Hut, I've got your back on this one, admittedly really late to the party though. M.I.A. is the shit, she is quite hit and miss but she does some really interesting stuff if you have any knowledge of electronic music.

Also I'm always going to defend a Hounslow bird, but yeah she's really good.

I finally got to see David Byrne live on Monday night, and I paid for the best seats in the house, front and centre. He had a twelve piece band, dominated by percussionists, all wireless and mobile so they effectively doubled as dancers. The stage was bare, framed only by hundreds of metal chains which were intermittently lit different colours, from beneath and above, as were the performers likewise glad in neutral grey. The set list was a 50/50 mix of old and new with the old almost exclusively the African influenced numbers from 79-83. Basically, it was absolutely fucking incredible, the old geezer is still the best there is ♥

Roland Kirk does Ellington's "Creole Love Call" while doing Roland Kirk things like playing two saxophones simultaneously and utilizing a lot of circular breathing

  17. I had a phase of buying tons of stuff by The Grateful Dead, mainly Dick´s Picks triple-CD sets from a variety of eras, but their shows are so fuckin long, I couldn't get into it enough to appreciate it.

Yeah I've always preferred their songs as is rather than the long jams... 68-72 they produced some wonderful songs ... then they added Donna Godcheaux whose "singing" ruins 90% of their music, especially live after 1972... by the time she was gone it was 1980 and they sucked anyway
