It's the BEST List Thus Far on this Thread:clap: ...REED's Only Question is, WHERE's the WINK???... Did the LOSS to Bernard REMOVE Wink from the Equation Altogether???... REED:dunno:
Unfortunately yes. A recent loss like that puts him out of the equation, for me...but he's still top 20
In a thread that highlights the importance of not drinking and posting, ironic that the guy named "Whiskey" is spot on:: I agree with that completely, and I would also like to add that I have severe objections to a few of the lists. first and foremost, the thread's starter should be removed from the "subjective ideas list." As should anyone whose 1-2 are not Floyd/Pacquiao. In my opinion 1. Floyd 2. Pacquiao 3. Calzaghe 4. Hopkins 5. JMM 6. Hatton 7. Cotto 8. Pavlik 9. Raffy Marquez 10. Juan Diaz
Not Bad... REED would Slightly Disagree w/JM Marquez Being Sooooo HIGH, but that's about It...Nother SOLID List... SLOWLY, this Thread is GAINING Legitimacy... REED:clap:
truth be told, I dont think he belongs that high. However on a board that had him winning 11 rounds against Pacquiao by its regular RbR guy, I have to take things into consideration. I personally think Hatton and Cotto should be above him on my own list...but hey:dunno:
This thread shows exactly what is the problem with p4p lists. They are as useful (and for the sme purposes too) as "Champion Emeritus" titles. Whiskey's ranking was probably the closest to truth so far
hopkins is a hack - he don't belong. PBF hasn't had an impressive win since the last scrub he fought. hatton is a hack.
P4P is a waste of time and too subjective, but i'm bored at work so i may as well do a list. 1. Mayweather - The most skilled, talented boxer in the world. That doesn't make him number one, his longetivity at the top, domination of multiple divisions and sporadically fighting the top guys does. I don't like him at all, never have never will. Arrogant, ignorant and boring. But he's clearly number 1 2. Pacquaio -Not much needs to be said. Fights the best, beats the best, and is a warrior to boot. I can't be bothered typing reasons anymore so heres the rest of the list. 3. Hopkins 4. Calzaghe 5. Cotto 6. Hatton 7. Pavlik 8. JMM 9. Winky 10. J. Diaz
:nono: he got back up when he appeared to be out, almost dead. SOme might argue that thee was a long count though
no one is interested in hearing you denigrate the P4P concept YET AGAIN! Stay out of these lists, Fin.
:: But my question is: Why bother participate in P4P-related threads if the concept offends you? :dunno:
Has Cotto done something else, besides barely beating a 36 year old Shane Mosley. :dunno: I don´t see how that lands you ahead of Kelly Pavlik, Ricky Hatton or Juan Diaz, who scored decisive victories in their high-caliber fights. No way Cotto is top 5.
He also beat Zab Judah and is undefeated and a two division titlist. But yes, Hatton should be ahead of him....but not Pavlik or Diaz!!:nono:
I don't "hate" Shane mosley. The closest fighters that I've come to "hating" are Naseem hamed, Chris Eubank and Larry Holmes (Chris Byrd too). But that's not analogous anyway. If theres a topic that I think is plain stupid or boring I stay out of it. You don't see me posting in every single topic.
I'll throw my list out there... 1 - Mayweather 2 - Pacquaio 3 - Calzaghe 4 - J. Marquez 5 - W. Klitschko 6 - Hatton 7 - Cotto 8 - Calderon 9 - Pavlik 10 - Hopkins I'm not so certain about Hopkins...I think he's top 15 with Wink. Calderon has some of the best boxing skills, but many haven't seen the guy fight. He doesn't have any pop, but as far as boxing skills go...he's among the best. Seeing the year Pavlik had, plus the KO of Taylor...I can't see how he's not ranked above Hopkins especially seeing that Hopkins barely fights and mostly hugs and mauls.
Because he is strong and durable for a guy of his weight class. Since Mayweather is #1 because he is quick and skilful (despite being weak) for a welter, I think that allows Antonio to be in top-10 too :stir:
He's been on a few of the recent Telefutura cards and when he's sitting next to the announcers, he looks like a pre-teen. ::
If I had to make one change to my list, I'd drop Hopkins and add Juan Diaz at #10 or switch him with Pavlik at #9.
I'm kind of shocked that nobody has Israel Vazquez on their lists, and that Cotto and Hatton both rank as high as Top 5 of some. agREED on Calderon belonging in or very close to Top 10. One more "big" win at 108 (or if he dare take a chance AND win at 112) should clinch it for him. Also agREED that the top 3 is Floyd, Pac and Calzaghe, Floyd #1 and #2 up for grabs (though I'd lean toward Calzaghe at this point)
For what it's worth... 1. PBF 2. Calzaghe 3. Pacquiao (2 & 3 have reversed in my last after careful consideration of their respective last fights) 4. Hatton 5. Pavlik 6. JMM 7. W Klitschko 8. J Diaz 9. Cotto 10. Calderon Honourable mentions to: Hopkins, Kessler (losing close to JC is no great shame), Wright (losing to Hopkins is no great shame either), Clinton Woods (very underrated @175) and Williams MTF
Fuck it, let me be the first to include Vazquez :: 01. Floyd Mayweather 2a. Joe Calzaghe 2b. Manny Pacquiao 04. Juan Manuel Marquez 05. Israel Vazquez 06. Rafael Marquez 07. Kelly Pavlik 08. Ricky Hatton 09. Miguel Cotto 10. Ivan Calderon Cotto would be higher, except he's "only" beaten contenders throughout his career, whereas everyone else on my list has at least one win against the best in the division(s) in which they've campaigned, past or present. It's for that very reason that I've yet to rank Juan Diaz, although I'm sure almost everyone will argue he deserves to be on there instead of Calderon.
