If anybody had said floyd would be 0-3 after 3 rounds you'd have laughed even harder.

 

Hopkins at 48 against Karo Murat was a lot less stinky than PBF was tonight. ANd Murat is a much better boxer than McGregor

 

I do. Paulie would beat him up easily.

McGregor proved to be extremely talented athletically, the quickness of his fists and the sharp stance-changes surprised me. He is for real in that sense.

But, he does lack boxing technique.

You can say that no 0-0 fighter wins first two rounds against Floyd. Maybe not, but I would give the Olympic champion a god chance of doing so. Especially if this champion was 10 lbs the heavier guy, Floyd was at his 40s and Floyd knew the fight was scheduled for 12.

Think about it the other way: had Robert Guerrero won two rounds against Floyd, then gotten the shit beaten out of him and stopped, would everybody be praising what a remarkable performance we witnessed?

Conor did surprisingly good. It doesn't mean he did actually good

I don't recall Porter ever gasing in a fight. Except mabe against Brooks and even calling this gassing is a stretch

 

yeah let's settle down with this Mcgregor was up after 3 bs. Pretty much any decent trained athlete could be ahead Haile Gebrselassie after a few kilometers of a marathon if they wanted to. doesn't mean that it's impressive or that they'll come close to beating him

 

How would McGregor fare against the Cotto who bashed Kamegai's face in

 

And, on first viewing to me, it only really became close because mcgregor was gassing badly as it went, not due to being technically outclassed.

He got walked down by a guy he outweighed by how much?

All Floyd did was come forward...easy work and makes him look good for giving fans what he promised as his farewell fight

 

just look at this thread. There's numerous poster claiming he was impressive and even one dimwit called his skillset unbelievable and that he only lost cause he gassed

I wouldn't say he was dissapointing, cause I wasn't expecting much, but I agree that it's far from the glorious achievement some think it is

 

This was, physically, the worst version of Floyd mayweather we've ever seen.

Mcgregor is at least legit in boxing. That's quite impressive, considering this is his pro debut.

But mcgregor guaranteed again and again that he'd stop Floyd within 4 rounds. He didn't seem close to doing that, & even against the slowest, oldest Floyd we've ever seen. So even though mcgregor outperformed compared to the biggest naysayers, he radically underperformed compared to the claims he'd made for himself. Mcgregor did pretty good, all things considered, but this wasn't a great or special performance, which he and his camp had promised since day one.

 

Those guys are just trying to troll man

The fight didn't really answer many questions about McGregor skill level...Unless you're all analysing how well he threw combos at Floyd's guard?

It's a simple story of being walked down by a much smaller fighter and gassing like a total dummy

 

Who would have thought the much bigger KO artist was a feather-fist, and the 40-year old midget was David Tua

Maybe if you expected McGregor to get Ko'd with the first punch then his performance was impressive but the only reason he had any success was because Mayweather did next to nothing for the first three rounds. He had a game plan to fight completely out of character and go straight at him and grind him down and he did just that. McGregor's "success" was a product of Mayweathers game plan.

Floyd was backing up a guy that out weighed him by 20 lbs and had him holding on for dear life at the end of the fight.

Floyd showed such little regard that he basically decided from day 1 that he was going to give away all the rounds he needed for Conor to gas...the only work he did was whatever needed to get Conor to throw more
Ballsy and risky, and giving the fans what they wanted and what he promised...but total disregard and disrespect too

 

Not quite but I'll take that as more credible than what you just posited in the following post. McGregor didnt pose any challenges: Floyd lost rounds, shipped shots and missed punches on purpose!

mcgregor was expecting to blow him out, & yet he simply can't fight inside. He threw basically no hooks? You can stun people with those long punches when you're wearing tiny mma gloves; harder to do it in boxing gloves
