Pretty much, yeah. He's 34. That's past it for speedy, explosive guys.

Povetkin is a waste, and this fight smells like cash out time for him. Hope he proves me wrong and fight with heart.

He's fighting like a guy who is trying too hard. Too much effort.

I think this is gonna be one hell of a tactical affair and certainly won't be a classic. I just can't see Povetkin being able to get to Wlad. I think Povetkin will be too cautious. I've gone for Wlad KO 7, but a wide points win is most likely, tbh.

How many fights has that guy had since Wlad? 1? He's had one fucking fight. Thats the problem. The others won't fight.

    This is Klitschkos 5th??

Regarding the fight itself I think Povetkin will really try hard, early doors. He'll have to break through with something big. Wlad will jab him, seek to use his vastly superior footwork to establish, then maintain the range. If Povetkin gets inside, Wlad will lean on him and wear him out. Once the distance is re-established, Povetkin risks walking onto something big, unless he rushes in again faster than Wlad can get the shots off. I will be watching Dunce and friends carefully, they will be rooting for Povetkin. They know the others can't deal with Haye but if Povetkin gets Wlad out of there, they will be hoping Povetkin gets suckered into coming to England.

The thing is, I don't think Povetkin will be able to slip Wlad's jab much to land telling shots. He hasn't the reflexes these days. I can envisage Povetkin getting into a rage which could be interesting, but probably results in him getting sparked. I hope he Povetkin just goes for it. He might as well.

I know what you mean, he has a laboured way of fighting now.

Nope...he doesn't. And his being an Olympic Gold Medalist means nothing right now.

Povetkin is an ok opponent, but he really isn't on Wlad's level.

I suspect Povetkin will be content with going the distance and not getting too roughed up (except on the scorecards) and Wlad will be content to let him.

I HOPE Povetkin comes to fight and it turns into a better fight than expected, but I am not holding my breath.

Povetkin will come to fight but whether it is for long enough to tip the matter in his balance I am not sure.

If I am wrong and this turns out be a good fight with real effort from both, then I will be happy to be wrong.

Problem with Povetkin is that he often tries too fucking hard, and blows himself out rather than the opponent.

I don't know what Povetkin you guys are watching, I'm not seeing it. Guy has looked plodding to me for a long time. He was sharper & faster back in '06 or '07, but even then I was never that impressed. I've had this disagreement with others, so it may be I'm just missing something.

It's entirely possible he fights down to the level of the opposition. I think it was Fewd_Dave that mentioned it, but he could have simply rotted on the vine over the years. He looked very good against Huck in the opening few rounds with good crisp work to the body. Then he just got tired and sucked into Hucks dirty war. I think he has a real chance if he just forgets 99% of what other people have told him and goes back to his fundamentals. Wlad is still Wlad, he can still be gotten to, and Povetkin has got to believe in himself. Of course, right hand bombs set up by a laser jab have been known to instill hesitancy in just about anyone.

    Small ring apparently, tonight.

@JoM..........Bunce the Dunce is still talking in his studio, I think we are 30 minutes out, conservatively.

I wonder, if Wlad, like the Germans, has not taken enough heed of what Boris Pasternak described as the "cursed capacity for suffering" so often exhibited by the Russians. Povetkin will keep going until he is nailed to the floor, or victorious. He has a quiet dogged humility about him.

Well if he gets hit by the right shot it won't matter as strength of the will doesn't aid the unconscious.

Wlad is not a bomber in the sense of Lennox Lewis with that right hand. His left is his killer, but he's too tight/conservative/scurred to get it off like he used to.
