Not the biggest of their hits, but I love the hook to this song, the sombre tone and the way it drifts of into a jam for the last half:

"You Make Me Feel Brand New" is one of the most incredibly produced tracks of all time... fascinating

    Thom Bell yeah?
But look at all the fuckin classics he produced from '68-'81 (inc. my previous Stylistics tune): pretty much every great Phile-soul hit...

    Jeez, that's impossible

    Here's 5 I love to hear play

Bernard Purdie - Such a beautiful sound, somehow light but firm and the most tasteful fills imaginable
Art Blakey - Ferocious, thunderous swing... They tried to mic him but as a drunk Hut might say, they CANNAE DAE IT
Shelly Manne - Eclectic, humorous, versatile
Jim Gordon - powerful, dynamic and could play anything
Dennis Chambers - like Gordon, a powerful drummer capable of the lightest touch

Interesting takes but some of those guys aren't rated highly at all in the first place... I mean Lars? Tommy Lee? Who rates those jerkoffs as good drummers? Nobody

He's dead wrong on Hal Blaine

Good to see someone slag off on Ginger Baker

As I walked down through glasgow city just to see what I might spy, who should I see but Nancy whiskey, a playful twinkle in her eye. The more i held her the more I loved her, the more I kissed her the more she smiled, soon i forgot my mothers teachings, Nancy fair had me beguiled

I'll be honest....when I heard Body Count remade Institutionalized, I wanted to hate it. It had nothing to do with Ice T or Body Count, it's just that there are some songs that are just such classics, that remaking them is almost considered blasphemy, and Institutionalized is one of those classic. But after hearing it, I gotta admit, they did a damn good job of it.
