It absolutely is... If the point was to show off technical prowess, every single soloist on that track could have played far crazier things that are way harder to do... The point is to sing with the instrument, speak with the instrument... That is exactly what is happening on the track

You sound like the royal in Amadeus who says "there's too many notes!" to Mozart

If you'd like to know what true diddling is, feel free to listen to virtually any solo played by anyone in difficult heavy metal music or shite like Dream Theater

I didn't say 'look how fast I can play'. But the point is still 'oh wow, listen to that player(s)'. It isn't about the tune, it isn't about evoking 'a sound' in terms of production. It's an exercise in musicianship ultimately. I don't (really) mean that as a criticism......it isn't gay shit like Steve Vai or Dream Theatre - it's good; in the right mood i enjoy hearing it. But it's more for the player than the listener (unless the listener is also a player which I suspect a high % of jazz fans are, just like tech death metal). The listeners basically meant to be a passive, appreciative receptacle of The Playing.

Of course it is about the tune! The melody is absolutely hummable, the solos are brief verses, the whole tune is is concise and to the point with no meandering, no modal passages, just straight changes over an insistent swinging beat... If there was some Cockney bloke shouting "Oi don't care 'bout yer societ-ayyy... Oi don't care bout da Quwain... Oi'll take a piss on the Qwain mum!! Maggie Thatchuh eat my arsehole!!" and they played it worse, you'd be like "GENIUS!":scared2:

Aye very good. That actually is exactly like the shit my mate listens to though. Cock Sparra, Anti-Nowhere League, Exploited. It's apropos enough after 13 ciders but whenever I head up sober I can't help cracking up.....'right, so you really sit in the house and listen to this?'

I like to call mark a culture slut. Music's only interesting if it comes out of some interesting working class sub culture or street movement. He's got an interesting, in depth story about every shitty album he puts on it's quite good.

I like a fair bit of the stuff he likes to be fair. Most any reggae with female singer is gold to me and he's big into irish music. So we can always find something we both like. Plus, obnoxious Oi! music starts makes more sense when you've been drinking for 9 hours.:hut:

My friends who love Radiohead are really frustrated by me... I remember them making me sit through "Kid A" in its entirety and their exasperation when, at the conclusion, I asked "where's the part with the SONGS?" and then I said they were in dire need of a new drummer, as well

Radiohead are too depressing to deal with. In Rainbows is the one album I can dip in and out of sometimes, a few good tracks on that

It's such non-stop, weepy bullshit... And they don't write songs... They tune their guitars weird, play the same riff 5 times and Thom Yorke cries... It's all mood music... boring

I love it personnally. The thing you've posted is boring and uninteresting to me. To each his own I guess!
