Exactly. SAS is often a moron but in this case his view aligns with my own.

KD leaving is nothing that's the NBA. Leaving to go to the team that just knocked you out of the playoffs is weak.

And to a team you almost beat. Okc was a tweak away from beating the Warriors.

Smith is a blowhard. he says he'd be cool with it if Durant had went to san antonio but not to golden state. whats the fucking difference?

San Antonio is in a rebuilding process. There is a big difference.

Yeah. Duncan, ginobali 38 and 40. West and Parker 35 years old.

They are looking to rebuild and durrant knows this and damn sure doesn't want to put in the work.

the spurs are a championship contender, not a rebuilding team. that is the most ridiculous thing Ive heard. they have the best front line in the league with gasol, aldridge and leonard

They aren't winning a championship with those three. Gasol will be gone in 2 years. Duncan possibly retiring. Ginobali possibly leaving of retiring. West and Parker got probably two or three years left.

Clearly the team is thinking rebuild around Aldridge and Leonard. Unless you think these old ass players going to last forever.

The team won 67 games last season. Clearly we got different definitions of rebuilding. Leonard is one of the top 5 players in the league. Aldridge is one of the top big men. Gasol, green and parker are quality starters. This is an elite 60+ win team

Overrated ass Kawhi Leonard isn't a top 5 player IMO.

Top 4 is easy. It's Bron, Curry, KD, and Westbrook. But I'd say that a healthy Davis is a better and more valuable player than Leonard.

Make no mistake - Kawhi Leonard is a SYSTEM star.

Serious question, what in the Hell makes Leonard better than Klay Thompson? Leonard's a better defender, but Klay is a solid defender. Klay is MILES better on offense and far more capable of taking over a game.

well he's a better defender, far better. and, although it seems everyone would agree thompson's one edge is in the shooting department, leonard had a better FG%, 3 pt FG %, and FT % last season.

id still give thompson the edge as a pure shooter but the rest of leonards offensive game is better. and he's bigger and he's a much better rebounder

If they werent rebuilding why did they get Gasol? Why did they pick up Aldridge last year? You dont think they are trying to put rebuilding mechanism in place, when Duncan, parker and Ginobli retire?

i dont really know what youre arguing. you obviously have a different definition of what a rebuilding team is. the lakers are rebuilding. teams with 3 all stars in their starting five aint rebuilding. 67 win teams aint rebuilding.

My thoughts are it sure it like the old days.

Imagine Mike joining the Pistons in the early 90s when he couldn't beat them.

These new school cats are all about traveling the path of least resistance.

Adding two key players over the past 2 years and knowing they have to prepare for duncan, and Ginobli to retire is a rebuilding a process. Sorry.

you seem to agree with smith that it would have been ok for durant to sign with san antonio instead of golden state. I dont get it. if he had signed with the spurs they would be favored to win the championship. i guarantee you they would have had the lowest odds to win a title in las vegas.

how the fuck can a team be in the rebuilding process when they won 67 games the previous season?

they already upgraded over duncan with gasol, and ginobili is a role player.

THEY JUST GOT GASOL!!!! And that is only for 2 years. Gasol will retire soon. It doesnt matter how many games they won. their players are old. or getting old. If you dont think they are scrambling behind the scenes to get this team built to sustain them for the next 10-12 years you are nuts. And that is a rebuilding process.

C'mon man, what the fuck is going on here? Kawhi is certainly better then Klay and San Antonio ain't fucking re-building. San Antonio never rebuilds, they re-tool.

Closest they ever came to rebuilding was tanking that one season David Robinson was hurt, so they could draft Duncan and they were right back in the mix.

A team adding players so they stay relevant is NOT a fucking re-build. The Sixers have been rebuilding for half a fucking decade now. The Spurs are not rebuilding. This is some stubborn logic you're employing right now, I gotta think you must be trolling for a reaction.

So 67 Win team gets Durant.....A-OK because "rebuild"? A 73 Win team gets Durant = "bitch move"?

So basically any team besides the Warriors you would have been OK with.

Sure. Spurs are just gonna wait until for Duncan and ginobli to retire. Wait for parker and west to retire. Wait for gassol's two years to end and THEN start working on sustainability.

Now had they gotten Durrant, from there they dont have to worry about these old guys leaving them. They would have been secure with him, leonard & aldrige. Had a couple of years to lure in a nice PG for when parker goes. From there they can get a good center.

This is a rebuilding process. It's not as elaborate as the lakers, but it's still a process to rebuilding their team.

And if you think im trolling, just fuck off and ignore me.

Yeah it's a big difference. The warriors are young and Durrant will be diminished. With the Spurs, Durrant will be the leader of the team and will have to put in work when these guys retire. Again, parker & West 35, ginobli and duncan 38-40. Gassol i dont think gets signed if they got durrant.

It's not likely at all Durant is "diminished". The Warriors play faster than the Thunder and Draymond green's offensive role will likely be slightly diminished to sacrifice for Durant.

The only reason his numbers will be way down is because he'll be playing 30 minutes a night when hes sitting out the 4th quarter.

Your hero Charles Barkley attempted this with Hakeem and Drexler back in 96. Granted they were all towards the end of their careers a la the Boston 3 Party and not in their late 20s...

But realistically what are the odds KD stays in GS?

Hes literally going to pull a LeBron, join the Warriors for 2 years then join some random team like Boston or maybe go full LeBron and go back to OKC or Seattles new team in 2 years
