If Westy gets traded, OKC will FINALLY have a season without a superstar caliber player (hurricane Katrina saw the New Orleans Hornets move to OKC for two years with a young Chris Paul)

Yea I'd say durant is a slight upgrade over barnes and bogut

Durant will get a ton of open shots playing with a team that actually moves the ball

They had the best season in nba history and were one game away from being back to back champions. The needed a screw to be tightened, not a whole fucking new engine

I don't know if they can improve on 73 wins, but they're going to score a shit ton of points. They have 3 of the most efficient shooters in the NBA right now, along with 3 guys who don't miss free throws.

If anybody is going to see a ton of more open shots, it's going to be Klay. Wonder if they will try and post Durant more, as they have the perimeter on lockdown already with Klay and Curry.

Draymond will have fun dishing out the assists next season.

Durant will defer if he's not on, just like the rest of the Warrior team.

He deferred to Westbrook on a regular basis and he was way less efficient then just about everybody on the Warriors. Golden State will make his job easy.

Did you see the game with the series with the Warriors when he wasn't deferring and missing shot after shot after shot? And the Warriors want this guy to be a closer?

Also, speaking of tweaks, okc just needed some tweaks. They almost beat the Warriors. Honestly this is a bitch move, but I knew it was coming.

This would be equivalent to Jordan signing with the Celtics or Pistons.

    Bitch move

I knew he'd get away from westbrook as soon as the opportunity arose

You'll see how much easier the game will be for durant

I understand, that there is more money there to be thrown at pretty average players. What I don't understand that this guy gets 30 million a year guaranteed for 5 years and Durant 27 million for two years? Can anybody explain this to me? Is he taking less to be on an almost safe pick for the title or what's going on?

He didn't have anybody to defer to. There wasn't a single other player on that team besides Westbrook who wanted to take shots.

Remember that game when Durant passed Roberson the ball at the 3-point arc and there wasn't a single defender within 10 feet of him, and he instead passed it up to a guy who was covered in the corner (either Waiters or Morrow, I don't remember which). I think the other guy actually made the tough shot, but it pissed Durant off.

Anyways, you're right in the sense it was kind of a bitch move, and the Warriors certainly didn't NEED Durant.....but now that they've got him, they're going to be even tougher to defend.

Question will be how porous it makes them defensively.

Only thing I can think of is they expect the salary cap to expand even more in the coming few years and want to lock these guys up now, while they can.

Durant will cost much more in two years if he's still relatively healthy.

Hopefully he doesn't get lackadaisical. He needed Westbrook to spark a fire in his ass every once in awhile. Maybe Draymond will fill that role for him in Golden State.

If westbrook becomes a free agent you'll see the difference between the two

    Every fucking team wanted durant

Where as only the scrubby rebuilding teams and maybe a few select playoff teams will want want westbrook

None of the elite will want him

Greatest thing in the history of the nba is okc getting that title before Warriors.

This Has Been REED's Criticism All Along...The RELUCTANCE of Durant's 6'11 Ass to Play in the Post MORE...As is, He's a 6'11 PERIMETER Player with a 7'6 Wingspan....

It's BAD Enough Durant's Joining the Squad he CHOKED AWAY a 3-1 Lead Against...But To All of a Sudden STOP Jacking Up Ill Advised 3's from the Top of the Key/Wing, Once he Joins the Team that ELIMINATED Him from the Playoffs, Would Be The Ultimate BITCH Move....

Your boy westbrook is about to be exposed when durant elevates his game, now surrounded by players who actually know how to move the ball and can hit open shots

In case you hadn't noticed Neil, KD isn't exactly used to passing the rock around the perimeter himself. The pecking order of that team was well established. Adding KD complicates things a bit. They will certainly adjust but how will Klay take to being the 3rd option now? We all shall see...

It was probably the Max contract Golden State could have offered him. He could have probably made more on another team or with a long-term contract with OKC, but he didn't want that.

At a certain point, guys like him can pick any team they want because the money is so obscene already it's almost meaningless.....plus he probably makes more in endorsements anyways.

I see no issues. All 3 will get even more open looks. Durant is a willing passer. It ain't like he's gonna be kicking the ball to roberson and waiters anymore

I predict Steph and Klay will probably take a 5 point per game hit on their averages with Durant in the fold. I doubt either one will give a shit.

Outside of himself, OKC was never a great shooting team, so he didn't really have anybody to "pass the rock" to. He still dished out about 5 dimes a game the last several years. I'll wager he ups that a bit with Golden State.

    ELEVATE???...

Durant was a 28-30ppg Dude in OKC...He AIN'T Elevating Shit in Oakland, Homey...There's NOT Enough Basketballs or Shots for Durant to Maintain his OKC Average AND for the Splash Brothers and Draymond to Maintain Theirs...And DON'T Think for a Second ANY of Those Cats are Looking to DECREASE their Scoring Output for a Guy they ELIMINATED from the Playoffs...

Like REED Said, THE LAST Thing Golden State Needs is a 6'11 PERIMETER Player...Durant's a BONUS for Certain, but NOT a Necessity...

Statistically, Westbrook WON'T Skip a Beat Sans Durant and Will 1nce Again Get MORE MVP Votes...
