Vs Mugabi and McClellan Vs Mugabi- or more appropriately- Tate Vs Kiwanuka and Pazienza Vs Kiwanuka vibes about that stoppage. Canelo absolutely weakened that jaw and that, combined with a bit of overconfidence, did for Munguia. French guy has damaged goods in front of him and picked up a bargain. Is he a player? I suppose so now. Rematch beckons with Munguia getting a decision after some spurious weight-making and contractual shenanigans.
That was pretty much the perfect definition of a lucky punch. French pastry will get a beatdown in a rematch, and thats gotta be it for him
I disagree. If you watch it, the punch looked pretty deliberately placed. Also, the guy got up from a massive knockdown to win that fight so not sure how he is a "French pastry."
Munguia switched off. Had the guy down, backed into the ropes, was bossing it. He didn't take his man seriously. That's how "lucky" Surace got. Munguia won't give him that chance again. Munguia W12 rematch. But the word is out on Moglai Munguia.
But you're suggesting munguia is defensively capable and just got careless. That's not the actual case though. In reality, Munguia always gets hit. Always. So it's not a matter of will he let him or won't he. It's a question of whether or not Surace himself can place another shot as well. Seems unlikely I agree. But it's not like this was some abberration for Munguia. He gets hit clean in every fight he's in. In the past, he's been able to shake it off for the most part. The other possibility is Munguia becomes gunshy and overly cautious. Being that his offense and workrate has always been his key strength, I don't think this will serve him well and he could actually lose by decision if that is his response.
''Canelo ruined Munguia'' is pure lunacy imo Agreed, odds are that Munguia wins a rematch but Munguia is very easy to hit and he s the one who's actually quite lucky to not have suffer a similar ko earlier in his career. He's still a good (if limited) fighter though and could still make some fun fights if he's not shook by the ko loss (which is definitely a concern considering he already hit the Canelo jackpot and is more than set for life financially speaking).
Its.lucky in the sense that if they fought a 100 times, it probably dont happens more than once. I can barely play dart, but once in a while, i hit the bulls eye. Yes, that is where i was aiming, but it still is a lucky shot since i cant reproduce it consistently
