Not sure I agree with MWS hyperbole, Floyd beat the shit out of nobody, McGregor basically got tired.

Paul Williams might have done a number on Floyd.

McGregor is money. With Floyd gone he is the biggest draw in combat sports. A fight with Conor and Paulie could probably do around 3 million buys.

LOL. McGregor-Paulie would NOT do 3 million PPV buys. GTFOH!

    I don't even think it'd be a mil.

Canelo-McGregor, now THAT fight does mega numbers of 2-3 million... but Conor isn't stupid enough to take that fight. The Ginger would have him eating through a straw.

I had always found it surprising that people were thinking that Floyd couldn't take the punches of McGregor when Floyd took punches from guys like Super Judah, De La Hoya, Canelo and Mosley.

With Floyd gone, McGregor is the biggest draw in combat sports at the moment. But IF Canelo pulls this off in 3 weeks, it'll be arguable.

I don't wanna blame ALL the MMA fans, because some MMA fans having a functioning knowledge of both sports, and THOSE fans knew it was a mismatch.

It was the MMA fans who've never watched boxing a day in their lives who thought McGregor's "power" would be too much.

Hardly hyperbole. 2 judges scored a 10-8 round with no KD, that's rare in boxing, a guy has to be taking a one sided beating for that to happen.

In rounds 9 and 10 he was walking Conor down and just landing one flush shot after another, if that's not beating the fuck out of someone, what is?

The real question is - how does a boxing fan gain respect for MMA after this? do all ufc fighters have feather fists and bad stamina?
It'll be hard to watch a fight and not wonder just how weak they are punching

You act as if he was beating the fuck out of the guy using his boxing skills though. He was clearly gassed as fuck, and easy target practice as he couldn't even hold up his hands anymore.

I think maybe Conor was pulling his punches a bit in anticipation of gassing in the near future?

So are you saying that Conor didn't gain anyone's respect last night?

You act as if Floyd and his boxing skills had nothing to do with Conor gassing. Have you wondered why Conor was able to slap Paulie about in the championship rounds but was borderline gassed in round 4 or 5 against Floyd?

It's like saying "He only lost because he got hit on the chin and KO'd".

My point is that he wasn't beating the fuck out of Conor until he was gassed and defenseless. He was holding his own until he got taken into deep water. Just giving him some props for exceeding my expectations. That's all.

If McGregor can turn a Paulie fight into a million PPV buy. he should do it. Paulie is shot to shit and at worst he'll lose a competitive decision, especially if he makes it a 10 rounders.

But even then, as a fan of both sport, I much prefer seeing Mcgregor in the UFC than in boxing, cause he's nothing more than a sideshow in the latter

Let's not pretend that PBF was not deliberately letting him win these rounds. Conor looked good for a round and a half, but PBF strategy had a lot to do with it.

As I said before, being ahead after a quarter of a marathon is cool, but it's not much of an achievement if you collapse pitifully afterward

Yeah, and it's like saying Foreman was outboxing Ali before he gassed. Ali let him win rounds to tire himself out, then took him out.

    This fight was no different.

Floyd letting Conor work away and hit pretty much just arms and gloves is part of his boxing skill. That's part of why Conor gassed, and part of why Floyd was able to just beat the crap out of him with ease and stop someone for the first time in years.

I can't see any future for McGregor in boxing, McGregor vs May weather had a sense of occasion and intrigue because of the personalities involved and their position in their respective sports. Who would pay to watch him against Malignaggi? McGregor is clearly not much of a boxer and I can't imagine MMA fans have any more interest in paying to watch him box. Boxing fans would have no interest in paying to watch him for the same reason, plus they know Malignaggi is washed up. Casuals would not be that excited after last nite''s reveal, or maybe I'm wrong?

Hut Hut thinks he's a better boxer than Mayweather, others may think so too and create a huge demand for McGregor in boxing :D
