I'm not subscribing to the "Spinks won" notion but some might argue that all Taylor did was come forward and hit Spinks' gloves.

Jer-bum was punching air for 12 rounds. I'm not even a big Spinks fan but I think it was fairly obvious that Jer-bum got handled on Saturday.

 

Correct and the numbers support this position. I am not happy about defending a disgrace like JT, but there is no one lower than Stinks. He is a singled celled bit of pond scum. He should be euthanized. I would suggest acid, but he has the Stinks Jinx already and the acid might make him more appealing.

 

Taylor landed the only good shots in the fight.. and he CONTROLLED the ring... Spinks ran for his life, he shoudln't be on tv anymore.

 

I don't mind Cory Spinks doing his thing as a Middleweight, but keep this guy off TV

I didn't say you said he landed more. But Taylor missed a hell of a lot more. F*ck compubox - since when did those stats validate anything? Maybe Taylor turned it around in the last four rounds cuz I didn't watch them. But for the first seven, he wasn't throwing sh*t and what he was throwing wasn't landing.

 

i find it hilarious that DiBella's whole grand scheme back-fired completely. he figured he'd put Taylor in with Spinks, Taylor could play the big bad wolf - they guy who "wants" to fight (a role he hasn't always assumed) - and eventually, he'd knock Spinks out and look like a hero.

instead, looked at against the back-drop of Pavlik/Miranda, Taylor looks like a chump. not only did his camp hand-pick a shit opponent from a different weight class which nobody in the whole world was interested in seeing, but the fight was boring as hell too. Taylor diddle-daddled against a feather-fisted welter-weight, couldn't put him away, and was made to look bad in the process. all in the name of fears that Taylor would be knocked out had he faced a legitimate middle-weight. and then DiBella looks on as his ambitious client claims he will fight anyone, knowing that just because it's his fault doesn't mean Taylor sounds like any less of an ass saying such things.

basically, DiBella makes Taylor look like an ass everytime out. and makes him less and less likable.

 

You notice DiBella jumping up in the crowd every so often and start yelling at Jermain during the fight. Between Manny yelling at him and Dibella yelling at him Jermaine will be lucky if he doesn't catch the Michael Grant Syndrome a.k.a. Pleasestopyelllingteddyitis.

either way. DiBella's the one who figured incorrectly that if he put someone in front of Taylor who couldn't hurt him that Taylor would be more aggressive.

i think the exact opposite is true. that when and if Taylor ever feels threatened is when he will truly shine (or be KTFO).

I guess the best thing you can say about Cory is that he genuinely seems like a decent person. I understand Leon wasn't always around for him but I've seen them both up at the HOF in New York and Cory really dotes on his father, taking care of him. One year Leon looked like he was really sick and Cory was always there by his side. Carrying his snotrag around and wiping his nose for him.

It was kind of sad to watch but Cory didn't seem like he was put out by it at all.

Leone was good in Corey's corner, he could be a decent trainer. Corey seemed more purposeful, he executed, he was not hurt by anything Taylor threw. he also gave away the last round like a dunce.

 

I had it 7-5 for Spinks....but it's better for boxing that Taylor won...
