    What?

You don't doubt his competitiveness and will to win, yet you have repeatedly said that you think Mayweather-De La Hoya may have been fixed?

If Oscar was actually willing to fix his fight with Mayweather, then surely he is low enough to fix his fight with Hopkins.

yeah. good point. but ODH/Hopkins didn't seem fishy to me. ODH/PBF did. it's all conjecture anyway. but you're right. it's not truthful of me to say that i won't doubt ODH's will to win because i've done just that in my doubts about ODH/PBF.

You have your doubts about Oscar wanting to win against Floyd?

i think the degree to which PBF willingly threw punches at ODH's gloves all night seemed kind of suspicious.

thing is, when you're talking about a phenom like ODH, a guy who is a huge draw whether he wins or not, it does create the conditions in which something other than both fighters trying their hardest to win might make the most sense from both point of views.

in general, you can count on both fighters wanting to win - and the idea that each fighter's best case scenario is to have won.

but when you have a guy like ODH, who has his own promotional out-fit, and whose every opponent who's ever beaten him has become a star in his own right, and who remains popular whether he wins or not, it does make you wonder.

You know what I wonder about? Your sanity.

Oscar reacts to a punch unlike any other fighter who gets hit in that region and yet you can't find any reason to be suspicious.

    "However"

Oscar picks off a ton of Floyd's punches in what I'd consider his BEST job of parrying shots since his days at 140 and you're suspicious of it.

You're out of your mind Double Elian.

well then he's just shot to hell. because he could've won that fight going away if he'd stuck with the jab. and he didn't.

and Floyd, for his part, must have really felt Oscar's power, because he wasn't willing to take any chances whatsoever. on the contrary, he was so weary of getting close that he missed shots over and over.

and he'd throw that upper-cut, right-hand combination like he was taking a stroll through the park. wtf was up with that?

Well, I've wondered how serious Golden Boy is about his career for years, because he's been a part-time boxer, at best, for a long time.

When I look at his career in stages, I tend to think the first one ended with the first loss to Mosley.

I don't believe at all that Floyd and Oscar had a pre-arranged plan to take it easy on each other and let it go to the cards.

Does Floyd actually seem like someone who would handle a loss well? He seems like he'd be the type of go on a Foreman-like post-Zaire depression. Or he'd move to Italy to make movies and still cry about the decision 20 years later.

He was too defensive and didn't take enough risks to put on a better show in the richest prize fight ever, and deserves his criticism for not being impressive. Maybe he was worried about Oscar's power. Or in the case when Oscar and Tito fought each other, both guys seemed to be "fighting to not lose" rather than "fighting to win". But being in there and being respectful of another fighter's punching prowess and countering ability is different than both saying to each other before the fight "hey, let's go easy on each other".

I don't think it was fixed, but I have no doubt it my mind that Oscar was faking like a vagine. That's close to a vagina but not quite.

ok. so you've provided a reasonable explanation for PBF's performance but how do you account for ODH's abandoning his jab after having such success with it?

The fact that Oscar has traditionally faded down the stretch in most of his big fights over the past decade?

well, i didn't say i think it was fixed. what i said was that i had a shadow of a doubt as to it's legitimacy - a vague suspicion.

yeah but he never stopped throwing power shots, or moving forward. and his jab actually was the one punch he was throwing late in the fight against Trinidad and Gonzalez, two fights in which he faded somewhat towards the end. the jab is the punch fighters go to when they "are" tired.

and he said after the fight, it wasn't the night of the jab? wtf is that all about?

and PBF was NOT countering it.

I don't know. Oscar claims he had shoulder problems. I only remember Mayweather doing the pull-counter successfully, once early in round 3. Who knows? It would hardly be the first time De La Hoya made a critical tactical error in a big fight.

But I highly doubt it was "let me stop throwing the jab, I'm supposed to lose this fight!"

oscar looked like he was winded after the third round. he was so tense from the beginning and busted his nut in the early going. a typical oscar if you ask me. :dunno:

What do you think my point is?

The older you get the harder is to maintain anything in a boxing match. When talking about a 2007 fight, I don't care what said fighter did in a 1999 fight. Oscar couldn't keep throwing the jab because throwing tons of jabs is hard on the left arm, and he's getting older.

And no, you're wrong. When a fighter gets tired he usually becomes disorganized and starts relying on bigger shots.

Do you know anything about boxing?

yes. now fk off. jab takes a lot less energy than turning into power shots. jab is the go to shot when you're tired. and ODH was punching throughout the fight. he didn't fade that badly. he just stopped throwing the jab.

Because it's mentally and physically exhausting trying to jab at someone as illusive as PBF for 12 rounds.

That ain't no shit. What's worse, they are saying DLH was the main culprit of fixing the fight with Mayweather when he was the one ACTUALLY trying to fight :dunno:

no it wasn't fixed. The going got rough and Oscar found a way out. Being the pendejo that he is he overreacted instead of just laying there on the canvas.:dunno:

Just cause he and Hopkins became partners doesn't mean there was a fix. Shane is also his partner and you can't find anything fake about either two bouts.

I think had Oscar kept fighting Hopkins pressure was getting tighter and eventually he would have really hurt Oscar and stoped him.

When the fight stopped Hopkins was coming on he wasn't letting up.

do you guys think the 10 count should be changed to something like a 15 count if the fighter is dropped purely from a body shot? :dunno:

there's no physical danger from this happening
