PPV brings the income. 50,000 tickets don't mean nothing when your doing 400,000 on PPV.

How do you know what TV revenue Joe is or isn't pulling over there? All PPV numbers normally boasted are US-based only.

When HBO tell you what time the fight is started im pretty sure HBO is bringing the money. I heard Joe made around $3,000,000 for his fight with Kesller. Is there any truth to that Jake.

HBO paid him $3 million for the fight, yes. Again, though, I don't know how much he was paid by whatever British station carried the fight.

The only decent fight at Lightheavyweight is Chad Dawson, but I'd prefer Chad get more experienced first, he should knock out that overrated sensationalist Romanian, "The AWESOME, BRUTAL, PITBULL" as ESPN screeeeeaaaaaamed,.. Adriaaan Diaconuuuuuuuuu!!!!...awwww! WOWOWOWOW!,..

    Chad KO 2

Setanta paid and were much lighter in the pocket for it.

how much money did the gate make for calzaghe kessler?

Setanta have pretty deep pockets, it wasnt on PPV but a year long subscription was necessary...I doubt it would match HBO's fee but probably not far off.

Can't help with that one. I didn't see the official crowd numbers, but there looked to be 40+ thousand there.

It was around 50,000. HBO said the exact numer it was slightly over 50,000.

    Absolutely.

if they sold 50,000 tickets that means for the gate to be impressive the average ticket price would have to be between 100-200 US$

Which it would have been. That's only between 50 and 100 quid. The pound is very strong compared to the puny dollar.

Top ticket price was around 1000 US$. If the gate receipts are in line with what Jay Larkin outlined when first negotiating the fight, then the fight pulled in over $10 million in ticket sales.

This is not quite true- Setanta don't do the whole SKY Sports annual subscription thing: it's ten quid a month with no contract.

They do have fairly deep pockets though, and I'd be interested to know how many monthly subscriptions were generated on the basis of this fight alone (and have now cancelled, which effectively made them PPV subscribers at $20 a go)

That's a very polite way of dealing with this sort of mad, mad statement...
