I never understood Rahman's power.... his punches were so slow and telegraphed

Wilder obviously has huge power and snap in his shots. He has speed too which means he can catch guys with shots they don't expect or see coming, which always maximises damage. Agreed with X in that his delivery system is atrocious. I never thought of Briggs as a huge puncher, strong yeah, but power-wise nothing out of the ordinary.

For one shot power, Wilder. Bowe was obviously a much, much better fighter though.

Golota gave Bowe all sorts of trouble but against Wilder he'd probably get windmill khtfko'd

    Wilder.

Bowe better at literally every other facet of boxing, and Bowe would have slaughtered Wilder inside of 5.

    A spade is a spade.

I hate DLH, but if someone got on here and said "Oscar's jab was shit," then I would have to call bullshit.

He hit Holy 1,000 times more than Wilder would ever get a chance to, because Holy would slip that sloppy right hand and tear Wilder apart.

But that doesn't make Bowe a bigger one punch hitter.

96 Golota might fuck Wilder up.

Wilder doesn't have the delivery system of Lewis and Tyson, and he can't attack effectively like they could.

There's a good chance Golota eventually gets caught by a bomb, but prior to that he'd be beating the shit outta Wilder.

Disagreed, Briggs was a huge hitter, especially in his later days when he packed on some muscles (ahem ahem). But he was a one trick pony and that simply doesn't cut it at the upper level

This is turning out to be a pretty fun thread. Good topic. Its no secret my favorite boxers are those with big power. Mayweather was a great fighter but he never put a beating on Canelo as Mayweather claims. Outpointing(out scoring) is not whopping his ass. No combinations, No Flush power shots. Floyd claiming he whooped him with no knockdowns, no stunning shots. That's I survived against a stronger younger man bragging rights. That's why im not a fan of pure defensive boxers. Good topic btw.

Lol Ok maybe sparring is a bit of a stretch. But lets be honest a big puncher like Tyson would have put Charlie in a coma. I get this guy was a troll that realized he was in over his head and ran for his life. But when they squared off and Wilder landed flush on the troll who had no boxing skills just a weirdo off the street...I expected to see more damage. Like Charlie dropping hard and going into the siezure or something lol.

Floyd landed plenty of flush shots.......and floyd won 10-11 rounds easily. I say he whooped him.....Floyd was boxing, he was moving, he was stalking, he was doing everything in there vs. Canelo. FLOYD didn't survive against the younger, stronger, naturally bigger guy...he dominated him.

Yeah Floyd pretty much dominated Canelo just as Bivol did but at least against Bivol Canelo had more moments. Canelo’s workrate was non-existent agaisnt Floyd. I expected him to be more aggressive but he tried to out slick and out think Floyd and the smaller man in this case put the younger and stronger challenger on the back foot all night.

The key to beating Canelo is to back him up and time counter left hooks. He’s wide open for that punch. He’s good at slipping straight rights. But he can’t avoid the hook to save his life and the Bivol fight showed this. Canelo doesn’t really have a good straight right either. He usually favors throwing a loaded up right hook or right uppercut which leaves him open for the hook.

Even the fight with Plant. Caleb caught him numerous check hooks. Just had no power.

Floyd embarrassed Canelo and won at a canter. It was definitely a whupping.

I'm not really blaming anyone, just revelling in the general mayhem...

I give Wilder an 8 for power....6 for power and 2 for snap and ease of delivery which counts for a lot.

Definitely not top 5. I've seen many on other sites put him at number 1, purely on his KO percentage. That's just ridiculous. His technique/delivery is shocking, but the guy can hit. 7/8 out of 10.

    No…

Floyd won the De La Hoya fight 8-4 FLH had his moment…

the first Castillo fight is the only close fight I would say was close 7-5…6-6. Still think Floyd won.

Floyd vs Canelo wasn’t close at all….it was a dominating performance, you don’t need to stun, hurt or score a knockdown to dominate your opponent.

Again I never said Canelo won the fight, was close to winning the fight or that it was even competitive. But maybe your definition of "Whooping someone's ass" and my definition are different and that's ok.

Fury vs Wilder 3 thats whooping someone's ass. And Yes to whoop someone's ass you do require knockdowns, to stun or hurt someone. At no point did floyd do any of those things. Canelo had no marks on his face but absolutely lost that fight on points. No one is arguing that fact... See the difference?

Seriously though, I've been watching tennis, and football (both American and world) more than boxing lately.

I suspect my boxing spark will return soon.

I’ve drifted in and out boxing as well. Futbol was always constant since the mid 90s for me. Aways loved La Liga and the EPL. And though I don’t have a favorite South American club, I’ve always loved watching Copa Libertadores when it’s on.

I was into tennis since the late 80s/early 90s thanks to my parents always watching. MLB is big on the island and I used to watch it more but haven’t since Ken Griffey Jr retired. NFL and NBA faded away for me some years ago. Every now and then I catch an NFL game but the NBA has become boring for me. I have more fun playing basketball with friends than actually watching the NBA anymore.

So I’m basically down to boxing and futbol full time and I dabble in tennis, MLB and NFL on occasion.

7 out of 10 is ridiculous, how many boxer do you see stretching guys out cold on a regular basis (even if they're scrubs) ?? On the other hand, some people really overrate his power, precisely because he mostly fought scrubs. Nonetheless, he s a solid 8.5/ 9
