Me too. Like Sly I have no real interest in it but every time I hear a show is really good a consistent amount of times, it never fails to be true. (GoT, The Wire, The Night Of).

 

I know...the doc explained that part well, as well as I remember people (including a couple of jurors) saying right after the verdict that it was a "make-up" verdict for King and numerous other racial injustices.

I wish they had gotten more views on why a lot of white people were so angry and distraught. We heard opinions from blacks on why the acquittal was so important to them, but not from whites on why it made them so mad. People get away with crimes all the time. Why was this one more heartbreaking? The whole "white fear" about the black male? It would have been nice to hear some viewpoints on that.

And Consider the Source of that Quote, an ELDERLY Black Man who's Spent his ENTIRE Existence as a 2nd Class American Citizen...w/the Rodney King Verdict Being Sooooooooooooo FRESH in Black Folks' Minds, THE LAST Thing Expected was a Black Man Being Found INNOCENT, in Such a High Profile Case, with a Mountain of Evidence Stacked Against Him...

The Footage of Blacks CHEERING the OJ Verdict had Very Little to Do w/Simpson Himself, it was About What the Case Itself Represented HISTORICALLY, in Particular, the FACT No Black Man had EVER Gone Toe to Toe w/the System as Such, and WON...For Better or Worse, When OJ Won, Blacks "Won"...It was a "Victory" in the Same Vein Jackie Robinson Breaking Baseball's Color Barrier was a Victory...Or How Obama Becoming President was a "Victory"...

Admittedly, REED CRINGED as the Old Brother Uttered Those Words, but REED "Got" What he Meant...
