Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 16s With a 4-year, $32M agreement for free agent Trevor Ariza, Houston could still match offer sheet for Chandler Parsons, source tells Yahoo. This makes no sense. Why would they match? Who's gonna start?
Gasol to the Bulls is good, they needed some scoring help. But they still lack that star power that Rose used to bring.
Good thing he is back. I really like DJ Augustine. To me he was the Bulls #1 priority. Taj,Noah and Gasol is a hell of a front court.
Has any NBA star ever come back from an injury history similar to Derrick Rose, and been close to a shadow of themselves? Guy has played 49 games in the past three years (the last 10 of those he played like garbage), and we're still talking about "If Derrick Rose and the Bulls...blah, blah, blah." Is there any reason he should even be relevant anymore, unless he proves otherwise? As of now, he's the next Penny Hardaway. Might hang around the league for awhile based on his past reputation, and throw up a few respectable but unspectacular 60 game seasons if he's lucky enough to stay somewhat healthy for that long, but he's not somebody you'd ever again draft in the 1st 4 rounds of your fantasy league.
That's why I was hoping for Melo to the Bulls. Would have contended even without Rose. History is against Rose big time.
Wow! The Wizards should definitely be considered contenders now.................................. if Piece was 6 years younger.
Another guy who's last name was Hardaway, a PG, and from Chicago, missed the entire '93-'94 season with the Warriors due to the same injury. Somehow, the Dubs go 50-32 that season anyway, and leaves us wondering how Timmy could have fared with Chris Webber but that's another topic altogether. Three seasons later, Tim Hardaway shares leadership with Alonzo Mourning on the Miami Heat and wins 61 games. Finishes 4th in MVP voting. So I guess Tim would qualify
Hardaway was a beast in the early 90s until injuries hit him. Rose wouldn't have won any MVP's in the early 90s. Not with guys like Jordan, Hakeem, and Barkley around. Hardaway was a beast in THE toughest era to be a point guard. With the no hand check rules, a young Timmy would be unstoppable in 2014. Essentially, a young Timmy was like a much better version of Kyrie. He was alot quicker than Irving. Kyrie doesn't blow by guys as easily as Hardaway used to. John Stockton was a great defender, and I remember him NEVER being able to stay with Hardaway.
agREED... Hardaway's Body of Work is More Impressive, but @ their ABSOLUTE BEST, REED Thinks Rose was BETTER...Tim Hardaway was a Fantastic Player, but Derrick Rose was SPECIAL... REED:hammert:
Tim Hardaway missed a single season. Rose has been sidelined for nearly 3 years now. Hardaway was never really the same either. Had a couple nice seasons with the Heat, but became a much less efficient overall player, while still missing huge chunks of various seasons.
Hardaway from 90-93, compares pretty favorably to Rose's best years, statistically anyways. Stats are actually pretty close considering they were not very similar in the way they played, though both are balls out type of players, when they were healthy.
Hardaway is being really underrated here. In his prime with Golden State, he was JUST as explosive a scorer as Rose, a much better playmaker. Rose was more athletic, that's his only edge.
Ah, the ol' "eye test" Tell me with your two eyes, how prime Derrick Rose is superior to prime Tim Hardaway? As to your question, hardly ever anymore, until the recent playoffs. FightBeat.com rekindled my interest though. :: I did see quite a bit of Tim Hardaway though, back when I was following the career of Portland Trailblazers 6th man extraordinaire, Clifford Ralph Robinson. :bears: BTW, I know I'm mostly talking out of my ass on this subject. I know you know your shit Neil.
Yeah, but he was out of his element. Rip qualifies for "Best use of a Facemask/Headband combo, since Hannibal Lecter had that ABA tryout with the Virginia Squires"
Hardaway was in his prime when the only dominant perimeter player was Mike, and to a lesser degree than Jordan, Drexler. Now, you can't put a hand on these guards to defend them, so even bums like Lin can go wild sometimes. Tim Hardaway and Kevin Johnson are two early 90s pg's would be dominant under today's rules. BOTH Hardaway's were better than Rose; Penny by a wide margin.
