Much as I degraded this fight, the sense I'm getting right now, it might have actually HELPED the sport.

I think the casuals will be pumped for Canelo-GGG.

The fight was anything but boring that's for sure.

I would like to see Conor box again, personally. He'd get killed by guys like Spence and Thurman but I think his style will bother the 2nd tier fellas in the 147/154 divisions.

Bullshit. Yeah he gassed - he's new to the sport/format - but he was out boxing floyd mayweather before that. That's the main point. And he isn't even a boxer. His skill set is fucking unbelievable. I don't believe for a minute floyd deliberately let him win those rounds - he didn't know what to do with him.

    LOL.

It wouldn't take Spence or Crawford to beat Conor.

All it would take is a competent pro who can last longer than 3 rounds.

In the UK this is the second mega fight in a row after joshua-klit which has been a big hit, Id say the sports at a real high point among casuals right now.

To be fair to Mcgregor, the guy has a decent skill set. But he has no power (surprisingly) and he expand way too much energy, and I think he'll ever be able to correct this.

Guy would obviously had potential if he boxed seriously early on, but now, he has no shot

I never expected his power to translate to boxing...but maybe he punches harder than it looked. Floyd has never been officially dropped by a punch in now 50 fights.

If you were impressed more power to you. He landed some punches because he is awkward and Mayweather wasn't very sharp but he wasn't blowing me away with his boxing skills. Mayweather was just walking him down and barely fighting like his normal fighting style.

He gasses in MMA as well so it wasn't a surprised to me that he would run out of steam. Seems like Mayweather knew this as well.

It was a fun fight, enjoyed it, credit to McGregor he did much better than I thought he would, regardless of Floyd's advanced years.

One thing I took away from it was that Floyd would have really struggled against the likes of Vernon Forrest, guys who would have had significant height and reach on him. He knew he could get to McGregor as he tired and fought aggressively, walking him down, against a world class BOXER with those attributes who fought tall, it would have been interesting to see him take those same risks.

I don';t think it was just mcgregor's height and reach though...it was also the southpaw jab. When Conor stuck it out and kept it in his face you can see that Floyd struggled to know how to get past it. In the post fight presser Floyd said that he hadn't sparred for teh last month. I don't think that's normal...and it would also help explain why he seemed so rusty.

Floyd is tough to stop. His chin is solid and even at 40, he's not that easy to hit.

Anthony, eat crow with your bitch ass.

I told you that MMA power wouldn't transfer to boxing.

McGregor looked about as powerful as Paul Spadafora.

It's extremely obvious that any counterpuncher is at a severe disadvantage when his opponent is much taller and actually uses his height to force the counterpuncher to move forward.

Thats why Floyd tended to avoid those types of fighters at higher weights where he wasnt as powerful

At Super Featherweight he wouldve been fine

Good fight. Very entertaining. Floyd won, as he should have. This was no Gatti/Mayweather as many here thought. Did Gatti ever land a shot?
A question one should ask themselves is if a 0-0 boxer not named Mcgreger fought Floyd, would he be able to be this competitive? I don't think so.
And if Mcgregor had a boxing gas tank and was use to throwing nothing but punches for 36 minutes, how much more competitive would he have been. Im glad this is all over. I think this fight actually helps boxing. It was a great event all around and the two delivered.

This Fight DIDN'T Hurt Boxing @ All...

Floyd's 40, Hadn't Fought in 2 Years, Facing a MUCH Younger, Bigger, Stronger Guy...And he Walked Down and Stopped the Guy...

From an Entertainment Perspective, this was BETTER than Floyd-Pac...

I never said MMA power would transfer to boxing. How could it with 8oz gloves? Not sure what crow i should be eating. I said from say one floyd should have won this match and he did. I just hoped he wouldnt.

All MMA ppl are saying that Conor has a shit gas tank in MMA as well.

Ever consider that maybe he just has poor fight stamina?

Yup. Mayweather was in with some big punchers in his life. Because Coner didnt knock him out, that doesnt mean coner doesnt have power. Nobody has knocked floyd out.

Also I think people are both overselling and underselling Conor as a boxer.

He mostly looked inadequate in terms of his punching technique and stamina but that is the result of not having boxed for a good 20 years of his life...

What he does have that allowed him to do decent is great natural tools and talent. Hes tall for his weight with a good reach, he has good feet, has has ok balance and hes a fluid athlete.

Im not terribly interested in seeing him box much more because hes so far behind.. if he was 18/19 you might have something there.
