    that's where the work was

This would be like saying Al Pacino is not a distinctively New York person because he went to the place where they make movies 3000 miles to the west of New York

It's the argument of a desperate and severe roaster

The Cars are a bit too corny for my taste, I really don't like "power pop"

The southpaw lead guitarist was a pretty nifty player though

Pacino didn't move to LA til his late 30s, Steely dan forged their smooth groove style surrounded by Palm trees, open roads and CACTUS ya mad bam.

Most of them have. Lynard Skynard used to right songs booing George Wallace and decrying gun culture {SHA and Mr Saturday Night Special} now they got songs about "God and Guns" and about being "Unbroken" etc.

Worst piece of shit, fake ass Country Song I ever did heard {just keeping it country here} was sung by some clown called Blake Shelton.

It was called "Kiss My Country Ass" and featured lyrics about Coonhounds, Earnhardt stickers on his truck, driving whilst drinking, having a gun rack in his pickup, etc.

The most hackneyed cliched shit since Kid Rock.

    Country music is fucked.

Guys like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings had that much figured out years ago, what do they think songs like "Don't let your boys grow up to be Cowboys", "Are you sure Hank done it this way" and "This outlaw bit done got out of hand"

This just came on in missing as I was rummaging for dvds. I wiz aw like 'yeee'. Being street people rather than cactus people the clash moved TO nyc to further their sound, not out of it.

Haha! I usually listen to Swing Out Sister and Steely Dan when I am driving to the coast.

Steely Dan's "The Things I Miss The Most" is the best driving song ever.

    Insanely absurd

The viewpoints of Fagen and Becker are fucking QUINTESSENTIALLY, DISTINCTLY New York viewpoints... literally the polar opposite of LA... A major narrative theme in their work was the juxtaposition of two guys finding themselves in a city and culture that is alien and revolting to them... you do not get it

Rappers using smooth g-funk elements and rolling baselines would've been described as adopting a west coast sound in the 90s whatever the lyrics were
